Leaf was well before my time watching the league let alone trying to evaluate college prospects.  I don't agree the draft is a crapshoot though.

A crapshoot is a bit of an exaggeration. Unfortunately there are way to many variables that occur between draft day, and how long it takes for a player to hit their prime and establish who they are as an NFL player. Any GM could probably write a novel defending why they took a particular QB, but it takes the player to put in the work after he gets thrown a ton of money, and the team to find a way to get the most out of that player. Its as much of a crapshoot as drafting a fantasy football team. It doesn't mean you don't try to put in the work to draft what you feel will be a good team. Whenever the draft is over, its now time to go to real work. No matter who of the Top 6 QB's they take, I will be excited to see what that guy will do.

Crazy reality was the VIkings unintentionally letting the clock run out on their first pick two years in a row.

The Jets taking as their first pick someone who was laughingly way down the depth chart of every other team, the papers were rattling as everyone dove in to find how he was a later round pick unanimously, he had a decent career with the Jets.

what was the name of the Jets player you are talking about? Or what year?

I wanted to see how insane I could play the trade game. I just kept trading back from #12 until the CPU ran out of partners for me and forced me to pick.

We got down to #68. These are the Bills 3rd round picks:

    Round 3 Pick 4 (HOU), Round 3 Pick 7 (DEN), Round 3 Pick 9 (MIA), Round 3 Pick 11 (OAK), Round 3 Pick 12 (G.B.), Round 3 Pick 13 (CINN), Round 3 Pick 14 (K.C.), Round 3 Pick 15 (ARI), Round 3 Pick 16 (HOU), Round 3 Pick 19 (BALT), Round 3 Pick 20 (LAC), Round 3 Pick 22 (K.C.), Round 3 Pick 23 (LAR), Round 3 Pick 25 (TENN), Round 3 Pick 26 (ATL), Round 3 Pick 27 (N.O.), Round 3 Pick 31 (N.E.), Round 3 Pick 32, Round 3 Pick 33 (ARI), Round 3 Pick 35 (DEN), Round 3 Pick 36 (CINN)

    You think you're a wheeler-dealer do ya, Beane? :)

Oh good! We will finally "fill" all those holes on the team. I think Mason Rudolph might still be available when you get to the third round in this game. lol

I don't want him to retire. I want Brady to keep playing until he sucks so bad he is forced to retire, preferably after jumping from team to team and then getting cut in training camp from a team like the Jets.

    So keep playing, Brady.

As much as I want him to retire yesterday, I also want to find out how long he can play till. If he plays till he is 60, and the 23 year olds out of college still cant stop him, maybe then he should just hang it up.....

.......but that doesn't mean that it's going to happen.

I'm so sick of people hyperfocusing on the top 4 QBs. No QB other than Darnold, Allen, Rosen or Mayfield are worth a damn to a huge chunk of people on the board, any suggestion other than the top 4 is lunacy to some.

Truth is, there is a very real chance that Rudolph and Jackson are the top 2 QBs on the board when we pick at 12, !@#$ing deal with it.

I want a million dollars and a house on the beach, but guess what? It's never going to happen. People need to quit living in a fairy tale land, this is the real world, be an adult and grow up, you don't always get what you want in life...

Quit blasting realists when they show interest in a QB not named Darnold, Allen, Rosen or Mayfield, I am so tired of it.

25 days to go. As long as we get 1 of the 6 guys I am happy. And then hopefully most of the fan base will be ready to defend whatever guy it is, instead of criticizing who they get.

  6. We always thought he was cheap. There were many times, I remember us begging Ralph Wilson to sell the team, for 1. As security for them to stay, and 2 As hoping somebody would bring a winning atmosphere back. I can't blame the guy for wanting to hang on to his NFL toy for the rest of his life. But he was cheap, and at times made us feel like we should just be grateful we even have a team. When it was all said and done, he set up his estate to make sure then new owner would have no intentions to move the team. I'm not sure who deserves a greater appreciation in ownership, Ralph Wilson, or the Knox Brothers.

  7. Its very interesting. Almost everybody agrees that "Darnold, Allen, Rosen, and Mayfield" are the top 4. And Jackson is 5th, and Rudolph is the 6th guy. I have this feeling that Rudolph or Jackson might end up going earlier than some of the top 4. I also believe that how good these 6 guys end up being will be completely different than how we are viewing them now. I feel in the long run, 3 of these guys will be good, and 3 will be busts. The bills have to take a chance on one of them, but it is most likely a crapshoot.

  8. I hated the decision. I'm kind of over it now though. It didn't work out when rex did it against Miami, but it worked out here. Also just because you win the game, doesn't mean the coach was perfect with every call he made. This was a very dangerous call, in which the players managed to bail out McDermott. I worry this will not be the last time we see this mistake get made.

  9. I would like a couple of 4:00 games. It will either mean we get extra tailgating time. Or I can get some various errands done before an away game kick off. The 1:00 games are nice, but its also night to not have 15 of them. IF the bills get a Sunday night Football game, it will be voted most likely to get flexed out....

  10. I believe the stats you projected are within 10 top QB numbers. If he does that you keep giving him the job. You hang onto 2 quarterbacks as long as you can afford it. I believe AJ has a chance to become the franchise Quarterback. There is no guarantee the rookie we will draft will be good, but I still want them to take that chance.

The worst thing imo about the main WGR hosts, is it doesn't seem like any of them ever played organized sports or were ever in a locker room.  They talk down to people who have been there and act like they know more about the game from reading then people who played it their whole lives at high levels.  Nothing substitutes for experience.  They think they know but they don't.  Things like culture and momentum do exist.  So does being in the zone which can be scientifically proven.  The thing about being in the zone you could never know what that is from reading.  You would have to be in it to understand and you can't get in the zone unless you are actually good.  The arrogance from guys like Schopp and White when it comes to these issues is off putting.

Yeah, that is the best take on this topic. Most other talk shows, mix broadcast people with a former player or coach. Just look at the NFL pregame shows. Granted I avoid the John Murphy Show which has Donald Jones as co-host, almost all the time. Also the instigators doesn't interest me at all. I feel it as to do with the production staff on those shows, that fail them. You need strong personalities on this show. People that are confident in their opinions and can defend them. They also need structure on the show. I don't believe the programming from 10-3 has any of those things. But Howard, Jeremy, Schopp and the BullDog do have all that. They do however sometimes get stuck and repetitive, and that's when they could use a former player or coach co-host to help them out.
