  1. I don't see why this isn't a good idea. Fred's year in Seattle, he only played in 4 games before a high ankle sprain ended his season. He carried 26 for 100 yds (3.8avg) and caught 32/257 2TD's in essentially 3 games (only 2 catches yds and a TD week 2). That'll work. He's not getting the full load so for what he brings to the table, production, leadership, blitz pick-up, hands and work ethic, the minimum for him would be a steal IMO. It's a net positive.

  2. Wow! What happened to this board? I used to get on here everyday for YEARS (never posted much) and love reading all the different opinions, but what the hell did I just read in this thread? Pages 2 - 3 were unbearable! Who are these people on here now? Damn, I take a little siesta and come back to kindergarten class? Sorry ya'll, but WOW!

In any event, I agree with the OP. I really like what they're doing at OBD. Finally feels like a real path. Something we haven't had since the mid 90's.

  3. The bottom line is this. Who is more productive right now? Glenn in Roman's offense or Mario in Rex's defense? I think this answer is clear. Glenn in Roman's offense. We just saw what each can do in these situations and one did remarkably well and the other failed miserably. If you have to tag Glenn to keep him here, clear the room with Mario and tag him.

  4. What if you had 1 Conference and 4 Divisions. North, South, East and West. Each Division had 8 teams. Regular season would consist of not playing your division, but 2 others. North vs South and East, South vs. North and West, East vs. North and West, West vs. East and South. That's 16 games to determine your position in your division against division foes facing the same teams but not each other. Everyone would have the same bye week, say in the middle of the season. The playoffs would be in a bracket style playoff system. Everyone makes the playoffs. You play within your division. 1's vs. 8's, 2,s vs. 7's and so on. Final 4 (Division champs) would be North vs. South, East vs. West to determine the Super Bowl. The next year, you just mix-up the regular (North vs. East and West.... ect) and playoffs (North vs. West, South vs. East). This way, you play a team 2 years in a row, 1 year off, except in your own division where you may face them every year, or not for years. The Super Bowl will most likely be two teams that have already played that year (sucks) but we have that possibilty now anyway. This schedule would give the NFL 20 more games a year (I think) and a chance for fans to fill out brackets while hoping their team (The Bills) could pull-off the upset of the year!

Don't kill me on this....... just thinking out-loud.

  5. Are you talking about the "last" possession or when the Bills had the ball with 5 min left? The last possession they had to use the hurry-up. They were behind. With 5 minutes left, I totally agree with using the hurry-up. They had a 1 point lead and needed to score. The Pats had 3 time-outs left, plus the 2 minute warning. There was still alot of football left at that point. No need to milk the clock given the situation. If it was 1 minute left and they used the hurry-up, then I'd be questioning them.

  6. As a veteran of the Corp from '91-'99, I'm embarrassed by this Marines actions. First, I noticed the white trousers. Not blue with the blood line, which means special duty, perhaps Silent Drill? (unless recruiting duty now wears white) Being a VT game, I can see this as a "home" game for him if he is assigned to D.C. If he is Silent Drill, I would expect more discipline and bearing from a highly disciplined Marine. Either a SD member or a recruiter or whatever, I think he forgot his place and acted like a fan and not a Marine at the moment. That's okay when in civies, not in uniform.

  7. I just called and got the Ticket for $180.00. Too me, that's a fair deal. The way I see it, I can't go to the games, so paying $11 a game to watch my Bills in my man-cave drinking a few cold ones with chili slow-cooking, knowing that my Buffalo Bills will see some of that $11 gives me comfort of knowing that I am doing my part to support my team. I envy all of you who have season tickets, so if I have to pay a little extra to keep costs down overall, I'm happy to do it! Go Bills!

  8. Personally, I think this says more about Whaley than Byrd. Everyone assumed he'd miss mini-camp anyway. Whaley, however, has his first big decision to make. This should set the tone for how he is going to assemble his teams in the future. Overpay a GREAT player at a position that is not of huge importance, or let a GREAT player walk and try to develop from within. Clearly this is a tough decision but we might get a glimps of how Whaley is going to handle business in the future.

