Looks like they won’t draft IOL early in the draft. I would love for them to get a legit power guard, something like Ford was supposed to be.
Disagree. Douglas is a cheap vet backup, far from certain to even make the 53. Remember they need a 90 man off season roster. Can't see how signing has any draft effect at all. Just as signing a few bottom of roster LBs earlier in the week didn't either

OT is debatable. Hart is terrible and a massive downgrade

$40 million a year 5 years that’s my guess.
40.5 just so it'd be seen as more than Dak.

Seems like an insurance option in case a better option doesn't emerge in camp. Still think a draft pick is the likely returner especially given if they find a guy who serves as the field stretcher WR

The Panther thing is....concerning. But I have 100% faith in Beane.
Why is it concerning?
He wasn't even in Carolina the same time as McDermott and Beane

Good - hopefully this kills the Harris to Buffalo thoughts in the draft.
It won't. It'll wind the Round 1 RB up and they'll be even more vocal

But they aren’t afraid to kick the can down the road, whilst paying a QB..so they don’t think it was a bad idea and shows that it can be doneAnd if you look a number of Bills contracts that's already the case But because the Chiefs have the QB cost already in and the Bills don't, 5he Bills need to factor it in. The Bills need a big chunk of cap in the next few years. Players like Star and Hughes contracts ending will help but they still need space

KC is paying their QB $45m nowYes, and not loads of other positions to nearly the same degree as the Bills.

Well this sets the WR group for the season.
Maybe a 6-7 round BPA at WR and some camp bodies.
Not necessarily, a WR at any round is still in play given Beasley's and Sanders age. Kadarius Toney would be a great option at 30 and locks in your WR group as a top 3 group for 2 to 3 years

They created more space by restructuring Mahomes
And the Bills have to be mindful not to push too much cost into the future as they have a 40m QB to pay plus Edmunds.

The Chiefs don’t care paying $80m for a guardAnd? They had the space to, just as the Bills did. They chose a FA, the Bills chose 3 key starters.

Lawson and Ngakoue are the only pass rushers I wanted
Do people still rate Ngakoue? I thought everyone had noticed how bad he was against the run and how you have to build around him to stop your team getting run all over. He was such a terrible fit for the Bills

Look at the Chiefs roster and salary structures.
And? The Chiefs have massive roster holes held together by Mahomes.

Kick it down the roadA really bad idea when you have a 40m a year QB about to be paid.

Yes, he is taking an RB spot
No he isn't. You don't have a fixed number of roster spots per position. So he could be a WR, LB or CB and it wouldn't make any difference. They arent planning for him for his position on offense or defense. He is serving as a special teamer. He should be alongside Bass, Ferguson and Haack as a specialist. He is unlike say Hyde, who does special teams as a compliment to his role on defense

What does this guy have on Beane?
He is a core special teamers. McDermott has always had a number of specific special teamers.
12 hours ago, Mark Vader said:Goodbye Christian Wade?
Wade isn't a special teamer.
10 hours ago, Miyagi-Do Karate said:Don’t like this at all. I was hoping we would get a guy like James white or Rex Burkhead for that “other” RB spot.
He isn't an RB. He is a special teamer. The RB designation is simply because they still don't recognise special teamer as a position
21 minutes ago, Locomark said:Yawn. A waste of a RB spot.
He isn't taking an RB spot. It's a special teamer spot, which could be filled with any type of position.

I'm looking for 50 receptions for 650 yards and 5 TD's.
He's going to be a guy to move the sticks and get open in the Red Zone. I like it, and want to add a burner in the draft.
He lives in the 12 to 15 yard range. Which will take the pressure off Beasley. At times I think it became a bit all or nothing last season , but Sanders will help be another pressure relief valve. Until they find their TE, they need players like Sanders

So far, we have basically the same DL, with Jefferson/Murphy swapped out for Star (maybe).
In reality.... Star improves 2 positions as Butler can go back to 3T, he was playing out of position last year. Epenesa and Oliver both improved massively through the season.
So we are far better off already, plus there is the rest of FA and the draft.

But why the $140million part? Where does that number come from? Its a notional number in the extension. Basically he's still on a 1 year deal, but the Saints would have a dead cap hit for another 4 if he leaves.
6 hours ago, Buffalo_Stampede said:It just seems like it should be illegal right? Why not just add voidable years to every contract? Maybe limit voidable years to 2 years or something.
Because you hurt your future cap position if you do. You are spreading the cost not avoiding it.

Can someone explain how these voidable contracts work and why they do them?
Its spreading his signing bonus from. 1 year to 5 years.

Its a cap space saving exercise. It frees up 7m+ this season.

Really? How many TDs a year do offensive lineman score?
Quite a few in reality given their effect on the running game.
The Bills don't need new RBs, they need the O line to be half as good in run blocking as it pass protection
1 hour ago, Buffalo03 said:Our line is fine. It was all last season. We have 3 of those guys returning. It's one of the least of our concerns
Its very good in pass protection, it was terrible in run blocking.

I don't think he is going to coat that much because of his injury history. Again, I think $7 million a season is reasonable. Considering someone like Aaron Jones is slated to get like $12 million a year or higher
The Bills don't have 7m to spend on a RB

Assuming Brown is cut there is at least 1 spot open at WR, possibly more if Mackenzie stays but I think that is more likely than Brown. Potentially Roberts spot is free. He needs to compete and show something different, but Daboll goes WR heavy often enough to need options. I think his route to the roster is a lot harder if they invest in a top TE in free agency.

Let Williams walk for massive money, re-sign Feliciano and tender Boettger. Draft a new RT.
Feliciano is too valuable to let go, he covers 3 spots at a good starting level.
3 minutes ago, BuffaloRebound said:This is why I think you tag him. Over-paying him for 1 year not end of world. Playing Ford at RT may be.
They finally saw sense on Ford and put him at Guard. Leave him there, draft someone like Eichenberg, its a good deep OT draft
Any thoughts on WR Dyami Brown, UNC?

He's becoming a very trendy draft twitter player this season which makes judging his real draft price hard. He's gone from late R3 to early R2 in a matter of weeks
