Seems like many more famous people are dying.  May she R.I.P.

There’s just more famous people getting to that age. RW was still from the old Hollywood era.

Imagine what it’s going to be in 40 years with all the people who were in the cable channel explosion, reality shows, and then a bit later with YouTube / IG stars.

  2. There's always a Buffalo connection, as Bills' Dawson Knox thankfully learns to retrieve lost wallet

Bills tight end Dawson Knox and his lost wallet were reunited in Las Vegas on Monday night in another example of the uniqueness of Bills Mafia.

For anyone who’s lost their wallet and experienced the slight-to-major panic it can cause, this is a nice little vignette… and shows that social media isn’t all bad.

  3. If they can’t keep nice grass in Tennessee into Nov.-Dec., I just question the logic / intelligence of this Bills stadium planning.

Nice concept to play on grass. But the reality will kick us in the face in the first season of it. It’s not enough to keep a field warm to get grass to grow and be a stable playing surface. In the north, grass stops taking in nutrients in mid-October and starts to go into a dormant state. If you’re going to try to fool Mother Nature, it needs a lot of light, the right amount of water & nutrients, and sometimes it’s more art than science… and sometimes despite everything you do, it goes breasts-up and you’ll have to cart in replacement sod for one or two games (that in one year just for it, will cost 1/4 of what a monofilament turf would) like they do in GB and Pitt many times, and then it’s still unstable footing, sod coming up in clumps, and guys getting knees and ankles trashed.

Prediction: we invest in all of the costs for grass, try it for two years and then have to switch to artificial turf due to feasibility & cost issues as well as pressure from the league & NFLPA.

Again… if they can’t grow decent enough grass in Tennessee below the Mason-Dixon, what freaking hope is there in Buffalo?

Yeah I mean our base defense is fine and dandy, but like you say: the lack of well designed or creative pressure packages is a big issue. I suppose it doesn’t help that a primary candidate for a blitz, our middle linebacker Edmunds, is so brutally horrible at it.

This is where a talented DC separates themselves from the pack. If you know your front four struggle to generate pressure and you can’t figure out a way to compensate for that, what are you even doing? Anyone can call base defense all drive while a talented QB is picking you apart.

Edmunds for the last four years when blitzing, actually SEEKS OUT and ENGAGES with a blocker. Has anyone informed him that this is not how one blitzes? The same is true about half the time for Milano. So it’s like… are they being coached to do this? I don’t understand it. There are times before Von where it’s like we send 7 and STILL haven’t gotten even a sniff at a QB, who then calmly hit a wide open receiver. It’s infuriating.

McD’s response the few times reporters have asked him about Jim Johnson at pressers has been a mixture of a smile that indicates fondness and respect, but also an air of ‘I don’t do things quite the same way he did.’ McD was fired by JJ. So… I dunno.

  5. IIRC, the reason some teams didn’t wear a second helmet & throwbacks / alts this past season was due to supply chain issues and the rather late timing of the announcement by the league office. Paul Lukas of UniWatch has said previously that more teams will be involved next season.

Some of the most looked-forward-to are a Kelly green set from the Eagles, red for the Bills, silver for Seattle throwbacks, creamsicles for TB. These will be for two games a season… possibly three since the 17th game was added.

Houston seems to be approaching for a redesign in 2024, unknown if it will be major or just tweaks.

The Cardinals may be doing a new set for next season depending on whether they initiated a notice to the league & Nike last year (the planning for these things has to be done at least a year in advance and notice must be given to the league a year prior). It’s been far too long with this set of pinstripes and color blocks and red yoke. Please let them go back to a classic look like the Tillman era Arizona flag on the sleeves with the new angry bird logo… rather than a complete redo that Nike has proved they cannot be trusted with.

Rams may be ditching the bone-color duds, and introducing a new yellow jersey, which may be a throwback.

Disappointing that we didn’t bring out the standing buffalo throwbacks for at least one game this year. I’m not sure whether they will have to be retired if the red helmets do re-appear as those would become our alts. Not sure if we could drop our red color rush and have the standing buffalo in their place. Dallas, for example, brought out two throwbacks this past season so it should be *possible*. I, for one, have never been a big fan of the reds / ketchup bottle look.

I think the writing was on the wall as to how badly Beane botched the WR position when he signed brown and Beasley off the streets. I think it also had something to do with Allen asking for more help cause he didn’t trust guys like McKenzie and maybe even Davis after the constant drops and bad routes.

And, at that, there wasn’t an improvement.

McKenzie doesn’t cut it as a third / slot. Shakir showed some ability but I’m just not sure where he would fit. Johnston out of TCU is a dream on the other side from Diggs and Gabe needs to step up — drops and inconsistency are maddening. Why do other teams complete EVERYthing and we’re always like “oops”?! Even Diggs has had hands of stone at times. KC can sign guys off the street and that week they look All-Pro. The idea that one guy can anchor the room is passé — elite O teams have two or three marquee guys at WR/TE. Jefferson, Theilen, Don Beebe’s son, Hockenson. Hill, Waddle, Gesicki. Chase, Higgins, Hurst. Evans, Godwin. etc.

