  1. sick. this lump should not be allowed to make money from football. he needs to bag groceries.

...he pulled off a bigger heist of Pegula than Willie Sutton could have ever dreamed of.......hell, I'd bet he traded that wrapped Ford pickup on a Brinks truck to get outta Buffalo.................

  2. Worked out well for us last time. Oh wait...

...OUCH.....thanks for the reminder....other than Luck, Rodgers or Alex Smith, QB's in the 1st over the last decade would have been lucky to be UDFA's yesteryear......and the pundits are all over the map about the current crop.....Watson probably raised his stock at the combine and pro day, but then the "ball velocity" issue of concern surfaced....Trubinsky gets high marks but then the "started only one year" conundrum comes up...not much of a clear cut consensus.....trading back into 1st probably costs you a 2018 1st when class is allegedly (who really knows??) far superior.....

  3. I think it's definitely a possibility, but the bottom line is they'll set up their board, see who. Gets plucked in the first 9, and at 10 they'll evaluate whether it's WR, CB, S as they are in need in each area, and see who is the best at the position. It would be foolish to force a WR if there is a better CB or S available.

...other than Sammy (when healthy) and perhaps Clay (when healthy), the receiving corp is not made up of marquee names.....at the same time (on paper so far), I'd say depth and size are decent......not sure how much more you can invest in the receiving corp with the passing game being as inconsistent as it was......TT's ability to scan the field in time allotted remains a question mark and don't know if Dennison can "re-train his brain".....I'd bet there were several times guys broke off routes or slowed because the likelihood of seeing the ball was somewhere between slim and none...TBD experts who break down game film are the ones who could say whether true or not....bet is to trade down to grab an extra 2nd, think defense late first and possibly QB in the 2nd.....

  4. You can't count on late round picks, but you'd expect a few to come through. Our track record has not been good the last decade. We certainly could use some help this year! I would love to see Dez Lewis or Listenbee step up. If not, what is Namaan Roosevelt up to?

On a parallel track, do you think Marcus Easley will get picked anywhere? He was one of our top special teams players, a very talented gunner on kick coverages.

...LOL....ironically he had a good year in the CFL...........

  5. That's my point though. The continuity within those organizations. The Steelers have had 3 coaches in their history. Chuck Noll, Bill Cowher, and Mike Tomlin. The Pats went from Parcells, to Pete Carroll(who went on to win a SB with Seattle), to Bill Belichick. The Steelers GM, Kevin Colbert, has been there for 18 years. The Pats had Pioli for 9 years and Bill has always had his hand in personnel decision. Rooney and Kraft have both been committed to winning. It takes all facets working together to build and sustain a winning environment. It also doesn't hurt to have a few HOF QB's that helped to get those rings.

.....and an excellent point...throw in the Packers for good measure.....as you said, it starts with non-meddling supportive ownership (Niners with DeBartolo, Policy & Walsh also comes to mind)......all of the pieces have to mesh.....Pioli moved on to KC and his tenure there was not that successful...Dimitrof moved on to Atlanta and has been successful (Pioli now works for him).....Policy landing in Cleveland was a non-starter...."clicking on ALL cylinders" is the key.....all of these organizations have bonafide football people running football operations....look at OBD's patchwork FO administration through the drought.....NON-football people making a feeble attempt to run football operations....RESULT?.....you know the rest....

  6. He is recovering from hip surgery in December

Had a plate put in to fix old injury

    Should be good for TC

Since Logan Thomas came up... Let me add

As a freshman at VT playing TE

He caught a touchdown pass thrown from yours truly.. Tyrod Taylor

....didn't he originally have sports hernia surgery, landed on PUP, destined to be back sometime around week 7?........hope all of this is behind him...kid has some 4.39 wheels.........

  7. In college I played lacrosse and for the first 3 years we were independent of a division and essentially had to win every game to make a postseason birth. My senior year we were absorbed into a brand new conference with teams who were bottom of the barrel. I was fortunate enough to captain this team to its first championship. Nothing like ending your lax career with a landslide win in the championship game, at your house.

My point being, you are right. That would be the fastest way to get in the dance. No matter how unrealistic that may be.

....my comment was pure sarcasm out of frustration over the last 17 years my friend.....been my club since 1962 and have experienced the highs and lows....."low for 17" is painful.....

  8. While I can see why some are saying that Holmes is a shade above a JAG, the fact remains that he was a WR4 and he's 28 years old. It's hard for me to buy into the idea that he's suddenly gonna jump from a WR4 to a WR2. It certainly could happen, and I hope it does. I'm just not holding my breath. As it stands now, a Watkins/Holmes/Brown/Listenbee top 4 isn't awful, but it certainly isn't nearly as dangerous as the addition of a 1st or 2nd round WR would make it.

...not convinced the ineffective and inconsistent nature of the passing game right now warrants a 1st round pick for a receiver, be it WR or TE.....seems like the majority of FA signings have been on the offensive side of the ball.....draft may shape up to trade down, acquire picks and go DB/QB.....just a thought.................

  9. perhaps. But with game action, and a couple of years in meetings, he SHOULD be able to outperform a (basically) rook? Just a thought...

...hopefully a healthy Listenbee and Dez do show up in 2017......maybe not the marquee names you want, but Colston in the 7th to NO didn't fare too bad....you just never know..........

  10. Now the question is if that leak forced our hand and the additional dough. If that's the case it's BS.

....I think he was still shopping.....played last year in Oakland for $750K guaranteed, but earned the full $2 mil of his deal.......so it appears that Bflo's original 3 yr, $4.5 mil deal (no mention of guaranteed money) was light....so he ends up a shade over $2 mil/yr which is close to what he did earn last year....still a good signing IMO..........

  11. ...had to sweeten the pot, but well worth it IMO..........

Bills signed WR Andre Holmes a three-year, $6.5 million contract.

It's $2 million higher than the deal reported earlier this week. Holmes is coming off consecutive nondescript seasons as Oakland's No. 4 receiver behind Amari Cooper, Michael Crabtree, and Seth Roberts. He lands in a good spot with Buffalo as a veteran flyer. Holmes adds depth in a red-zone/deep threat role.

  12.

It wasnt so much a response but more expanding on what you had said. The only difference between me and you is that I have not decided that we can't have a sustainable playoff team with TT at QB.

This is his 4th OC in 4 years.

He struggled with no Sammy, but with a Healthy Sammy they were pretty good together.

He has less than 2 seasons of starts.

He has been saddled with a poor cast of receivers when Sammy is out or playing hurt.

    He protects the ball.

Coaching was an issue here in his 2 years.

He is a major threat with his legs that opens up things for everyone.

So, while I know full well he has work to do, I also have not closed the door on his ability to improve with just 28 starts, 2 Pro Bowls, is a great teammate, pushes himself, been saddled with a questionable coaching staff in his first 2 years, and been without his most trusted and talented WR for about half his starts at QB.

...he has had about the same "less than desirable start" as EJ did......BOTH faced some pretty significant hurdles.....BOTH seem to struggle with ability to process the field in short time allotted.....TT has confidence whereas EJ had NONE....thus, he's gone.....just hope that TT's confidence is not solely based on his "wheels escapability" which makes him thinks he can abandon his field scan and always make something happen....Dennison needs to fix this ASAP, but it is a "gray matter issue" and I'm not sure if it can be fixed......scanning the field to see/utilize his receivers (WR's AND TE's) with scrambling bieng the exception versus the rule is about the only way this offense will work consistently.....to prolong his career IMO.......
