    18 (tie). Buffalo Bills
    Record: 8-7 (.498)
    Top needs: QB, LB, DT
The skinny: With Marcell Dareus gone, the Bills might decide to lock in on finding a quality DT early in the draft. They need to improve at linebacker. QB could be the top priority, even though Tyrod Taylor is signed through next season and they drafted Nathan Peterman in 2017.

    25. Buffalo Bills (via Chiefs)
    Chiefs record: 9-6 (.489)
Bills top needs: QB, LB, DT
The skinny: This is the pick the Bills acquired when the Chiefs traded up to land Patrick Mahomes in the 2017 draft. The linebacker position should be addressed, and DT is a need now that Marcell Dareus has been shipped to Jacksonville. The Bills should be looking for an upgrade at QB, too.

I would also add RG and RT to the mix although probably not in the 1st but those spots definitely need upgrading.  Hell even Center.

I just don't get some of these mocks with the Bills passing on QBs. That's been our biggest weakness along with the DL.

It's only the 1st round.  I have no problem with the Bills passing if Rosen and Darnold are going 1 and 2.  The only other guy I would want is Jackson.  I'm starting to wane on Rudolph as a 1st rd pick.  He may go 2nd.  QB's will get inflated but I don't want the Bills REACHING on picks.  I'd be happy taking Rudolph or Falk in rd 2 or 3 and bolster up other areas in rd 1 if Darnold and Rosen are out of the picture.

right away as in year 1.  they had Goff on the bench for a few games and people were freaking out and they had to play him.  you can't have a QB sitting on the bench and developing.  they need to play.  drafting a later round guy in hopes he will develop does not work and nobody does that.  they are either good right away or they flame out and the main reason is because you can't carry a guy that can't play on your roster, there's not enough spots.  if they see they stink right off the bat then they are quick to cut them loose (Cardale).  which is really too bad because at 21-23 yrs old who can really say they were the best versions of themselves at that point in their lives?  if the Bills get a veteran starter or stick with Tyrod and then also draft a QB, how much longer do you think Peterman has?  no time to develop.  you either do well right off the bat when you get your shot or you are on your way out of the league.  it happens that fast

So we just needed clarification on "right away" that's all.  I think as far as guys panning out whether taken early and thrown in "right away" or taken a little later and given time to develop really hinges on their situation.  I don't think everyone's situation can be described the same way.  In any case, I'm eager to see what we will do.

    Who started ahead of Wentz?

I stand corrected he did start from day 1.  Goff did not.

?? All of them did so thank you for proving my point

They did not.  It depends on what you mean by "right away"?  If you mean week 1 then you are wrong which is what I took you to mean.  Only Wentz started week 1.  Watson did not start and would have never seen the field as early as he did if Savage did not get hurt.  Trubisky did not start week 1.

Most 1st round QB's play right away these days. There's only so many roster spots available. Teams don't have room for project players. When was the last time a team drafted and developed a QB? Jimmy G is the only one I can think of and he's not even on the team that developed him anymore. When you are a team like the Pats you can develop someone. Other teams don't have that luxury. Rosen is a day 1 NFL starter. We need someone like that. Otherwise plan B is get a veteran QB and maybe then once that position is solidified you have an opportunity to develop a young guy. We need a QB now so if you are investing heavily at the position it needs to be someone who can play and make an impact right away

Goff, Wentz, Watson, Trubisky none of them started right away.

  6. I'm a Luke Falk fan.  He has some questions about arm strength but there is one trait that he has that is actually more refined than most of the guys in this draft.  He goes through his reads and progressions faster than just about anyone in the draft.  When you turn on the tape watch his helmet at the snap.  His head is on a swivel.  Most of the time the football is out of his hands.  He likes throwing over the middle of the field.  Now sometimes he holds onto the football too long but I think a lot of his issues can be easily corrected except for arm strength.  That's the question mark.

Falk is tough for me to grade.  I see him as a 2nd -4th round guy with a lot of talent.  And I definitely think he can be a special QB.

Sit Peterman.  If the Bills have a chance to make the play offs and he loses as a starter, he will not be forgiven by many fans.  Let Taylor start.  If he flames out and they are behind, put Peterman.  That way he does not shoulder the blame in a loss.

