I believe they are shopping Oliver, if they can find a buyer the talks will heat up on other receivers. Right now we don't have the cap space to think about legit FA receivers, im not sure if they would release him, not sure what 20 tackles with a 10 mil cap hit is worth, It may turn into a Marcell Dareus where you take what you can get for someone to take him off your books, but then again Marcel was a solid DT.

Oliver isn't being released. You people who think he has no value are delusional as well. A team like the Bears could swoop in and they would have an extension worked out for him. I'm not saying 1st rounder, but I can easily see a 3rd, possible high 2nd for the right team.

Four most realistic scenarios and what I think is the most likely in order.

1.) We get lucky and a first round prospect is available to us at 27 at a premium position of need.

2.)Beane trades up a few spots to get the last guy he has graded as a first round prospect.

3.)  We reach for a 2nd round prospect at 27 because we can't find a trade partner to trade back into the 2nd.

4.)  We trade our first round pick for some other team's second along with multiple day two and three picks (a 3rd and a 5th for example)

I think #2 is most likely ala the Elam pick. This time from a run on receivers.

Yeah I think Wright is plug and play. How much better he will be than Brown in the long run is kind of my question. So is it really worth it? I really don’t like using a first round pick in a RT, but this year is just a little different in terms of it being so weak. So I have softened thatvstabce a bit for Wright. In any other year he’s a 2nd round guy. Kincaid is good too.

Here’s the thing…this team isn’t drafting a #2 TE or RT competition in the first round. It’s just not happening. If they draft those guys they need to have the intention of starting them, and I think this regime likes Knox and Brown too much to go there.

As much as fans hate it, if it isn’t a LB, I think it’s and edge rusher or a DT. If all the WRs and defensive talent is gone, I could see a RT or TE but I doubt it.

Just so everyone goes nuts even more, the Chiefs will draft Wright at the end of the first, or jump in front of us to do so.

The thing about TE though is there is probably a handful of guys who have significantly higher upside than Knox and make him expendable in a couple seasons. But the good news is we have killer 2 TE sets for 2 to maybe 4 seasons.

  4. If there was a way to make it work he would definitely strengthen our rotation. He actually may be a better option than Daquan Jones it's just the money that would stop this.

I would love to swap him out for Tim Settle but they already tweaked his contract.

Hopkins has been "the main man" in terms of Y/G and R/G, basically, every season since 2015 except 2021 when he was hampered by rib and hammie issues and went "even steven" with Christian Kirk.  And most of those years it hasn't been close.

Does Hopkins and his Ego know that we don't have to feed him "like the main man"?

If he's only interested in getting a ring now it may be possible. I'll have to ask him and get back to you lol

I think we need a couple things:

-OL improvement.  McGovern is a good start.  Edwards, also helpful.  Could be as simple as a Year 2 jump in Kromers scheme and Brown getting better.   Would love a Tackle at 27 though.

-Improved pass rush. Again, could be as simple as just getting Von back at some point.  Would love an added vet pass rush specialist though.

-WR2/3 upgrade. Could be Hopkins.  Could be a high draft pick .. Problem with the draft is who knows what’s there at 27 or RD2 for that matter.  I even think someone like Zay Flowers in the slot could be that missing piece, but will he be there?

Oh I agree. But like you said any scenario we cook up there are so many unknowns.

OK - but is DHop really the missing piece between the Bills and a SuperBowl Chance?

Keep in mind, again, he's missed 19 out of the last 2 years 34 games, and that it's hard to throw completions if the QB is running his way out of trouble or getting hurried.

I think he is and not only that we don't have to feed him like the main man.... I'm not saying guaranteed championship but I definitely think he at least doubles our odds. Takes the offense to whole new level.

Darnell Washington will kill 2 birds with one stone.....like having a second RT, great run blocker and a beast outlet valve that no DB can contest....

    and at 59 or 91 a steal.

Agreed but he probably goes between picks 30-40.

Yes, I'm not trying to ignore the important distinctions. I think Beane should be able to find a way to acquire Hopkins without crippling the future. Or, to be more precise, I'd be willing to take some hit to the future to get him. I don't think the cost has to be anywhere near what LA did.

Exactly. Because when all is said and done and another team swoops in I guarantee 95% of the league (and GM fan base) will be like "how the hell did Beane not beat that deal".

It’s also important to note that some of us truly do believe in Brown’s potential.

However, that potential could come by developing as a swing tackle and challenging Dawkins for LT down the line.

Perhaps Brown makes the jump and then our rookie has to play swing tackle this year before we sort out OL … fine by me.

Can never have too many good OL … look at what solid OL are getting paid compared to solid LB’s.  There’s a reason for that.

Like this outlook and file it under potential nice problems to have. Warming up to Darnell Wright at 27....

What if we pay 18 mil for Hopkins then Quentin Johnson would have fallen right into our lap in the draft?

Johnson is a stiff. He won't gain consistent separation in the NFL. People only like him because he's the only receiver in this draft with "prototypical" size.
