Why don't we just teach Duke how to play TE.

    Cut Smith

So instead of keeping an TE who has played in the league for years, you want to to take a WR in his late 20s who has done nothing in the league and turn him into a developmental TE?

If they just cut Spencer Long....he will be out of work for about a day

Cutting Long would be crazy. If you can get a draft pick for Russell Bodine, who was realistically at best the 30th best starting Center. Then Long, who shown moments of being semi capable would definitely get one. Or Wyatt Teller, who had basically done nothing and got a draft pick in return.

Long will easily get you a 6th. Possibly higher to a desperate team

Also I will out on a limb and say all of them will make the team.

So who is getting cut instead? You're going to have to cut some notable players, the roster is too deep

Another year like 2019 and he'll make a strong case for a big payday.

    And he won't get it.

His injury record speaks for itself and unlike McCaffrey he doesn't double up as receiver, so doesn't have that inherent value if he drops off as an RB, and his value is spread across 2 spots because he has a wider role.

The last half decade is littered with RBs not justifying big pay days. If he wants to play that game, he'll go the same way as another talented but injury prone RB, Devonta Freeman.

I have a hard time seeing how Hauschka can be better than Bass. Obviously Hauschka has the experience edge but it’s not like he is very accurate and has no distance left at all. I just think it would be a big mistake to stick with Hauschka, it’s a huge disadvantage when we can’t even attempt field goals over 50 yards.

His accuracy is very good under 50. Plus his low trajectory of kicks is better for Buffalo than Bass who hits them very high exposing them to more wind

Alright clever fellow -- the initial post is recognized by those who are enjoying it to be a frivolous display. No one really needs to be told that there's a difference between a real game and this kind of ad hoc practice. The umbrage of those who feel the need the explain to all those engaged in "undilutated irrational praise" that nothing really demonstrative is happening here is more akin to Puritan sanctimony before folks trying to enjoy a little festivity on a nice summer day, especially given the fact that most of us are cooped up for extended periods in our houses. So, it's harmless vicarious happiness. But do carry on, it's enchanting.

I'm sure you posted something very interesting, but I couldn't be bothered to read it. Your absurd over reaction to the initial post meant your follow up was hardly going to be a must read.

Don’t know if this video has been posted yet, but the chemistry between JA and his receivers is looking good.

Based on that video, no it doesn't. You repeatedly see the receiver dramatically slowing to be able to catch it. Just because it's caught, doesn't mean it looks good. That looks like what you'd expect with Allen and Davies, very raw early in the off season and timing is way off.

If you watch it you’ll see working class people who literally live and die for their team. The team gives this once thriving industrial city it’s entire identity. They lose game after game in heartbreaking fashion and their dedicated fans keep coming back every week. It’s extremely relevant!

I could give you 30 teams that fit into description.

Thanks for your in depth commentary. How exactly?

Any UK football fan knows what I mean.

I know this isn’t specifically Bills related...but sort of. Those of you with Netflix will enjoy the two season series Sunderland Till I Die, which follows the Sunderland ‘soccer’ club in northeast England through their woes of relegation from the top league. The city is an industrial working class town, just like Buffalo. Their fans could be Bills fans but for the British accents. I highly recommend it. Extremely well filmed! It gives a starving sports fan a great inside look at EVERYTHING that goes into running a major sports franchise. Give it a try.

No. That's just wrong on so many levels.

Flacco is a significant upgrade on Barkley. Even the Flacco we saw in Denver.

No he isn't. His lack of mobility behind that line is a recipe for disaster.

Was that a Friday news dump by the Jets? Flacco should retire.

I agree. They should have just kept Trevor Siemian.

I'd take Flacco over Barkley too.

I wouldn't. The guy has terrible for a number of years, he's coming off back surgery and has a history of back issues and then goes behind one of the worst O lines in football. It makes little sense. They should have gone for some mobile enough to handle that line, not a statue in the pocket. He is an awful fit

Mike Mccagnan was the GM for most of their horrible drafting/FA signings. Douglas has a 6 year contract. He is going to be there for a while. I think the Jets biggest problem on offense is the lack of playmakers. They have Bell but outside of that who are you worried about? That rookie WR they drafted? I think Douglas will be their version of Beane but one year isn't enough time to make a judgement on him.

Douglas was responsible this time round though. His free agency was a disaster.

And playmakers are no use if the QB has the D line instantly in his face. They should just paid the money and got a half decent line, not paying over the odds for swing tackles from Seattle

  12. 17 minutes ago, Greg S said:

LOL. I say this as a Jets season ticket holder. GM Joe Douglas had a good draft and I do think he will eventually build up their roster like Beane did. But it will take more than one year to fix that team. With Gase as the HC they won't win. Every Jets fan I know doesn't like him as their HC. I do think Darnold is better than Allen but the Bills are the better team all around. If they can't beat the Jets then this Bills team isn't nearly as good as we thought. I think the Jets are a 6-8 win team. Their D is respectable but the Bills should sweep them this year.

A half decent draft didn't make up for a shocking free agency. That O line is still bottom 5 in the league, which is impressively bad given both the Bills and Jets started rebuilding their O lines in the same off season with basically the same amount of cap space

Because in the rugby codes, the position which generally fields deep, high kicks in a similar fashion to an NFL punt returner is the fullback.

Wade, if I recall correctly, was a centre and/or winger. Wingers can and do return kicks - but nowhere near as much as fullbacks. Centres do not return kicks.

    Absolutely correct.

Whilst you get some versatility in rugby union positions with some players more than you do in the NFL. They are still relatively unique skill sets and exactly as you say, a full back is the one position comparable to kick returner. Needing to return long distance kicks.Wade as a wing may occasionally have got some, but not many and it's not what he was known for for. He was a line breaking runner.

The one guy back in the day who could have made a great NFL returner is Jason Robinson, he was dual code so used to changing rules.

The blocking component is the big difference because blocking in rugby is illegal.

But broken-field kick returns against staggered, rushing defences are part and parcel of the game.

IMHO, his ONLY realistic shot at an NFL roster is as a KR/PR. Running back is too complex for a rugby player. Heck, he would be better off as a WR than a RB.

Let's be honest, his only realistic role in the NFL is as an ambassador. He could be useful marketing for the Bills in the UK.
