  1. I am cautiously optimistic. I have seen the whole "Charlie Brown, Lucy and the football" patterns with this team to be more and any optimism on my side is probably Homerism.

I think we might win a few out of the gate/in the early part of the season and surprise the media, maybe even get an SI cover, but am concerned that once the opposing teams get a sense for what our offense is planning on/using successfully they will adapt to try and shut down whatever we have that has worked.  At that point IMO the games will really be fought in the trenches and hopefully we will be up for the challenge.  At that point coaching and creativity or lack thereof will be the determining factor(s).  Probably an observation up there with "the sky is blue" and "it gets dark at night"  but that is what's on my mind.

Been saying this for 15+ years.

I've long since given up.  Teams always let Brady pick them apart with short crap.

Defensive coordinators in this league are ridiculously scared of giving up the big play, and would rather let up a 12 play drive than a deep pass.  This philosophy may work against most teams, but it never works against New England.

You would think coaches would have caught on, but against the Patriots it seems like teams are even MORE scared of letting up the big play.  They are intimidated.  And when facing intimidating opponents, their strategy is to play conservative and not make mistakes.

If I was facing the Patriots, I would double Gronkowski on virtually every play, go single/man on the outside and focus my coverage assignments on the slot receivers and backs.  If I was an AFC East team, I would probably have my defenders hit Brady late on every play (especially in the first matchup), but I'm a jerk like that.

That is too bad that they have not listened to you for 15+ years.  Makes sense to me but I don't think anyone will listen to me either.  One can always hope.
