Agree with most of this, but I’d draft Johnston if he’s there based on traits.  Usually not a good enough reason to do so, but this draft blows and trading down may be tough.

I’d be happy with any of the top 4 WRs @ 27.   I might even be ok with Hyatt and Downs.  If drafting Downs @ 27 means we don’t draft a DT, LB or CB, then I’m good with it.

The more I watch of Hyatt- the more I dislike him.  But the speed trait would help me come around to it.

The more I watch Downs, the more I love him.  The only thing I don’t love is his size. If we got 8 years of a Cole Beasley 2020 play and trust (with Josh) I’d be happy with the pick.  Could happen. He’s tough to cover.

The more I watch Kincaid, the more I want him.  I think he’d be my first choice over every pass catcher

I'm thinking about the same. I've even warmed up to Mayer and possibly even Washington in the mix.

Bills could do a 3-4 with Philips at nose and Oliver, Jones DE

LB's then are OL - Vonn, Rousseau with ILB - Milano, Epensa (passing downs Benard).     Basham stays at DE backup. Backup nose is Settle Bryant

That would force us drafting backup OLB, DE. Still have Benard, Spector inside LB backups

Phillips would be a HORRIBLE nose. For his size he is one of the worst run defenders I've ever seen.

If there is a DJ Reader they should absolutely be in on him. I think they are alright at 1 tech this year with DaQuan Jones, but I wasn't a big fan of what we got from Tim Settle last year and if there is a young 1 tech they can groom to take the starting job next year they should be in on that. But I don't want just a big fat bloke. I want someone who has some penetration skills as well as being able to anchor in the run game.

    Well said as always Bill.

I would love a fat DT in round 3 or 4. Get a guy that can plug the middle.

Agreed. That's where Houston scored DJ Reader. As a bonus he was able to add more value with his ability to collapse the pocket. Get me one of those please.

im warming up to the idea of taking Washington RD1 (if a RT we like isnt there), and trading up round 2 to take one of top receivers left if this happens.

Washington helps improve the OL considerably, and helps free up Knox to run more, that very intriguing to me. then top the offense with another WR weapon. could make us very explosive

Washington also has untapped receiver potential, he can definitely do some damage against a defense. There's upside there.....how much is the question.

Thanks for such a deep, detailed, and well thought out insight.

Look we all watched him in preseason and in relief in season. It was bad. He sucked. My next thought out insight is this=we better find another option other than this guy .

    No, simply not true.

Rousseau is no JAG, that's simply nonsense. Elam looked like by the end of the year he'd figured zone out a bit, and that was his weakness. He was one of the few to play really well against Cincy. Looks like he's going to be a very good one.

Those two and Tre White (excuding the trade for Diggs) are the only three first rounders we got in the 20s, and not a single one can be accused of being a JAG, though Elam still has some things to prove.

The way Rousseau disappeared the rest of the year after Von went down and especially the Cincinnati game against guys off the street left a very bad taste in my mouth. I want the kid to succeed so bad but that was rough. Big year ahead for a few of our young dlinemen...

This is a made up concept amongst fans, just as trading Tremaine Edmunds last season was. Nothing Brandon Beane has said has led me to think he believes anything that you're saying he believes. On the contrary, he talks up how he'd like to keep him (and Gabe Davis) for years to come and is excited to see what he does as a Bill this season.

    Lies.

I sort of have the feeling Oliver will be traded, to.  I’m not sure how I feel about that, either.  I think Oliver has been good, not great, so far and if they have already determined that they don’t want to pay him after next season then, I can understand why they might move him.

Agreed. I think the bills brass believes even if Oliver had a completely healthy season from start to finish, he's not the kind of dominant player they hoped he'd become and will not be paid as such. And after the Simmons deal, hey, 10M for a guy some teams think they can get his potential out (and let's be real about it they're going to have an extension planned before trading for him) the Bills need to get something ahead of time for once. This is probably a done deal if the right guy falls in the draft or they just patiently wait for a veteran to shake loose after the draft, which usually happens.

So far the Bills haven't signed a single edge rusher in free agency. I can't be the only one that thinks this is still a need, not with Von Miller's timetable being up in the air.

There are still a lot of edge rushers available. Full list here:

    https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/free-agents/all/edge/available/

A few names that jump out to me:

    Bud Dupree

    Leonard Floyd

    Frank Clark

    Robert Quinn

    Yannick Ngakoue

    Melvin Ingram

    Justin Houston

    Carlos Dunlap

I'm guessing some of these will be signed after the draft. What should our plan be?

I would try to get one right now then if another one fell to us somewhere during the draft we could try to trade or dump boogie or somebody else.

I was surprised by Lawson last season. He still has some fire left. Would’ve preferred to bring him back instead of Phillips.

Although I'd only offer slightly above league minimum, I too would have preferred him back instead of Phillips, who is a complete sieve in run defense, and only flashes once in a blue moon with the pass rush. But hey he pumps up the drunks in the stadium 👍

the #1 reason we got bounced from playoffs is our O-line is below average

phi & kc have the best Olines in the league

it don't matter how many Dhop weapons we add or if we get a new LB

significantly improve the Oline or its another wasted year of josh

Its two reasons kinda a 1a 1b. Oline 1a for sure but 1b is weaker skill positions.

Food for thought: Maybe it's the same with Daboll? Look at how Daniel Jones performed last year.

    Interesting huh?

With elite coaching comes elite schemes and playoff success.

No doubt Allen would have hoisted at least one Lombardi Trophy by now.

Daniel Jones threw 15 touchdown passes. 15.

I voted for Wright Tackle.  For those of you pushing Zay Flowers, ***** is wrong with you?  Dude has the double whammy, the first and last names of two of the biggest draft flameouts in Bills history.  Just reading that name makes me throw up in my mouth....

You're thinking it wrong.....he can rectify two wrongs with one right! He would cleanse the demons....
