I know you are just putting “assumptions” out there to prove a point, but I gotta tell you, the way you worded the male role in all this creeps me out (as a father of three girls). Way too much rationalization and downplaying language for me to stomach. No offense to you personally.

I just want to say that I definitely experienced the squickiness of the language pertaining to his actions.  That said...

I think it's an unpleasant but genuine reality.  Statistically, a huge chunk of men commit at least one sexual assault in their lives and will admit to behaviors that qualify as sexual assault as long as you don't refer to it as sexual assault.  The statistical range is roughly 1/5 to 1/3 of college males.  Paradoxically, young men that have lots of consensual sex are actually more likely to commit sexual assault because they are more likely to find themselves in scenarios where they expect/anticipate sex based on prior experiences, which leads to them either not noticing or ignoring cues of uncertainty or non-consent from someone they want to have sex with.  It's very likely that a large number of current Bills have committed acts that could be accurately described as sexual assault from the perspective of the other party, and most of those dudes are likely not even aware of it.

While it's at lower rates than men, women do it, too.  I am far from god's gift to sex appeal, and I had two different situations in college where women tried to take advantage of the fact that I was inebriated.  They didn't mean harm, they were just trying to get laid, but if I were not a 6' dude that felt comfortable just waiting for a moment to physically get away it could have been a very unpleasant situation.  At least two of my male friends that I know of also had close calls, including one where a girl was very clearly deliberately taking advantage of his inebriation and inexperience to try to keep him from leaving, and he ultimately had to be bailed out by friends who realized something was wrong.  At least one male friend that I know of was successfully assaulted by a woman in college.  It's an unfortunate element of human behavior that is very prevalent.

We have a daughter, a son, and another daughter on the way.  They're young, and we're doing our best to help them understand consent and boundaries both for themselves and others from the get-go.  Honestly, it's rough going, and we're going to have to work our butts off to get it to stick.  Not everybody innately understands the potential harm in what they wanteven when it's harmful, which is why it's so important to consistently hammer this stuff home.

Things that seem like they should be obvious aren't always obvious to otherwise decent, well-intentioned people, and sometimes otherwise decent, well-intentioned people commit sexual assault to get their perceived needs met.  It's why it's such a tough problem to solve, and why people struggle with it so much.  We want to believe that only monstrous people are capable of committing sexual assault, but sometimes it's normal, everyday folks, including the sweet, empathetic elementary education grad student that has always wanted to work with kids, posted a ton about her own genuine experiences during the height of #metoo... and also tried to prevent a drunk dude with a girlfriend from leaving her hotel room at the end of a group get-together when she was feeling lonely and horny as a college undergrad.

So sir enlighten me, please let me know exactly when the first report of this assault was so I can know just how big an ass I am . Thank you ...

And if you knew about this why didn't Beane know prior to him drafting this guy ?? Just asking .

Right after the alleged assault she called the police to report it.

Beane was aware of it and addressed it after we drafted him.

    Yikes.

I knew at least one would come forward, and that’s fine. Yes, there are people who milk it. I am all in on being a supportive father, but I’ve seen guys taking golf trips while the MIL came to town for a couple weeks to help. I think 6-8 weeks is excessive. My wife had two C-sections, and she agrees with me. That’s just my opinion, and you are free to disagree.

Happy 4th of July to everyone!

    Come forward?  Bruh.

Not just my opinion, also the stance of NYS law, which provides up to 12 weeks and thankfully provides protections against employers who think as you do.  Having the opinion that any state in this country provides too much parental leave is certainly one of the opinions of all time, and is of course your right as an American to have, as we celebrate the birth of our nation.

who milked things because he could for 2-3 months while everybody covered for him.

Oh, spending time caring for and bonding with your newborn and easing the load on the mother physically recovering from birth is just "milking things" now?

I took 6 weeks and then 8 weeks of PFL for my first two kids.  Working is easier.  Way easier.  Being down a person or two for injury, illness, unfilled position etc. is pretty commonplace, you adjust.  Heaven forbid a new dad opt not to shove all newborn parenting duties onto the mom, though.

The forgotten outcome of that thread is that after week 5 just about every person on this board, including the person who started that thread, agreed that adding a WR was a necessary move. Beane himself has defend the Cooper trade by pointing out our offense scored 7 more PPG with him in the lineup. They are hoping that Palmer can replace or improve on what Cooper brought to the offense and that Coleman takes a big step forward in his development.

The actual forgotten outcome of that thread is the Bills were, again, offensive juggernauts that did not, in fact, struggle to win more than six games, and that Amari Cooper was a meaningful contributor for exactly two games last season.

MVS had an objectively better season for New Orleans in the same role that Cooper did, and it is hard to argue that Cooper offered something MVS did not.  Cooper did not save our offense any more than keeping MVS would have.  Obviously we all had high hopes for Cooper, but what he actually delivered wasn't particularly impactful.

