Because I like being difficult ?
I'm assuming they are moving up to draft a QB.. I don't think there is a plan B after they moved up to 12. Just a matter of who they want and how much farther up they need to go to get him.

So who’s the best dt we can draft at 12?
goosebumps. So excited.
The thread title was the Back Up plan.. I said I don't have a clue what a back up plan would be followed by a factual statement. Why you asking me what the back up plan is when I already said I don't know?

No clue.. but if 3 or 4 QB's are taken in the top 11 picks there will be some mighty fine football players available at 12.

Could be like the 2014 draft where the only 2 QB's that ended up being worth a damn came later..Carr at 36 and Garopopolo at 62.. and we will see about McCarron who was taken at 160 something. The 4 or 5 taken higher were complete or partial failures.

I'm guessing this is obviously the make or break draft. We get to find out if Beane knows what an NFL QB looks like. If he gets a big enough name they will probably get 2 more years for things to work themselves out. If it ends up as another JP or EJ with a 1st round pick then they got problems.

Allen or bust

He reminds me of Kyle Orton.
I'd be happier than hell with a Kyle Orton type year right about now.

And hope he doesn't have a career arch like Tim Couch.

Matt Stafford and Brissett are the only 2 QB's who got sacked more than Tyrod..how good was he making the line look?

I'd imagine he can at least match the 156 passing yards a game we have become used to. Was going to say sack #'s will probably skyrocket. Didn't realize Tyrod was sacked 46 times last year. So I hope skyrocketing isn't possible or it's going to be brutal. Tyrod's sack #'s went up every year he was here...wonder why that was?

For me:
Allen at 12 and it's %$(! you doin?
Allen at 22 and it's meh..whatever.

Need a list of can't miss prospects that a team moved up to draft in the top 5 that ended up busting. Taking one at 12 isn't the same as giving away the farm to take "the guy".
-
Going to save my sanity and start over hyping one of the QB's not named Darnold, Rosen, Mayfield or Allen.
-
So I guess the only thing I think Beane is being 100% truthful about is he doesn't know if they are moving up yet. Maybe they have guy worth moving up to 3 and a guy at 7 and another if still there at 12. Then who knows what. How many more days?
-
I'm starting to wonder if they actually only like Rosen and are waiting to see if he makes it to pick 3 before moving up. And if he doesn't we may end up with a Rudolph, Faulk or Lauletta.

I fear he will have a Jeff George type career.

You see clueless, I see fans who literally will determine how much they like a player based, in part, on how much the team paid for him.
There is only one thing that will determine if McCarron was a good hire: if he plays well. To suggest that "Well, he didn't play well, but hey, he only cost $15M, so I'm good with this" is ridiculous because the team needs someone under center to play well more than they need to save a few million on a contract.
I suppose we could just offer everyone $100,000,000 and be done with it. We are talking about potential ROI.. not an after the fact evaluation. It's a perfectly normal conversation in polite circles. At least it seems like it to me.

Why do you guys keep bringing up price as one reason to be cool with a football player, as if you're the one's cutting the checks?
I mean, I understand it if your neighbor bought a car and you think "That's a nice car, but I wouldn't pay $xxxxx for it." Because, y'know, you're gonna buy a car of your own one day.
But pretty much no one here is going to drop $20M on a quarterback, and to somehow think you'll be okay with the pick as long as the team didn't overpay makes absolutely, positively no sense at all.
It's just the weirdest thing to discuss.
Limited resources.. money to spend other places? If your neighbor needed a new roof but spent $40,000 on a 1971 Pinto you would probably discuss with anyone who would listen.

I was confused when I was looking at their 2020 mock draft. How much time those guys got on their hands?

Friggen Jets might have over paid but they really screwed this whole thing up. I was starting to feel bad for them because they have been nearly as incompetent as the Bills. Now I hate them again.
