I don't know what the right answer is. Be much easier to take if we were already in the top 10. What confuses me is people saying we can fill spots with later picks after trading up. That idea seems dubious to me. Your giving up those picks moving up aren't you? Especially if trying to get up to #2.

That's not how this works. That's not how any of this works.

I keep thinking about the 2012 draft. After the obvious #1 pick and where all the QB's went that we would give a kings ransom ( in Foles case a 1st rounder maybe)for today. Has the QB evaluation process improved that much since then? I can see it in my mind..3 years from now everyone saying Beane really dropped the ball on this draft giving up so much to pick _______? When he could have waited and picked _______?
-
I'm guessing they wait to see what happens with the Denver pick. If a guy they want is still there they will move up to whatever spot it takes to get him.

All the "upgrades" in the world won't win a championship or even a perennial contender without a good QB. The NFL isn't for feint hearted, penny pinching small timers. Go big or go home. Better to take a shot and miss then to never have the guts to go for it. But, if 6-10-ish seasons float your boat, then by all means, hang on to that 3rd round pick like it is the secret to immortality.
If only we could have gone 6-10 last year.

I don't want to trade up because then the rest of the draft will be boring. I'm also semi famous for being a moron.

So I went to watch some Flutie highlights and came away thinking about how much I miss Van Miller.

I wonder where Mccarron would go if we plunked him in this draft.. still fall to the 5th round or further down..would he go higher?

As you alluded, Mel is pretty much never correct, so I wouldn't worry too much about that.
It is possible that 4 QB's go in the first 5 picks though, in which case I think we stay put and take a dominant LB at 12, then 22 leaves plenty of options (including QB, dependent on how high they are on Jackson or Rudolph).
There's also the option of waiting until next year, and maybe even dealing 22 for a first next year, if you're really not sold on the guys left. I definitely don't want them just reaching on a guy to appease the fan base. The key isn't getting A guy, it's getting THE guy.
Thank You!!! Seems like every Tom, Doug Marrone and Harry want to move up just for the sake of moving up.

White threw 100 more passes than Darnold and Rosen and still had a better completion percentage. I'm on board

I just found out, not long ago, that some people use ranch dressing with chicken wings. Good god man!

Aren't we all from the BBMB? What in the hell is going on here?

Do they hate Darnold or just assuming he is going #1?

It is amazing to me how BLIND some of you want to be to what is happening here. The COLTS took the Jets offer, not because Buffalo could pay MORE but because the Colts only had to move to 6. There are some players way up there that INDY really likes that won't be there at 12. The Colts get the extra picks in a deep draft, and still get at top 3 NON QB. They didn't WANT the Bills package! .....and the other thing that is funny is that everyone just assumes that the 2nd pick can be had if the Bills just meet the asking price.....there is no asking price to be met.....the Jets certainly called about it. If the Giants were in this for a top 3 NON QB, they would have traded out already....They are taking the QB. ....can't stress this enough....hardest thing to find is a high end, franchise type QB. Your odds of getting one are much higher at the top end of a draft. If you think you can get one, you get him. The Giants have the 2nd pick in a year where there are some guys who many think could be that kind of guy. If you are the Giants, you do not know where you will draft next year, and surely your scouting department has told you that the 2019 QB crop is garbage...even if ONE guy emerges...will you be in position to get him? The most value the Giants can get from that pick is to use it this year while they are in position to get their next QB. They even have the unusual luxury of drafting so high but still having a vet QB in place so the new guy can sit if they are so inclinded. The Bills will either sit at 12 or trade up to 9 or so for Josh Allen, or gamble on waiting for Mason Rudolph...but that is a huge risk because Arizona, Pittsburg, and the LA Chargers are lurking...the Chargers are especially dangerous to move up on someone.
I think you got it 100% correct here. The only fly in the proverbial ointment might be Barkley. There is always the chance they think Eli can still get it done for 2-3 more years and they want to make a run. Getting a stud RB would change the dynamics of that offense on day 1.

I will say whoever they think is THE QB, heck yeah! Get the QB then build. You do NOT win the grand prize without the QB.
Hey, if AJ turns into Garrappolo, you trade him for a kings fortune. Billy B gave him away to screw Kraft, I think.
If AJ turns into Garoppolo why trade him?

I was with you up until Allen. Were you one of those guys that fell for Nassib after all of the message board hype?
I’d have to agree. I really don’t think Giants even want to trade. Especially not to 12.
The Bills will have to hope for some slippage and another partner I think.
I was thinking QB's going 1-2-3 was not realistic when I first heard it. After thinking about it Darnold, Rosen and Mayfield kinda doesn't seem that far fetched.
Just now, What a Tuel said:I know that was Hyperbole but Eli is 37. Rivers and Roethlisberger are 36. I think they may start considering replacements but they didn't fall off of a cliff, and are suddenly worthless. They each may have a few more years left in them. Brady isn't super human. It is the nature of the game that has changed how long they can play.
I'm hoping you are right and they aren't really thinking about it. I really do.
-
Problem is going to be would the Giants? They have a 53 year old QB that hasn't played that well in awhile. Maybe they are thinking the same thing? Eli to Rosen for the next decade might be too good to pass at any price.

Broncos are going to be the first shock of the draft and leave Mayfield there for a defensive player. We swoop in and take him with the next pick. Mark it down.