He is already being blamed too.  On Redzone he just mentioned if the Bills win next week but the Chargers also win then the Bills are out because of the "Peterman game where they chose to bench Tyrod Taylor"

    Media is terrible man.

  8. LOL lots of funny answers but to me the Clay drop was pivotal.  Then to compound it with the KB no TD... Only the Patriots get these calls.

The 1st and goal at the 10 and then the 8 yard loss on the screen play to DiMarco.  Was still 13-13 at the time. I knew when they just got the FG it was most likely over as they didn't get the kill.

Regardless they stopped them on 4th and goal next series.  Well technically they did, the powers that be thought otherwise

Man I hated that call.  Geez it was terrible.

How did you not see translatable traits in today's game?  His first touchdown was a bullet over the middle on a deep slant.  His second touchdown, he threw a very accurate pass while on the run after avoiding pass rushers.  His third touchdown, he threw a perfect deep ball to a wide receiver in stride.  How were those throws not translatable?  We don't have a guy that can do that now.  His deep middle slant throw was a big time NFL throw.  None of the other QBs in this draft class could make that pass with that type of zip.  His potential is so high.  He needs time to be groomed behind a vet.  I hope we will be patient as a franchise if we get him.

He has taken snaps from under center.  His coach is the same coach that was with Carson Wentz and he has talked about both being in the same light.  He didn't throw that many passes today and still had some outstanding passes.  If he gets coached well, someone will get him playing at that high level on a more consistent basis and I hope it is us.

He had more talent around him last year and everyone who scouts him and talks about him knows that.  He is playing with garbage players.  Don't look at the numbers, look at the potential in his ability.

I gave him the positives that I saw.  He's a physically imposing QB.  He has a big arm.  I've seen  quite a few of his games.  He's just very RAW and that's not something I want for the Bills.

  10. Allen is playing in the Potato Bowl right now.  He's thrown 3 TD's but color me UNIMPRESSED.  I'm looking for translatable traits and other than his frame and arm I just ughhhh.  I wouldn't mind taking him LATE 1st but he can't start right away.  He's raw.  Certainly shouldn't trade up for him IMO.

Now of course I will say, this looks like a regression from last year.  I watched a three of his games last year and he looked better.  But even the Allen of last year to me I wouldn't trade two 1st rd picks to grab him.

  11. The biggest problem for us is that we don't do a lot of what gives NE trouble.  The blueprint has always been press man with pressure from 4 man rush.  We don't do a lot of that.  Our scheme is zone heavy.  In any case, we have to stop the run first.  I'm sure NE remembers the last game and will be calling run plays early and often.

  12. The Titans loss yesterday did not change their seeding.  They are still in it and the Ravens are the 6.  The Ravens actually have an easy road closing out against the Colts and the Bengals.  The Titans are the ones with the toughest road as they close out against the Rams and the Jags.  We need to win out and the Titans need to lose out and we are in for sure.

LB seems less of a need with Milano starting

Milano is at Weak Side.  We need a real middle guy and Smith is that guy.  I could see them definitely pulling the trigger on Smith and Vea if they are there.  They want a strong defense and right now it's not not that because they do not have the players.  And with Kyle Williams most likely retiring, I'd say they need two DT's.

Forget Baker Mayfield, I'd really really like Josh Allen. I don't consider myself an expert but I would trade up with San Fran for Josh Allen. He is a pure pocket passer, 6'5 and got some wiggle, reminds me of Big Ben.

Oh and btw, McShay picked Roquan Smith with our 1st, that's not a bad pick but I think that's a bit early for him. I'd love him in the 2nd round.

If he continues his outstanding play he's not going to be there in the 2nd round.

If you keep waiting around for the perfect QB then you will never draft one. Pretty much every QB will have concerns with their game. What’s important is whether he gets put into a good situation to allow development. With Dennison I question that but I do think we should draft one of these guys high if the opportunity presents itself.

I don't think we should wait around for a perfect QB.  My point is outside of Mayfield, who shows great leadership and has that edge to him, I'm not a fan.  And looking at what Dennison would like I don't see these guys fitting that.  A perfect fit for Dennison is a Matt Hasselbeck type of guy.  It's not about waiting around for the perfect QB, but it is about finding the "perfect fit".
