  1. Field position is IMO the most under-appreciated factor in football analytics. While I am miffed about Levitre, I don't view these things as binary. Paying a guy who gives the offense 20-50 fewer yards to have to gain makes sense to me, especially when he sometimes puts points on the board and fills a void on defense

+1. Plus, he had the 10th best punt return average in League history last year destroying Hesters best average by over a yard. No one had a better average since 1974. He is a HUGE weapon we need on teams and we need weapons on all sides of the ball, including special teams.

  2. To the people that want to draft Matt Barkley didn't learn anything from the Mark Sanchez at #5 in 2009, didn't learn anything from at # 10 in Matt Leinart in 2006. USC QB's are babies. While very QB thats ever drafted looked awesome in his highlight reels, what about when the game is on the line and his team is down by 10+ points. Geno Smith folded in games like that this year.

I'm hoping Doug Marrone has some say in this years draft and the Bills skip on the prospect for reaching for a scrub QB.

This is the most ridiculous thing ever! I'm not a USC fan, but lets look at the facts:

3 USC started in the NFL last year. More than any other school

    A. Carson Palmer was a top 10 QB in the league before his injury. 2 time probowler. nice career.

    B. Mark Sanchez lead his team to one game of the Super Bowl twice. Should have made the probowl in 2011 minus his int's. 1 bad year in 4 year career.

    C. Matt Cassel has had an average career. 1 time probowler. Lead his team to the playoffs once, which is more than I can say for any Bills QB in the last decade.

I know none of them are of the "Elite" status, but to say USC QB's are babies is insane. And yes, I think Barkley is clearly the top QB this year. Barkley, T. Wilson, Glennon, Geno Smith and Nassib are my top 5 after 2 months of watching film.

  3. That you're so desperate you'd seriously consider Russ Grimm? When he graduated from college he didn't know the Redskins played in Washington DC.

I'm not desperate to consider Grimm. I just stated that he wasn't give much to work with. I don't know much about the guy really. I simply took a look at what kind of attention the Cards paid to the offensive line the past few years. And it wasn't much. That's all I was saying.

  4. The Cardinals have one of the worst lines in the league. The Bills need to hire a smart man, Grimm is not a smart man.

Not saying I want Grimm, however the Cards drafted 1 offensive lineman in the last 3 drafts. One! That 1 lineman was the 151st pick Senio Kelemete in the 5th round this year. Hard to build a squad with that kind of attention.

My mistake. 2 offensive lineman. Bobby Massie in the 4th round (#112) this year also. But, my point is still the same.

  5. I don't care what the injury is. He played like crap this year. Did anyone else see Sanchez stuff arm him yesterday and laugh? I sure did. It was right in front of me and it was hilarious. Stiff armed by a skinny runt QB.

I saw that. I replayed it at least 4 times to make sure it was Kyle. I couldn't believe it! He didn't seem to be too off balance. Sanchez just Bit*h slapped him to the ground! After he "face-planted" the turf, he just kinda got up on his hands and knees slowly like "What just happened. I hope nobody saw that!"

  6. Here's what you should consider. Why stop now? If you've been a fan for as long as you say, then you've suffered with all of us. We all suffer loving this team! But why quit now? You've just spent the last 13 years of your life hoping, wishing and loving something that aggrivates you to no end. I know, we all have. You're not a quitter. You're just frustrated. If you were a quitter, you would have quit in year 4 of this mess. Hang in there. Stick with it. When it turns, and it will, you can say you were there supporting, rooting and never quit on your team. I love when my friends tell me I'm a real fan because I never give up! Even though I feel like it sometimes, there is NO WAY I can. This team is mine, just like it's your's. It has been since youth. You can't give up because you love the Bills. That..... is what it's all about. It's hard, no doubt. But the hard is what makes a Bills fan great!

  7. Thanks Astro. Follow a lot of your posts. The offensive stats scare me. I mean, they don't lie other than garbage time stats. It makes me think that Gailey knows that Fitz is not his QB, as he can't throw deep, and running the ball only brings more "beef-in-the-box" so the only pass offense is what we see. Screens, dumps ect. I wonder if he knows we can't beat them deep so running the ball to bring the Safeties up is moot. In Gailey's mind, spreading the offense keeps the defense honest so we can run the ball. What do you think?

  8. I had some time to kill, so I thought I'd look at how bad this defense really is. Through the first 7 weeks of the regular season, this is where they rank against all 32 teams since the merger: (keep in mind, just through 7 weeks)

    Points allowed: 227

    Rank: 8th worst ever

    Passing yards allowed: 1731

    Rank: 47th worst ever

    Passing TD's allowed: 14

    Rank: 29th worst ever

    Rushing yds allowed: 1238

    Rank: 19th worst ever

    Rushing avg. allowed: 5.95

Rank: WORST EVER! Since 1940 only 3 teams had a worse avg.

    Rushing TD's allowed: 13

    Rank: tied 4th worst ever

    Total yards allowed: 2969

    Rank: 3rd worst ever

**Also, the only team to allow 300 yards passing and 300 yards rushing in the same game: 2012 Buffalo Bills **

I did some on Chan Gailey too since taking over as headcoach for the Bills:

    Overall record: 13-26

Record against teams with winning records: 2-15

Record against teams when the opponent scored first: 6-18

    Record against Conference teams: 5-13

    Record against Division teams: 2-12

    Home record: 8-11

    Road record: 5-15

So, there ya have it. Our Buffalo Bills defense. If you can find more, post it here. I'd love to see it.

  9. I have always dreamed of playing football in the National Football League, and as I approach my 41st birthday in November, I am starting to think my window of opportunity may be slowly closing. However, I believe there still may be time. First, I need to quit drinking and smoking. Then, get in shape. I would like to add about 70lbs. as I think my target weight should be around 240lbs. I figure that would allow me to play anywhere from MLB to WR or maybe SS and possibly reserve OG. I should probably learn how to play football, so I’ve decided to attend college next year. I assume they can teach me what I need to know. I would like to go somewhere close to home as I would love to have my granddaughter come to games and watch me. Washington St. or Rutgers or maybe Notre Dame sounds about right. Possibly Arizona State, not sure. I am thinking that I should declare early for the draft as time might be working against me, not sure. We'll see how it goes up to that point. I used to babysit a kid back in the early 80’s (for some extra cash to go to the arcade) and I heard he is an agent with some agency now, so, if I can pull the right strings, agent problem solved! The only problem I see at this point is I have sort of a low pain threshold. My eyesight isn’t that great, but that shouldn’t be too much of a concern. Never been very fast or a quick learner either, but I will get it sooner-or-later. The constant ringing in my ears should go away once I control my high blood pressure. I like to sleep in on Sundays, so maybe I can work out an “Every-Other-Sunday” clause in my contract. I’d be willing to do that, but I don’t know, we’ll see. Other than that, I think I can make this happen. I’d like to thank everyone that leaves an encouraging message and let this be a lesson to all you kids out there. You can always wait until later to pursue your dreams. They’ll still be there after you pissed half your life away. I promise!
