The stats show the progress and reflects the 'eye test' that Josh has been passing in most games this (New England game excluded) year

With that said, I believe it is interesting that his overall yardage production is pretty much the same year over year.

I believe this speaks to something that has not been talked about very often - but the running game is much improved year over year from the OL (Much talked about).. but the upgrade this years duo of Motor and Gore is a significant improvement of Shady and Ivory.

I think it's significant that he's had an almost 15% increase in passing yards.

  2. The Buffalo media for the most part is bush league. Not a press conference has gone by in the last 20 years where some sad man hasn't acted out a lame attempt at psychoanalysis with question after about validation and the assumption of inferiority.

The Patriots in particular mine the Buffalo media and have gotten countless Intel on team reads / calls ect. because the dumb ass reporters have demanded players and coaches "prove" their competency with specific examples of in play calls.

I feel sorry for McDermott having to stand there day after day dealing with such idiocy.

East Germany? McDermott is like the Stasi? Get out of here Sullivan. You are a sad sad man.

Those people don't understand context, in general.

Like, say, take the comparison to Roethlisberger. He played on a team with a truly amazing defense, one of the best TEs in the game at the time and a HOF running back.

But who needs that kind of information to make a solid judgement?

Different era, and it doesn't count because my mind is made up...

Joe Flacco and Nick Foles have as many rings as Aaron Rodgers and Drew Brees.

It pisses me off the amount of "fans" basically rooting for him to fail.

We all knew that Allen was a raw prospect with high ceiling, coming from a no-name high school and a lowly college program in a bad conference. His learning curve is going to be wider and longer than a prospect like Darnold or Mayfield coming from high end college programs.

So I am giving Allen 3 years personally, unless a dramatic dropoff. I am evaluating him on a YEARLY basis. Year one as a whole vs year two as a whole vs year three as a whole.

Evaluating him game by game is going to accomplish nothing except start fights.

    Development is not linear.

There seems to be a vocal group of fans that do not believe in the concept of development. They keep saying "you either have it or you don't."

There's no guarantee that any QB will develop into a starter/ elite player. But there is a possibility that anyone who finds himself under center in the NFL can grow into starting caliber.

There's also at least 6 super bowl winning qb's that had either poor or mediocre years for their first 2-4 seasons who went on to win it all. But the proponents of "you either have it or you don't" trip all over themselves to discount each any every example...

I'm willing to give Allen through his 5th season... Eli Manning had a bad 4th year, and then the Giants won it all in his 5th year because they built a championship team around him during that time. Blowing things up ever 3 years is a recipe for a 20 year playoff draught.

He only gets 36.8% of the offensive snaps.

I DO say he SHOULD be the 3rd WR coming into the Game.

One thing is for sure they should NEVER us Andre Roberts at WR

    https://www.playerprofiler.com/nfl/andre-roberts/

I think it's valid to say he should be the #3 coming into the game. I think Daboll is switching out packages too frequently to try and be complicated, when the offense needs consistency.

Now in all Honesty the Bills SHOULD Target Knox alot more

Knox when TGTed has Allen at a 91.5 QB Rating

Second compared to the 94.8 rating when TGTing John Brown

The WR that really needs to be used more in the Offense is Isaiah McKenzie.

    Catch Rate of 80%

    Catchable TGT Rate of 86.7%

    0 Drops

    True Catch Rate of 92.3%

    37.6 Target Premium

128.6 Rating from Allen when Targets him

I'd like to see how often he is getting open and not targeted vs. how often he is not getting open?

I'm a Daboll critic.  I think he has shown that he's capable of calling excellent plays, but the headscratchers are mounting by the week.  He either misuses or under-utilizes players too many times each week.  We've all seen Allen in a groove.  He's fierce.  Too many times (last week's first TD drive, for instance), Daboll will call perfect plays, the players will execute and a beautiful drive ends in 7 .... then he abandons everything that worked in that drive, for the rest of the game.  Get Josh in a groove and keep Josh in the groove.  Daboll isn't doing that.