Time to upgrade the Center position and get some cap savings there. Morse is one bell ring from retirement.

  7. Putting so much money and resources into the DL / defense in general has gotten us… this. Can’t stop ANYone in the run, opposing QBs who aren’t dog 💩 complete EVERYthing. … What does it matter to invest in DL when offenses are allowed to hold with impunity in today’s league? Let Edmunds walk, let Ed walk.

Offense has been kept status quo with an expectation, maybe, that Josh will make chicken poop look like chicken salad. We couldn’t move the ball for anything.

Need to invest HEAVILY in offense in FA and Draft. That’s where it is in the modern game. WR needs massive upgrade; Gabe is not who we thought he could be. OL needs upgrade at RT, LG, and C.

Interestingly, my son and I only made it through 3 episodes of Andor before losing interest.  And we’ve really enjoyed all of the other ones (except for maybe Boba Fett).  What am I missing?  Does it get better?

Andor is more of a slow burn until the heist ep.

  9. Did I spy the R5-D4 droid (that was the one Uncle Owen first tells Luke to get from the Jawas in ANH) in Mando’s N1 droid compartment? How awesome of a callback detail would that be if Peli Moto owned it after it puked oil all over itself at the Lars homestead? She bought it from the Jawas… maybe the one she dated for a few months? Some people 💩 on fan service moments like these, but I love them! Dave and John have been great executive producers & writers.

And no, there isn't an "alarming number of people having cardiac arrests lately." There is, however, an alarming amount of loons on social media claiming there are.

Her admitted heavy drug use, including cocaine and opioids also did her heart no favors.

That NBC Today Show concert in the early 00s where she stumbled around and was slurring the whole song was just sad. RIP

I think that would be a mistake, Allen has been literally running for his life most games and this OL needs a boost in a major way.

It makes less and less sense to spend on DL, and D in general, when the league & refs allow / turn a blind eye to OLs holding on every play.

League wants scoring, at the expense of having good defensive players but getting boned by the rules changes so in favor of offenses. They want an arms race and comparatively besides Diggs, we’ve gotten Josh just a few drones to work with. I mean, he can do a hell of a lot by himself, but if we got him some REAL WRs and better protection on IOL & RT who were also not liabilities in the run blocking… we’d be unstoppable on O against anyone.

  12. Caught a couple of TCU games and thought that Max Duggan’s playing style is akin to Josh’s, especially on rushes. Like… Josh Allen’s mini-me, as he’s just 6’0”. He declared for the draft iirc, but don’t know where he might go. I could get behind using a late-rounder on him in the third & eventually backup QB slot so there would be more continuity to the O if, god forbid….

  13. I did some inset shelves in our garage upstairs bonus room. And we did a pine tongue and groove ceiling. Nothing too complicated or fancy.

Much more a finishing guy, myself. Or re-finishing. Have gotten several pieces of furniture on my area’s Buy Nothing FB page and Marketplace and did some minor repair / filling / sanding and stain & poly or the Polyshades stuff.

When do we get decent content for 4k TV’s? I have a couple, but I’m not sure why.

True, mostly. Some streaming content looks absolutely brilliant, but until football goes 4K, HD on regular teevee is still going to be the norm. Football really drove the SD => HD conversion.

The no wires thing also is assuming you only stream, including no HD antenna.

I saw the box that wirelessly transmits signals to these teevees on a CES page and it does have an antenna input as well as HDMI etc.

That wasn't the same issue, and wasn't after a hit - at least not shortly after. On his final play he was a decoy and wasn't contacted. The cause of his incident was a blocked artery. Completely different set of circumstances. With modern testing they likely would have known about that.

Yes, just looked up a bigger article with much more detail.

If anything, the fact that this is the first time in all the history of the NFL that such a thing occurred shows exactly why you dont need any rule changes.

In a piece shortly after last night, there was a bit about sports players who had serious or fatal injuries on the field / court. The soccer player last year, a couple of basketball players, and a Detroit Lions player who had a heart attack on the field after a hit from Dick Butkus. He was pronounced dead at the hospital 50 minutes later, but he was dead on the field immediately after the hit. It was late in the 4th quarter and they finished the game, going through the motions.

There might be required additional chest plate padding, but that’s likely the extent, but even that is unlikely.

The league might insist on some pad changes to protect the chest a bit more.     We were actually talking in pregame about how little padding coverage most players have now.    I heard a medical professional say this was like the odds of being struck by lightning.........and yet, when there is lightning sports teams are pulled off the field in sports at all levels...........

That was definitely on my mind last night soon afterward. The minimal amount of padding — especially among WRs and DBs — compared to even 10 years ago is kinda insane.
