I find this talk funny. What did he do to be in high demand this offseason vs last offseason? But I wouldn’t be shocked to see him get a raise. But $15m?

He somehow made people forget his tape from the previous season and watched from afar while his former coach was proven inept and consequently fired. He also played on a team with the best-development story at QB in a long time, possibly ever. He was a the top QB pick in a strong QB draft for something that Chicago saw, and teams in need of a QB see a young, athletic, strong-armed, intelligent and team-first player with upside. He’ll get paid north of $10million annually and there are sufficient signs pointing to that being a possible strong value for the right team.

The most telling thing is that the Giants are after him.  Daboll was the one observing him in practice.  If Daboll is interested and thinks the Giants should be trying to to sign him potentially at a starter price... that speaks volumes

So what he's a Boston fan, and will talk himself into backing the Patriots, Bruins, Celtics and Red Sox, but he is a great listen, knows his stuff and The Ringer has great podcasts and articles.  Love pop culture too.

So he's talking about the SB and in two separate podcasts said about the game just 'how bad Josh Allen and Bills fans must have felt watching the game in disgust, knowing how much better they were'.

He also lamented seeing, Allen, Burrow, Mahomes, Herbert, Jackson(not on the same level) in the conference, and the Pats have Jones.

He talks like someone here on TBD who's a fan.  Great cast of characters and contributors too.

You lost me pretty early on 😂

For show only. Frazier will be back

Agreed.  They have been working together for a long time and have a connection.  It's a little tip of the hat from Schoen to Frazier, even though both know he isn't going to get hired as the HC.

With that being said, Frazier is a good culture guy.  He obviously isn't the greatest tactician, but you could do a lot worse than Frazier for a team looking to get things turned around.  Is he the guy I would want for a super bowl run to be in charge?  No, probably not.  But do I think he would be a god-awful HC for a team (like the Giants) looking to build some culture and rebuild?  No.

Regardless of how good/bad of a hire he would actually be, he won't be hired this year for sure.  💯

  4. Shaq turned in a pretty high quality season in his contract year for the Bills.  He def has the capability to play at a starter level, but I question whether he has the motivation to maintain that level of play if he is getting paid.  He hasn't done anything since (that opinion is stat based-I haven't watched many dolphins/jets games aside from when they are playing the Bills), and he didn't do much until that one year.

Maybe worth trying to bring back if he can sign up for a prove it type of deal?

  5. Singletary is by far the best RB on the roster if he isn't dropping passes or fumbling the ball.

His early season fumblitis seemed to have landed him in the dog house in favor of the more sure handed Moss, but it looks like the Bills have realized that he is a part of the formula if they want to have an effective running/dump-off game

  6. Caught the Amerks game last night in Rochester, it was pretty wild.  Quinn, Krebs, and Peterka all had multi point games as the Amerks scored 7 goals.  Quinn actually is leading the AHL in scoring at the moment.  The prospects are cleaning up in Rochester, future isn't looking so bad.

    Also, there was this gem:

Amerks winning 6-3, Jankowski scores making it 7-3.  He celebrates in the goalie's crease and goalie hits him 😂

  7. I watched White a bit in the Jets game vs the Patriots.  Game was one sided obviously (Patriots crushed the Jets), but there were a few throws where White really jumped off the screen.  He seems like he has some potential, the question is how much?  Is he a decent backup or is he a potential starter (or neither and got lucky for a game)?  Hopefully he just got lucky.  If the guy can get the Jets of all teams to win against decent competition (Bengals), maybe he's got something?

Also, where do we put him now in the ordering of QBs from that 2018 draft?  I'd probably already put him ahead of Mason Rudolph just based on his two games

  8. Dune (2021) was spectacular for two reasons, imo:

    1.  visuals visuals visuals.  movie is breathtaking in terms of its scenery and cinematography

    2.  stays true to the novel

    How is the book series?

I normally read series of books and Dune has always been on the list at some point.

Is it an easy read throughout, even with the sci fi and the hallucinogenic stuff?  Also the change in authors?

I can't say that I've read all of the books, but I have read the first two and considered reading more.  The first two were pretty good, but if you read reviews for the ones past the two, the series changes drastically for the worse (in most people's opinions).

I'm not sure I would say that it is an "easy" read per se.  Herbert tends to go into detail with regards to a lot of the ecology/science.  But if you can make it through that, then you will probably find the first two books to be worth your time

  9. good list.  i will add 2 other candidates (probably slightly less important than the ones in your list):

    1.  fourth and 8 from roughly the 35 and we decided to go for it.  We have a great kicker from long distance and (if I recall correctly) the game was 10-3 and a field goal would have made it a 2 score game.  I think the announcers said it would have been a 53 yard field goal?

    2.  the allen fumble (forced by watt) on 3rd down in pittsburgh territory in first quarter

I wonder for those of you who watched the league pre-expansion do you feel this way about other expansion teams? I have wondered whether my lack of care for the Jags is because they don't have the rich history of many other teams, there are no grainy films of the Jaguars in black and white. I don't feel that way about the Texans but then I kind of see them more as the continuation of the Houston franchise than the Titans but I also don't feel that way about Carolina. It is just Jacksonville. They are just really nothingness to me and I actually know a lot of Jags fans here in London, including a couple who followed them pre-International Series, but I dunno..... they are so meh.

Carolina at least has a history of success.  Jacksonville has yet to have a great QB (unless you count Mark Brunell), make the super bowl, or be consistently good (once again, unless you count the Mark Brunell years as being "good").  Even if you count the Brunell years as being good... it's been more or less 20 years since you've been able to string together consecutive good seasons.  You pair that with being in a small city and it is a recipe for apathy from everyone outside of Jacksonville.

However, with that being said.. I think Lawrence is good enough that he may end up forcing people to start caring about Jacksonville.  Drafting him could be a real turning point for them

Taiwan Jones and Daryl Johnson:  I am still struggling to get them on the final 53 without injuries coming into play.  Not sure who gets cut to make room for one of them, and currently I still have neither making the team.  And barring more injuries, I can't see a path where we keep both.

I suspect that unless Breida really impresses in preseason game 3, he's most likely to be cut in favor of Taiwan.  So if Singletary/Moss go down, we will have Gilliam or Taiwan to tote the ball in a pinch plus whatever RB (if any) that ends up on the practice squad.  Breida hasn't looked great and he only has a (relatively) small guaranteed amount https://billswire.usatoday.com/2021/03/29/contract-details-buffalo-bills-matt-breida/

DJ I'm not so sure about.  I think a lot of the players like him based on the videos the Bills have put out, so I'd be surprised if they don't find a way to keep him for the sake of team chemistry.  I'm just not sure how!

edit:  it's really crazy how talented this team is.. from top to bottom.  i suspect whoever the bills cut with their final cuts will be picked up elsewhere