In an otherwise decent post, I'd like to ask why, "fans," is in quotation marks.  Daboll's got some good in him and I respect those who think he's doing a fine job.  We are, after all, 6-2.

To insinuate that Daboll critics aren't real fans is a pretty juvenile take.  Some fans are very happy with the current state of the Bills because they're 6-2.  Some of those fans are very happy, but still want necessary improvements to be made .... and there's nothing wrong with that.

There's a world of difference between an honest evaluation of the positive and negative of Daboll's game such as yours, and the drunken rage filled vitriol expressed by a number of posters demanding Daboll be fired last Sunday for his performance against Washington.

The next 8 games are going to tell us a lot about a number of things. None of us really know who is going to improve and rise to the occasion, and who is going to regress. I'm excited to see how it all plays out, and we have the entire off season to talk about the next steps the team needs to make to improve.

What I'd like to see from Daboll is more consistency in his play calling, exploit what is working and getting the ball more into the hands of Smoke, Motor, Bease. I'll wait until the end of the season to makeup my mind whether I think the Bills should bring Daboll back.

Some fans are just wired different. I can't just "sit and enjoy." It isn't in my nature. I have to analyse - good or bad. I have to understand why. I watch most NFL games most weeks and I can't just sit and enjoy those either. Some people enjoy sport that way and that is fine. I can't I have to get under the skin of it. That is what I get my enjoyment from. Doesn't make me any less of a fan. I love that the Bills are 6-2. I hated the loss to the Eagles, really hated it. I hate the Eagles more than the Patriots. But I am not going to sit and passively make excuses for the Bills when they are bad. I am going to try and work our why and call it how I see it.

I find a big difference between analyzing as as mechanism to identify strengths and weaknesses with an eye towards discussing solutions, and analyzing in order to place blame and exact punish as a form of satisfaction. Love reading people's takes when it's the former... The later is repellent like vomit.

Well some of the concerns are real. But where I agree with you is for the negative ones that allow criticize every coaching or Allen mistake, that seem to expect perfection. Stop just watching highlights! Other teams and players make all sorts of mistakes too!

Exactly, and there's a world of difference between talking about where your footbll team needs to improve, and obsessing only on the negative as a defense mechanism to protect your feelings from being hurt if the team doesn't exceed your unrealistic expectations.

I for one am enjoying watching the improvements this season, and am looking forward to talking about the next steps to move forward even further in the off-season. You know, when it's the off-season.

I think there's a few too many people that are so used to taking about who the new coach should be and posting mock drafts this tine of year that they don't know what to do with themselves.

I said Motor needs 25 touches a game the week he came back and got laughed a here. That kid is good Barry Sanderesque good with his vision and moves. Looks like Dumbell heard me.

It would have happened a lot sooner if not for the hamstring injury. I'll give the coaching staff the benefit of the doubt and assume they were being cautious, knowing they need Motor for the second half of the season.

    IDK Bang,

He couldn't be that bad to win 2 SB MVP's? He sits 8th all time in passing yards all well. I wasn't trying to turn the discussion stupid. Just pointing out the fact that you turned your nose up to a HOF QB like we don't desperately need one.  He's was a friggin beast in the playoffs.

I'd take a QB like that all day if we won 2 SB's.

The reason why I posted the thread was to get a general consensus of where the board is at in terms of patience and process. The majority have none, and would blow up a team on the cusp of winning a Super Bowl because it fits the 3 and done ***** show that Ralph Wilson seemed to have conditioned them into demanding.

I see huge strides forward from last year to this year, and think that we have an opportunity to take big strides forward over the next few seasons. But the majority prefer the satisfaction of seeing people fired, it gives some kind of satisfaction.

Very strange.  Pats must view Sanu and/or Harry as better options than Gordon at this point.  If not that, then there's hints of personal problems again.  Either way, that doesn't make me very eager to see him in a Bills uniform.

I'm thinking Belichick didn't like that he couldn't, or wouldn't, play through bruises.

If there are no personal problems to be found, I think the Bills should at least bring him in for an interview.
