Going on a business trip to Atlanta next week with the Mrs. and looking for suggestions? Nice restaurants or attractions that can be experienced without breaking the bank? I've also wondered about finding myself in a sports bar to watch the opener on Thursday night if anyone has any suggestions?

I seem to be in the minority. I miss the WNY winters. Growing up in Niagara county a lot of the Lake affect blew over our heads, but snow and cold is much better than Virginia winters of gray and rainy.

I'm confused by the first part of your response? Well, that's irrefutable, but it shouldn't be the only answer to the problem. LA hit it right on the head: Also, to clear it up, I am 100% for school choice. I posted this article cause I found it funny that those who might be opposed to school choice would worship Lebrons actions without realizing that this proves the need for choice.

While true that it is not a direct comparison between private v. public, it does speak to the fact that the private sector will (almost exclusively) have a better end result than the public.

Has the "King" proven that the private sector is better for Schools than the government? http://time.com/money/5354265/lebron-james-i-promise-school-akron/?utm_source=facebook.com&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=social-button-sharing

Whatever my local place calls a burrito California. Good stuff. However, this changes about every 6 months. and if I’m being honest, my favorite Mexican dish is the homemade chips and salsa.

Im with you on the fence. I think Krasinski has the chops for it (see: A quiet place) but it’ll be hard to see him as Ryan. There’s danger in making Ryan too much like Bond (I thought the Chris Pine version was over the top) but I think JK can make it work. The Michael Bay part stretches me some just because he tends to focus on a lot of action and less on story. While I do like this some times (I really enjoy the Last Ship, for instance) I think Ryan is what he is because of the quiet moments of logistical mastery. I hope they capture that. He needs to be an anylyst by trade and a fighter by necessity. Also, it’ll be hard to see Ryan outside of the Cold War ethos because I think his character was made for that (Red October is the best Ryan installment). -
Anyone miss the House they grew up in
whatdrought replied to Ice bowl 67's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Grew up (9months to 14yrs) in a house in WNY before moving to Virginia. I drove past it once when I was 15, but now I’m 22 and would love to see that place again. Seems like a distant memory, but at other times it seems like just yesterday and I can almost still smell the place or hear the squeak of a door or the specific creak of a floor board. Wife was making chili the other night and the canned tomatoes she opened took me right back to summers of my aunt and mom canning in that old kitchen... nostalgia is a b——! -

Not to wander aimlessly into a A, B conversation, But it seems to me that the issues facing our current government structure is that for years people have sacrificed their ideals and beliefs on the alters of power, control, and party. Agree or disagree with Paul and Cruz, but they are fairly consistent in their desire to walk out their principles. I for one applaud that, and while it's hard in this instance, it is still nice to see government being done the way that it was supposed to be done- with conviction.

Chuck Shumur: Donald Trump is literally satan. Also Chuck Shumur: Mr. President let me show you how to keep your reputation nice! "Tapping into Trump's understanding of the importance of the choice, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., told the president this week that nominating someone hostile to abortion access, or the 2010 health care law, would tarnish his legacy."

But there is a certain level to the idea that there are certain heinous decisions of which there is "no coming back" for the good of society. I am thankful I am not the one who has to make such decisions.

It definitely is a slippery slope. I think in reality, while my ideals are great, they are just ideals. The problem with endless appeals and mental health excuses is that it takes the power out of the punishment involved in a punitive system. We have gotten as a society so intent on rehabilitation that we refuse to see how rare true and total rehabilitation really is. As far as the mental health issue goes I (and I don't want to sound heartless here and I am aware it's complicated so take my comments with a grain of salt) often times wonder if we are going to argue that someone was mentally incapable of understanding that shooting a bunch of people is bad, why would we not immediately want them completely and totally removed from society?
-
Right, except that it wouldn't be a show trial. It would be a real trial. First witness: "did you see this man walk through a high school shooting students indiscriminately?" "Yes I did" Witnesses 2-50: same Judge: jury, how do you find? Jury: we find the defendant guilty your honor. Judge: defendant is sentenced to death by whatever means the state sees fit. The more convoluted the whole justice system has gotten in the past hundred years, the less justice there really is.

Not sure torture is ever a great idea (especially not vindictive torture for tortures sake) but I have wondered why we keep these 100% guilty mass shooters alive. (such as the kid in Colorado, the church shooter, Cruz, this one etc.) Why not do a quick (fair) trial and then execute them within a week of the guilty verdict?

I was "homeschooled" because my parents didn't like the public education system... But I also didn't do much in the way of school (parents worked). For me it worked out because I read a lot and worked which helped me find critical thinking and life skills in the real world. When I got to college I had to take some basic math classes to "catch up" but because I had an understanding of how the world worked it was fine for me. I am pro-homeschooling and am planning to homeschool my kids because I honestly do not care for the public education system. That being said, I think there is a right way and a wrong way to do it. I think homeschooling can be great if you know where your weakness' are as a teacher and look for outside help in those areas.

Watch parents screw up their children...

The look he gives her at 24 seconds... I like to think that the heartland still has some sway on the direction of the country... The '16 election had to at least make it seem possible... More importantly, I often wonder how much is media and academic pushing, and how much is genuine thought when it comes to these issues. -

It's really a matter of perspective, I think... If you have jobs and a nice economy in your city (which I find hard to believe), Amazon is unwanted because it disrupts the status quo. If you have no jobs, and no economy, then you ought to beg amazon to come to the city. https://www.dailywire.com/news/30675/starbucks-amazon-panic-after-leftist-seattle-city-emily-zanotti?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_content=062316-news&utm_campaign=benshapiro Seattle city councilwoman says Amazon is selfish for not wanting to help with the homeless... Oh boy. Where would your city be without one of the largest companies in the world dumping jobs and revenue into it? BS government at it's finest right here.

I guess the one thing was that this movie had so much going on that you have to see it a couple times to really digest it. I will see tomorrow what I think.
