Point out where it says in this article that the Bills are in cap hell.  Or mention anything close to it.

I'm trying to point out that you are using bad info. 1. Buddy Nix was not GM in 2009, Brandon was. Nix was promoted at the end of the season but wasn't signing players and being GM until 2010. 2. Bills did not have 98 million cap space, they had ~100 spent. 3. 2010 was the uncapped year. I don't know what they had over or under because there wasn't a cap. If I had to guess I'd say Nix had about the same amount of cap space as Beane. 4. Beane created some of his cap problems by releasing and or trading players. He did not inherit the worst cap in Bills history like you boys claim.

    5. Saying Beane was in cap hell is a lie.

It's your argument, you aren't just the "messenger."

Sounds like excuses literally lets you ignore all context and argument and be critical of whatever shortcoming their may be. It is literally refusing to make a real argument.

Actually it wasn't my argument. It was my defense of his argument. Also context depends on the viewpoint. I see show me the baby, not it could have been or we did this or understand we couldn't. It is or it ain't. So far in free agency it ain't. Now that's my argument.

They weren't over the cap - they also weren't going to make any noise and had no QB.

What Bills team in the last 20 years had a QB? What GM came in with a winning QB? These are excuses. Can Beane get it done? So far in free agency I'd say he hasn't.

Well since you said every GM, I thought you meant every GM.

Well since we are just staying with the Bills...in 2009 when Buddy Nix took over the Bills we had $98 million in cap space.

    I don't think that's right.

Murphy got less than $8M guaranteed at signing.  He's tied for 44th in terms of AAV for EDGE defenders.

If that is one of the worst contracts in the NFL, then every GM is an absolute financial wizard in every sense of the term.

He's a bum. He should be paid 65th. LMAO. Even I laughed at this reply. But so what. He's a bum. He's a backup.

If we don't see him coming back for next year - his contract is easy to get out of next year.  This is good news for guys like dimarco, croom, sweeney, and fisher.  With Smith and knox likely already penciled in on the roster pending trades/cuts.

If knox/smith show up and are solid - he can be cut next year very easily.  If not, we have him as an option next year to compete.

Do we know the timeline on the injury?

Well, we put ourselves there by eating a ton of dead cap the last 2 years.  But most GM's who came in were unwilling to do that so they'd just compound the issue by pushing deals out.  A rebuild starts with a tear down usually.

"Donahoe inherited a team $5M over the salary cap and major changes were needed." Beane's team was not over the Cap.

...probably missed it, but wasn't he out last year with a broken foot?...if so, same one?..............

    Yes and yes.

We haven't been in cap hell for the last 20 years.  Not even close to it.

    All of them huh?

John Dorsey took over the Browns in December of 2017 and for the 2018 offseason....drum roll please....$110 million in cap space.

    https://www.dawgsbynature.com/2018/2/24/17049398/cleveland-browns-set-to-have-about-110-64-million-in-cap-space

There are several more GM's that didn't inherit cap hell.

The first year Beane took over, we had $50 million in dead cap.  Now that we had cap space this year, we signed over a dozen free agents.

    Dorsey took over the Bills?

"Excuses" is usually code for "I am unhappy but too lazy to think"

And name calling is usually code for "I don't have a real argument so I'll damn the messenger."

We were in cap hell last year, we didn’t have the luxury to get a lot of free agents.

This season hasn’t started yet and you can already tell us our free agents are poor?

Sounds like excuses to me. We were in cap hell for the last 20 yrs. Every GM who took over had some kind of cap hell. All of them.

Your medical opinion is his foot wasn't fully healed because he broke it again.  So it seems you believe that if you re-break a bone, that means it wasn't healed.

Julian Edelman, Sammy Watkins, Kevin Durant, Julio Jones all had multiple foot injuries on the same foot.....those doctors suck huh?

What is he right about?  That the foot wasn't healed?

He's right about Beane signing poor free agents. He's right about Kroft being injured. He right about Kroft being reinjured.

No.  He's a solid run-stuffer.  A valuable contributor but not the stud we Jets fans had hoped.  But maybe playing with Quinnen will free him up a bit.

I think he could be more than that. He should be used like Trevor Pryce or Calais Campbell or Michael Bennett. He's not a traditional inside player. He should be playing base end and 3tech on passing downs.

  10. In this defense it's better he play 3tech. People don't understand the LDE is not supposed to get sacks. He's supposed to protect the Weak backer from traffic and set the edge in the run game. If that player get 5-9 sacks it's a bonus. You want the pressure to come up the middle and from RDE, not off LDE.

I’ll probably get flamed for this but clowney to me anyways isn’t that big of an upgrade over Lawson.

He’s obviously more elite in the run stopping category but 100 million more elite?

He can rush the passer to a certain extent but with Watt and Mercilus he wasn’t exactly lighting up the sack category. Houston has used him all over the formation from outside linebacker to both end spots and even as a DT in their 4-3 or nickel sets and his impact just doesn’t equal the money for me. My opinion is that they can get the same impact/stats from the Lawson Murphy combo. There was a time when you couldn’t simply acquire elite talent via trades without giving up a kings ransom, now we’re seeing elite level players being moved for pennies. I would hate to give away a high pick for a player who has not been able to takeover games on a very talented defense.

His best season was the one where Watt was hurt. Also in their defense he won't ever get a lot of sacks.

  12. Toughest team to judge. Given Beane's record with FA it's tough to say the OL will be better. There will be tape on the QB. It could be a stagnate season or they could blossom. Have to at least see game one for a true understanding of who they are. Probably out to game 3 really. I trust McDermott is the only reason I think they'll be better than 7 wins. How much better, who knows?