And when I say "not of huge importance" I know the S position is important. I'm just saying it's not QB and it's not LS. It's somewhere in between.

  9. The new staff has come out publicly and said they want Stevie in the slot. His physical skill set is almost hand crafted for this position. He doesn't have the speed or size of a true outside receiver. Purely speculation, but I believe they like him in the slot for his shifty moves but also his ability to get off the ball. Nickel corners and defenders won't play him on the line and this will lighten the load in the box. As much as it makes sense for him as a receiver, it also plays in nicely with the run game, IMO.

So, who then lines-up outside on 3 Wr sets? With 4 receivers in the game, do they use Stevie and Woods inside and Graham and Goodwin outside? That could be lethal with C.J. in the backfield.

  10. How about the battle for the 2nd corner? That's an important position in Pettine's d. My guess is that Leodis wins the job and actually plays better at CB this year.

I agree. Like AlwaysBilleve said, asided from Gilmore, it may all be up in the air. One player I'm going to watch is Brooks. I know he got torched a few times last year, but he could shake things up a bit. Maybe lock down the Nickel? He's a feisty little dude.

  11. I'm stoked to see what's going to happen at WR. Lots of fresh talent there with Woods, Goodwin, Rogers, Graham.

Same here. I have a feeling Woods will lock-down the outside opposite Stevie. The 3rd/4th with Goodwin and Graham will be fun. They seem like clones of each other. Throw in Rogers, and this could be really exciting.

  12. Sorry if this has already been discussed lately (did a search, found nothing) but I was thinking about some position battles in camp that may go over looked due to the QB battle we're all going to be watching. One that intrigues me is the OLB/DE spot and where Jerry Hughes fits into that. With Anderson, Moats and Hughes, this could be a great battle this summer. What are some other battles that we should be keeping our eye on?

  13. This isn't the first thread to suggest this. It makes no sense to me at all - instead of drafting a player to address one of the team's many immediate and pressing needs (QB, WR, LB, CB, etc...) the OP wants to take a shot and marginally upgrade a position and move a guy who's shown he's perfectly capable at the position his plays now.

Glenn is already a better than average tackle. He may turn out to be a great one. But yeah let's move him just because we lost a couple interior guys. Guards can be found anywhere. You can get a servicable one off the street.

Drafting a OT high this year doesn't do this team any good. They don't have the luxury of drafting a "blue chip" OT prospect (who may or may not work out) with all their other needs.

I really hope this dumb idea gets buried soon. Glenn's a good LT and probably a great RT. those are the only two positions he should be playing.

Yeah, if you have a decent team, a playoff team, sure.

Not when you're bad. You don't spend high pick to upgrade when so many other areas are seriously broken.

I don't want to take a shot. I just asked if it would be wise for the Bills to do this. I was just thinking of things the Bills do that totally confuse me and this scenario came to mind. I thought about it for awhile and I can see them do this. How bad would it be really if they did think Johnson could be better than Glenn and Glenn could be better than Andy? Again, if they thought they could upgrade two positions in one pick, would it be worth it at #8?

  14. Cordy Glenn's success at LT in the NFL means more to me than his success at LG in college.

He's our starting LT and will be for a long time. If it's not broke why are people trying to fix it?

I think the whole moving Glenn to guard thing is such a terrible idea.

The problem is, it is broke. When Andy left, the line needs fixed. If you believe Johnson can be a better LT than Glenn and Glenn can be a better LG than Levitre (and I do think this) then you just made two positions on your team better by one pick. That is value! This is how you draft. FROM NOW ON.... THIS IS HOW YOU DRAFT! (Will Smith, Bad Boys)

Will they be better? Who knows. However, the possibility exists.

  15. Just wondering what you guys think if Lane Johnson, OT, Oklahoma fell to #8, would it be wise for the Bills to grab him and move Cordy Glenn to LG where he had success in college. That would be a solid line with Johnson (LOT), Glenn (LG), Wood C, Urbik (RG), Pears/Harriston (ROT).

This would allow the Bills to select a QB in round 2. Maybe Nassib, Manuel, Glennon or Wilson.

    What do you think?

*sorry if this is already posted. I did a search and didn't find anything*
