I think you misread/misinterpreted  my statement.  I meant that no HC had ever tried it before.   IMO, it's ludicrous to think an NFL HC woud consider it since it's totally out of character because like players, they're conditioned to always try to win.

No sorry, I'm quoting you to help prove a point to the other dude. No precedence because it's patently stupid.

Sure Lynn would have.  Because you think so, right?  Or perhaps you have no clue.

Like any coach McD makes good and bad decisions.  Yesterday the three running plays were to me ridiculous.  But it worked out.  The call for Peterman was as he said a calculated risk, and it did not work.  But they also have put together pretty solid defensive schemes overall.  And while you refuse to admit it, this team was not expected to do squat and he has them in the top six in the conference.

We finally have a HC and GM totally in synch and with a plan, and you want to fire the HC.  Well then, fire Marrone for his call yesterday.  Carroll for his bad decision the week before.  Give me enough time and I'll make a case to fire every current HC based on a decision made this year that did not pan out.

Tell me the last time a HC made a "calculated risk" in this situation with a quarterback who has led us to the playoff hunt for a late round rookie. McDermott needs to recognize precedence.

The more I think about it, Talib continually disrespecting Crabtree and pulling off his chain is kind of funny.

I couldn't find this year's gif. Still, I'd be pissed if I was Crabs.

It was the perfect troll until he started fighting back and got ejected. Talib you fool!

"It's time to try see if this rookie QB drafted on Day Three is the next Tom Brady," said no NFL HC ever with his team having a winning record and a piece of the playoffs, especially when his rookie QB was as unready for a pro start as Peterman appeared to be.

I prefer to think of it as a learning experience. We’ve done enough “quick firing” in recent decades. Maybe we wait and see how it plays out?

To repeat SoTier, I challenge you to give me a single precedent for a move like that. And if it exists did it work? And no, Tom Brady and Kaepernick don't count, they were relieving injured QBs.

That's not a learning experience, that is utter incompetence.

After Peterman was benched the Bills and Chargers both scored 17 in the 2nd half.

I agree with you that if Taylor starts the game the Bills have a chance to win. For anyone to say anything different is ridiculous.

That one game may cost this team a playoff spot. If that happens, that's a fireable offense.

hahaha I said the exact same thing in another thread. Fireable offense.

We covered their number one receiver with a combination of Humber and Lorax most of the game.  After Allen had already torched us for 100+ yards and one TD, we eventually put Leonard Johnson on him.    Keenan was limited to 40 yards and only one TD after McD and Frazier caught on.  Those are the kind of late 3rd quarter adjustments that win super bowls.

The Quarterback 3rd quarter adjustment was genius too, totally changed the game.

So your saying the two were his fault, with the same o-line that has allowed free rushers to come at tyrod about every game.  Not to mention his completion % has never matched tyrods.

I remember the Denver game, every other drop back, Tyrod had his eye on Von Miller running through Mills, and consistently dodged him to buy time for a throw. Peterman's a good ole gunslinging pocket passer, he'd rather just toss the ball up to "throw receivers open" with Joey Bosa coming at him.

Perennial playoff contender KC about to break up with Alex Smith - bold and applauded.

Perennial bad to average Bills about to break up with Taylor - Idiotic, baffling, and unprecedented.

KC has the #10 overall pick backing up Alex Smith

Bills have, well.. you know who backing up Taylor

Take a look at Dak Prescott. Elliot’s not playing and all of a sudden he’s a mere mortal. They’re Oline is still the same Oline and he has a pretty good receivers. Up to the Cowboys recent struggles, i bet a ton of posters on this board would’ve given their left arm for a guy like Prescott. This week he was something like 20-29 for 170+ and two picks.  If a QB doesn’t have a solid supporting cast, it can change the whole dynamic.

The Bills can get rid of Taylor but they still have to have the receivers and an Oline. They don’t magically improve with a change at QB.

It seems like Dak's game is very similar to Tyrod's. Cowboys fans are equally divided on him as we are with Tyrod. Point is Dak was in the MVP discussion with that team last year. Why? because it's a team sport, and Dak played to his team strengths perfectly.

What strengths do the Bills have? Shady, a poor offensive line, and Nick O'Leary looks like his best receiving target .

After some pondering, I've come to the conclusion the odd's are against that.

I heard teams can trade up in the draft if they so choose by giving up a few picks. How about we compromise pull an Eagles move.

Look at anecdotal evidence in the NFL man. By your logic the Browns should be the best team in the NFL.

I want to see a Bills playoff game, so do the players on the roster. These are competitive athletes lol.

Different scenario though. The Rams had a lot of good players on their roster, especially defense. He did bring in three new WR and a top level LT to the offense, which, along with his own real talent, transformed the team overnight. You're right in one respect though: If we hired him instead of McD we may have been able to transform the team quicker and had Wade as DC and McVay running the O.

I think we used to have a good roster, especially on defense, before two successive coaching regimes gutted the roster. That's my frustration.

I think we agree with each other regarding what we want out of a coach. But I'm not happy with McDermott to date.

So you prefer to keep bad coaches? The answer is to hire good ones not keep bad ones.

I'd like a good coach that doesn't gut the roster when they come in. Did Sean McVay gut his roster replacing Fisher on a bad Rams team? No he hired coordinators that fit the strengths and made some great offseason moves. :(

if that's all you'll get out of it then you are a pretty sad case. don't bother responding as I wont buy in to anything you post.

if they get in, back in or jump a hurdle or two I'll be not only one happy fan, I'll be relieved that the monkey would finally be off their back.

    Don't get these guys.

Bills get playoff off experience. Heaven forbid they get confidence. And how can anyone say they don't want to see their team play in the PLAYOFFS. Otherwise what's the point in being a fan. We enjoy watching our team play, particularly in the most meaningful games possible.

If Taylor goes to another team next year and looks like a different QB posting 300+ yard games regularly then I'll be more than happy to admit I was wrong and chalk it up to the Bills being terrible and not having the right coaching/players around him.

But in reality we all know that's not going to happen, a great QB would have had more than one lousy 300 yard game by now regardless of the coaching and talent. I don't even believe Fitzpatrick is a better QB than Taylor but even he had his bright spots and big days in Buffalo on some very bad teams.

I think best case for TT is to land on a team like Denver or Jax next year where he can truly play the Alex Smith role to perfection behind a great defense. But even then he'll simply be keeping the seat warm for a high draft pick QB or have a very short leash as a starter if another viable option is on the roster.

So is it easier to build a team like Denver or Jax with Taylor on the roster, or land a quarterback by throwing a dart on the board draft after draft?Taylor has never seen anything close to weapons like D Thomas, Sanders, Bennie Fowler Jr., he'd be a great fit there.
