I don’t agree that they are terrible.  In fact, there are many respected members from a national level including Vic Carucci, Tim Graham and yes even Jerry Sullivan to a lesser extent.  Just because you don’t like the media personalities in Buffalo, doesn’t mean they aren’t good at their job.

If you consider his job to get as many people to click on his writing as possible, then yes he is very good.  If you consider it to be putting out meaningful factually accurate pieces that are well written and contain interesting information that is a step above what I would find on a fan site, he fails miserably.

  2. This is the time of year where you can't really take anything a GM says to heart.  You know that Beane is looking at any and all possible paths to move up the board.  If he wasn't, he wouldn't be doing his job properly.  I bet that he has had conversations with every GM that is in front of him outside of maybe the Jets and Dolphins to get preliminary ideas of what it would take to move up.  In addition, I bet he has had some conversations with the teams behind him with them asking what it would take for them to move up in the event that things don't go his way in the QB market.   He seems to go about his job very methodically, and the fact that he doesn't seem to make snap decisions and moves is probably a good thing for this team.  He also seems to come to the same conclusion that general logic dictates in many situations, especially with trading players and signing new players.  Personally I like that about him.  That being said, I believe he will do everything in his power to get his QB this year.  I can't see him making all of the moves he has made since his joining the team, and him stopping at 12 without at least trying to go further up.

I get that you might not line Sully.  He’s an opinionated columnist designed to write articles that get people talking.  Every city has writers like this.

How on earth though is Sully the major reason why Buffalo sports media is in terrible shape? And how can you justify that the Buffalo media is in terrible shape?

What major buffalo media outlet has even a respectable lineup of contributors?  The Buffalo News is awful.  WGR still employs guys like Mike Schopp.  ESPN has a Patriots guy covering the bills who shows open dislike for the team.  Tell me how Buffalo has good sports media.  Sully was the first in a huge wave of click baiting morons with no substance to their contributions other then titles made to convince people to click on your article.  There are very few guys that work for the larger media outlets in the area that even do a halfway decent job.  The only people that do halfway decent sports writing are for much smaller media outlets, that are just holding a foothold because places like TBN, andWGR would rather get their clicks then actually get good content, while ESPN treats buffalo like an afterthought and the butt end of a joke that isn't worth bothering to cover.

  4. Great write up.  Very insightful.  That being said, I've been saying it for months now.  If the Bills can find a way to get Rosen, they need to do it.  I don't care about the cost.  We've been building up draft ammunition since this staff was hired.  It's time for them to get their guy and make us a contender.  Rosen is the guy that will do that.  I'm happy they got the drought off their back, but they still need to look for a superbowl.  Keep improving, don't let last year be a flash in the pan.  I want to see the Bills win the division, not sneak in with help in the wildcard slot.  Imagine a home playoff game, it would be nuts.

  5. Sullivan couldn't write a truly insightful article if the best football writer in the world gave him a first draft to submit.  The guy is just terrible.  All of his articles are click bait filled nightmares that have no factual backing or even content worth reading.  All he does is slap up an attention grabbing title with pure garbage in the article himself.  I refuse to even give his articles a click.  He is the worst in the business and should have been fired years ago.  He is a major reason why buffalo sports media is in the terrible shape that it is in now.

  6. I wouldn't be pleased to give up next year's first, but as long as the target isn't Allen, I'd be happy with the result.  The fact is that QB is the most important position in football, and you likely will not win a superbowl without a franchise guy.  Do what you need to do to get the guy you think has the best chance to become that franchise guy for you.  Worry about the rest later.  As it is, this team is not bad enough to be a top ten pick next year, and the QB class is an unknown.  You have the extra ammunition to get there, so do it!

The first lesson of draft projection is admit your mistakes as well as your successes. I think it would be really refreshing to see the NFL Network guys do a show where they talk through their misses.

That would be a really cool show.  Maybe include some insight as to the difference between what they saw pre draft and what actually translated onto the field in the NFL, or where the prospect went wrong.