Who did we get that's a difference maker? Looks like a bunch of depth and role players. Teams that win it all have stars and pro bowlers. We have Josh and who else? Don't say it's because of where we pick. Look at our draft vs the Ravens or Eagles. We need pro bowlers to move the needle

We took a ton of athletic, high-ceiling players, though?

The only thing that idiot broke was the world record for getting the most out of the dumbass Browns in a trade by somehow getting us a 3rd round pick.

He didn’t do a goddamn thing to get us out of that drought.  All defense. His dumb ass was just along for the ride.

This... feels like an excessive amount of animosity for a player that is by all accounts professional and provides a high floor of QB play.

I thought the spot on the play before was worse.

But it's not the stripes fault they couldn't get a foot when they needed it.

They did, though.  That's what makes it the stripes' fault.

They got the foot.  Refs said "nah".  Kincaid also had the first down, which they spotted short to make that screw job possible in the first place.

I'm generally pretty level-headed when it comes to ref calls, that was an absolutely atrocious sequence, though.

...........only reason he didn't is cause his arms got wrapped up by the defender.

Watch it again and tell me that he wouldn't have tried it if his arms were free.

    It's actually disturbing.

    The Josh Allen Experience, baby!

Live by the Josh, die by the Josh-- I'll take the occasional insanity if it means we get the rest of the package.

I don't actually watch, it's more just being aware of the treatment.  Everything they show is a Bills loss and then we wonder why people think we're a team of losers

Literally only certain segments of our own "fans" think we are a team of losers.  There are few teams whose fans would not envy our sustained run if success.

You’re still ignoring him being a TOP 10-15 PLAYER IN THE ENTIRE DRAFT CLASS!!!!!!

Only 3 guys selected after him have provided more value to their teams, and the Bills drafted one of them!

How is that a reach? There were literally only 3 other choices drafted in the 220(ish) picks taken after him that could have been better value than Rousseau.

Yes, but have you considered the following unassailable argument?

    "McBeane Bad"

I think it’s about time to stop believing your eyes are wrong and admit the fact he wasn’t going anything in Cleveland and isn’t doing much in Buffalo.  He’s lost a step and isn’t the #1 they thought/hoped they were getting.  He’s a solid vet who’s reliable, but no longer “special”, he was simply attractive bc of the contract.

IDK, I have it on good authority that Cooper is the savior of the Bills' offense and the only reason our WRs are able to get any production.

  13. I really, really want Hollins back next season.

Dude is an absolutely perfect WR4.  Could not ask for a better fit for that role.  Blocking, trashtalking madman that scores TDs in the redzone and is a menace on special teams.

Why? Our defense has been stellar?  You don’t think there’s a pause for concern here?

We just dominated a team whole not doing anything resembling "bend but don't break nonsense" on defense and you legit can't even be happy for a moment

Unfortunately our defense playing McD’s bend don’t break nonsense will likely struggle to stop Lamar and Henry.

Again hope I’m wrong but we’re not built to stop B’more’s kind of scheme and talent.

I’m not worried about our offense generally, but if we get behind because we’re struggling to get stops, it’s over.  The run will need to be abandoned.  Once we’re forced to be one dimensional and throw all the time, start the bus.

    Bro, get therapy

Look, I get that you don't like that Beane brought in a top WR like Cooper.  Someone who you should otherwise love considering he's a great player, not a diva and not a criminal.  And in the Bills' case, incredibly cheap.  So you invent something else.

He's a huge addition to the team.  And he hasn't even reached his full potential in the offense yet.

I am thrilled we added Cooper to the team.  The price was cheap for a player of his caliber, and the more weapons, the better.

Still not the savior of the offense.  He fills the role that one of MVS/Claypool were unsuccessfully brought in to fill.  It's an important role, and it's worth noting that MVS has had some high-production games for New Orleans, so it isn't as though it was a particularly bad bet, just didn't work out.

Cooper has not been a #1 WR for the Bills, and that's okay.  Still a good addition to the squad.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say he would be playing like this w the Raiders. And they'd be 11-3 or thereabouts w Allen Bowers and Jakobi Meyers

You think the 2-12 Raiders would be 11-3 with Allen at QB?

The Saints missed the playoffs multiple times with Drew Brees under Payton.  QB goes a long way, but it isn't everything.  Allen is extremely capable of playing clunkers, particularly when he feels like he has to do it all.

Many were claiming it was the worst group in the league. A few even claimed, hilariously, that it was historically bad. I think average is a lot better than what many Bills fans expected, and certainly a lot better than expected nationally.

Many didn't like the Coleman pick. Many scoffed at Mack Hollins and questioned his roster position all offseason and into the season.

So, I think it is not accurate to say "the wide receivers are essentially who we thought they were".

Yeah, loving the revisionism going on in this thread.

Lots of folks acting like they didn't insist we were supposed to be a bottom-half passing attack on a playoffs-missing team that wouldn't be able to move the ball at all.

We traded for, Cooper, sure.  He replaced MVS and has been on the field for what, 1/3 of our games this season?  And an active factor in what, two games?  We could have never made the trade and we would still be a top offense on a team waltzing into the 2-seed.
