If Shady doesn’t break 4 YPC with a minimum of 200 carries then you walk down the turnpike in heels and a skimpy outfit.

Must be the dead of winter, also.  Too bad this comment is lost on most of the posters here.  He's most likely done and I'd like to see him gone from the team.  Time for new blood.  As another astute poster pointed out, how many other team captains have been benched or disciplined from the head coach for being an immature idiot during the season?

  2. Too much.  I think they have visions of the K. Mack deal in their mind. I see a couple of of possibly very good and possibly elite production years (2), but what happens when he falls off and we're stuck?  I think it's downhill from here.  The Bills don't have a JJ Watt type of player opposite of him.  I know everyone is super excited about FA and trades, but has any team been the FA champions and won anything?  Look at all the cuts that have been made, just a short time ago a number of team and fans were excited to have them, now they can't get rid of them soon enough.

Hyde is average. He was averaging 3 YPC in Cleveland last year. Chubb starts and goes for 5. And Hyde isn't a good receiver either.

    He's ok, but nothing special.

Do you think the switch to Baker and his elevated play had anything to do with Chubb getting an honest look from opposing Ds?  We all know how well the Tyrod experiment went.  For the record, I'm looking at a guy like Hyde to get no more then 100-125 carries.  Draft a Rb you think can be a feature back, follow what Cleveland did with Chubb.  I don't want McCoy here.

Hyde is visiting KC and looks like he may sign there.

Yep, and the board geniuses know more than one of the more successful franchises over the past five years.  Let alone a head coach that can get the most out RBs.

Duke has been a backup his entire career and his contract gives him top 10-15 RB money in terms of cap hit. In what way is that a bad deal for him? He’s probably not worth the money. If Buffalo gets rid of McCoy, I’d be okay with Duke and a rookie but paying for both he and McCoy would be bad.

He can be had for the next two years at approximately $7.8 million total.  In 2022 you can keep him for 5.9 million if the team chooses.  His total contract is $15.6.  In a small snapshot yes, he's currently in the top 15 category.  He won't be there for long, at the end of FA and extensions he'll be in the 30's.

How much have the Bills put out in RB money the past three years? ---- over $34 million

They're both better than anything we've seen on the field in a number of years in a complimentary RB role.  They'd go great with a rookie RB.

Spending wisely here will allow the team to put more money on the important positions on the OL and DL.

  6. While the front office still thinks McCoy has something left, other savvy front offices are feeling these two out, they should grab one sooner rather than later.  Duke signed a horrible contract (for him) and at 25 has some quality years ahead.  Talk from "media insiders" speculate he could be had for a 4th or 5th round choice.  I've read a couple of articles from Cleveland based outlets all but begging the Browns not to trade him.

Get the deal done.  I'd feel very good about Gore, Johnson and a draft pick.  If McCoy is let go a bunch of his apologists would see how little value he has in the league.

  7. Some of our fans are outright delusional homers.  We all know or have family members that think their junk is worth top dollar, while they feel others legitimate or tangible assets hold little value.  Any one of you that thinks J. Jones wouldn't merit a #1 pick is just not in touch with reality.  They're also most likely the same people that thought McCoy was going to fetch a 2nd round pick, or drew a line in the sand thinking he was actually worth a second day pick.  All the while not seeing he's absolutely worthless.  Part of the high value of 1st round pick is the possibility of acquiring an elite talent with a fixed cap number for 4+ years.  Let's see what shakes out during the FA period.  Besides Jones and the Falcons meltdown in the SB, what have the WRs mentioned done to help their team win?  OBJ has missed too much time.  Why would a team building a foundation need a guy like him?  What has he done for the Giants W/L record?

Julio Jones' Production:  In his past five years, has a bills receiver ever had a year that's close to any one of his years from 14-18?

  8. It was pretty easy.  Growing up in Rochester being a Bills fan and having no geographic ties to any other major sports team besides the Sabers, I've always followed other sports teams at a national level.  I liked the Knicks and Orioles based on having the MSG channel, VanGundy going to my high school and having the prospects roll through with the AAA team.  That just wasn't enough though.  Besides the Bills it was never a diehard attraction to other teams.  I moved to the Philadelphia area after graduating and lived 5 minutes from the stadiums on the Broad St. line.  With my proximity to all of the venues and being exposed to a media market that serves over 6.5 million people with intense/in-depth coverage it was hard to not take some of it in through osmosis.  The Phillies were the first team to bring me in, I went to a lot a games when their young core was just coming up.  It was an excitement that permitted through the city.  The Eagles were young up and comers, too.  Not to mention, they seemed like a good group of guys and had an overall likable team personality (besides the passive aggressive, sensitive baby QB).  My Bills fandom never wavered during this time, despite their overall ineptitude.  I had the direct TV Sunday ticket bills to prove it.  It was easier being in an NFC town, in this division already hating the Giants, Cowboys and Redskins for obvious reasons.  And, who wasn't a Randell Cunningham fan in the early 90's?  I never had a natural animosity towards the Eagles.  I simply have a NFC and AFC team.  When they play each other I root for the Bills 100%.  I've been able to extract joy bi-proxy, and thankfully didn't take the simple stance of "if you like two teams, you like zero".  If that was the case, I most likely wouldn't care about the NFL.  What the Bills have put fans through since 1998, up until last year has been unacceptable.  I thankfully was able to extract a little joy from the league when the Bills were a laughing stock and amongst the dregs of the league.

