  1. ......sounds like offer is on the table and pending still.......

Earlier today (3/15/17), ESPN’s Mike Rodak reported that the Buffalo Bills continued to address their lackluster receiver depth by signing a three-year, $4.5 million contract with former Oakland Raiders receiver Andre Holmes.

Almost immediately afterward, that was refuted by both the player and the team. However, the original report cited NFLPA contract filings, which are generally only made public once a deal is finalized.

    So what happened?

According to NFL.com's Mike Garafolo, official contract offers are also sent to the NFLPA, although they generally aren't publicized. In this case, it seems someone in the NFLPA office mistook the team's contract offer for a finalized contract and sent out the details with the rest of the contracts that were actually signed today.

  2. ....still might not be a bad idea to ask Wood to structure the $7.85 million he is due...........convert $6 mil to signing bonus and set salary at $925K for next two years.....free up $3.925 mil more in cap space....I think if you cut him after June 1, 2018 (Groy takes over?), the remaining $3.925 is spread over two years as dead cap....

  3. There seems to be a common perception here that a player's agent can't disclose the terms of an offer from the Bills to other teams. Apart from everyone's off-the-cuff based-on-no-facts opinion, does anyone have a link to some sort of code of conduct that governs what NFLPA agents can disclose about the contents of a team's offer to a free agent player they represent?

In most fields of endeavor, if someone is your "agent," that agent has an obligation to get the best possible result for you, the principal party that he represents. That means it would be misconduct for the agent to FAIL to disclose the terms of Team A's offer if doing so would help the player get a better offer from Team "B." Playing one party's bid off against another to get a better deal for their principal is probably the main thing agents get paid for in most business contexts. Be it real estate sales, talent contracts for movies, whatever.

It's certainly possible that there could be some negotiated aspect of the NFL labor agreement that puts unusual rules in place that are specific to NFLPA-registered agents, but I would find that surprising. In part because if rules restricting disclosure do exist, they would be pretty tough to enforce.

So again, anybody got a link?

Or are y'all just clueless about how business works?

Bills, WR Andre Holmes say no deal yet despite NFLPA records

A three-year, $4.5 million contract between wide receiver Andre Holmes and the Buffalo Bills was filed Wednesday with the NFL Players Association, documents obtained by ESPN showed.

Despite the deal appearing along with other completed contracts in NFLPA records, a Bills spokesperson said Wednesday there has been no deal signed between the two sides. Holmes also tweeted Wednesday afternoon that he had not signed with any team.

An NFLPA spokesperson did not immediately respond to a request for comment from ESPN.

  4. ...hell at least OBD is FINALLY paying attention to the TE spot....#2 IMO right behind #1 QB spot as THE most neglected.....shades of Stone Hands Royal and his two left feet.....TE spot has been a nightmare on BOTH sides of the ball.....sucks when the opposition consistently views 3rd and 20 as "3rd and short" versus Buffalo and just smokes 'em in the seam for a 1st down time and time again.....

  5. Does there seem to be major steam for the Bills taking Mahomes at 10 or am I reading way too much into it?

Also, who would want Mahomes at 10?

......may of the sites ranking QB draft prospects have him around #5....if so, it seems you could trade down, acquire pick(s) and if you wanted him, he may be there in the 2nd.....can't see 4 QB's going in the 1st........but I don't get to watch college ball and rely on expert analysis here.....

  6. ....anybody have any info on this guy?.....

Free agent G/C Tim Lelito is visiting the Lions on Wednesday.

A 13-game starter at left guard in 2015, Lelito was sent back to the bench last season, making just seven spot starts. He has position versatility, as Lelito played left guard, right tackle, and center last year. In 2015, Lelito was Pro Football Focus' No. 7-ranked run-blocking guard out of 82 qualifiers.

  7. Hunter is a great end zone Target but there's a reason he only had 10 receptions. He's known as a very suspect route runner with inconsistent hands.

....yup....was in TT's "Witness Protection Program"......invisible to him like most of the WR's & TE's....Dennison better fix this ASAP...............

  8.

Bettis was built like a barrel. And also had a half decent line to run behind didn't he? can't remember those steelers lines but I always thought Steelers had decent lines back in the days. Even then he wasn't always effective. Except when he faced the pathetic Jills. Then their O line would blow our D line up and nobody in the secondary can tackle him.

    LOL FEAST MODE!

...doesn't look like his water broke yet.............

  9. Sometimes it might...but with regards to EJ, I think it had very little to do with why he failed....EJ was a long shot to ever be a good QB in the NFL...he was considered a long term project that was only given a shot because of his measureables...nothing else EJ had between the ears said NFL QB...he was basically a hope and a prayer.

.....I think JA that poor coaching ( Hackett was the QB Coach & OC) and ""less than desirable" starting circumstances contributed but were not the deciding factors... signing the 5+ times concussed Kolb as the starter and EJ's mentor ranks in the "top 5 OBD worst ever".....guy's noodle was gone even BEFORE the "Great Mat Attack"....EJ's gray matter was not much better...field awareness and ability to scan in time allotted were woeful....add in zero confidence which tells me he knew he could NEVER adapt to the speed of the game at this level....

  10. ...maybe Wonderlic scores should include universities these kids graduated (COUGH) from and an indexed based tuition refund for lower scores...oh wait...they don't pay ANY.....imagine how many signed their Letter of Intent with an "x", graduated (COUGH) with a diploma they couldn't read, got signed either via the draft or UDFA, and didn't stick with their NFL lifelong dream of "getting out" failed?...sorry for spouting off but these are kids used, abused and discarded......

  11. those who criticize Whaley will not give him any credit for this contract but it's a great job

....as usual, plenty of expert "flies on the wall".....who the hell knows how the original deal went down with Whaley, OVERDORF and TT?......just will have to wait for the "flies" to FACTUALLY explain TT sitting in week 17, abrupt decision for surgery and him giving up 10 mil in restructure...gotta make a popcorn run because this should be good......

  12. Ultimately I think it's just too hard to compare Montana/Brady. Totally different eras, you can make a reasonable case for either one of them.

I never get ceased to be amazed how Brady was just a forgotten 6th round pick though. If he didn't play under Belichick's regime would he have had this success? I mean back in the day the Browns fans all hated Belichick for cutting Kosar since his skills didn't fit his coaching.

    ...LOL....Bernie would drink to that..............