  9. If Tate doesn't expect #1 money, I think he'd fit the offense quite nicely.  But, I know that's not realistic thinking.  The WR market looks pretty thin, so he can most likely get over market value.  I see him as the player that could open up the offense with the high percentage quick throws and his impressive YAC.  He's a professional and tough.  Young WRs could learn a thing or two from him.  He could mask some of the deficiencies personnel wise on the O.  On second thought, spend the money and get him in here even if it's #1 $, it's not ours.

  10. Just watched his highlight reel on youtube.  I forgot what a complete player this kid was.  Yes, his long runs were impressive, but the OL was nasty.  The holes he had to choose from were huge!  His deceptive speed at his size was something.  At his size, looks similar to D. Henry, who in the league has/had hands like him?  His catches were more impressive than the runs.

I'd be all for seeing if this young man can recapture any of his previous talent.  I can't think of a better motivator than 7 kids.

  11. The wall of what?  If you take exception to my observations on his character how am I wrong?  Are you the same guy that said he was worth a 2nd round pick around the trade deadline?  I'd expect a little more tangible content from a +964.

    Yes and thank you.
when he gets some blocking he will make them miss. he still has that.
But his game awareness cannot be quickly replaced by rookies.
How very many time i saw him wide open and looking back to Josh for the ball. with room in zone or singled up. folks may not have noticed that he was a perfect check down that was barely used. and yes, that is the best way to use him these days . his smarts to pick blocks and be/get open in short areas or sliding outside of the hashes

Any starting caliber NFL running back can make defenders miss when they have blocking.  His game awareness?  Oh...like how he holds the ball like a loaf of bread or not hitting the hole when it's open?  Rookies at the RB position have had no problem acclimating quickly to the NFL.  Do you watch other teams in the league?  Also, the RB check down is there a lot.  You're not seeing anything pivotal or groundbreaking.  The way the LBs play in todays game, that gap of perceived space closes quickly for a short gain often.  It's in the design of the defense.  They're daring you to waste a down.  LBs 40 at the combine are close if not on par with the RBs.

Your arguments are weak and observations suspect.  It's not just you, so I apologize if that sounds harsh.  I think a contingent of the fans have gotten the team they deserve.  I blame the media, too.  You've all been way too forgiving and not loud enough with displeasure.  Why settle for a guy on the wrong side of 30?  Keeping him is a classic Bills move.  As I've said before, it's not about the money, it's about progression.  He brings nothing unique anymore, he's keeping another player that has a shot to be part of the accent from developing.  To those that say put him in the slot, are you kidding me?  Too many Madden gamers on here.  Does he play hard?  Yes.  If trying hard got it done I'm sure a bunch of us would have been more successful in our athletic endeavors.  It's about production, not participation trophies.  I want the Cadillac, forget the steak knives.

    Questions to ask yourself:

Could he handle a reduced role, not being the Alpha?  I don't think he can.

    Is he 20+ touch back?

If not, how's he going to be in the locker room?

What has he done the past two years that has looked above average?

  13. Turk71, I couldn't agree with you more.  Also, McCoy isn't the guy I would want as the NCO or sergeant keeping the young kids in line.  As I've stated before, his talent level doesn't justify his aggravation quotient anymore.  He'll be last person to know he's cooked, still thinking he's elite, potentially causing issues like late last year.  As another poster stated, he doesn't pass the "eye test" anymore.  Bills fans are quick to give this guy the benefit of the doubt for some reason?  He gets the respect of an all timer, here.  I'll admit that I'm bias and not a fan, but he's been paid as a top tier back, and while he's been good, I think he's fallen short of that status.  Factor in his age, past transgressions and where this team is heading, they should rip the bandaid off now.  At this point he's just a name, two top tier FA RBs and a draft pick could easily out produce him, while hopefully providing a foundational piece for the next 3-5 years.  My stance isn't about money, I wan't a core of young skill position players developing together with Josh Allen as their leader, and possibly a guy like Pierre Garcon in WR room.  Read up on how he's helped in SF.  The less influence a guy like McCoy has in the locker room the better.  Unless the Bills want him to tutor the young guys on how to tip, drop women off on the side of the road during winter, attack police officers, work with a corrupt DA and be the new face of the Chris Carter class of how to find a fall guy and not get caught.  Guy is teflon...

  14. My instant reaction was that is was boring.  But, I remember a lot of blowout SBs that were over by the end of the 2nd quarter.  While i didn't enjoy the game, it was suspenseful in the sense either team could have won going into the 4th quarter.  The game felt like it couldn't get started, with the offenses stuck in neutral.  I agree with the individuals that stated the real SB was two weeks ago.

  15. I laugh when I see posts about stealing other players for little to nothing, and they think it's possible.  I bet these are the same people that thought getting a 2 or 3 for McCoy was possible, and thought 5-6 round pick was ridiculous.

If available, I'd make a full push for this guy.  They need to start spending money.  Might as well get a proven commodity that fits the scheme.

  16. Coincidental I think.  Gurley being the only really high pick the past 4 years.  Lynch in 2014?  He looked quite average in 2016.  CJ Anderson is looking like a word beater off the street makes me wonder. The coach does a great job of putting those guys in favorable matchup situations.  I look at 28-32 as luxury picks for established teams extracting what they feel is the best value, or they trade out.  Ingram was suspended to start the year, and he's a part time player.  Good point though, this year is an anomaly.  I look at the three years prior and it's mostly home grown mid-round selections.  Though, I think with the exception of the Patriots a lot of that is due to the cap % those QBs carry.

    Last year:

    Patriots vs Jags (Fournette 1st)

Eagles vs Vikings (2nd rd Cook hurt most of the year)

    2016:

    Steelers vs Patriots (Bell 2nd)

    Falcons vs Packers

    2015:

    Broncos vs Patriots

    Panters vs Cardinals
