  1. I think Rex should become a college HC. Young players would love his personality, he will get a lot of high profile recruits just because of his name, and his defense will confuse a lot of younger non NFL QBs. He could become relevant and win some National Titles if he went down to coach college ball.

  2. I don't know why people are saying that these moves are " un-patriots like ".....Every single off season, Belichick picks up a few FAs....the only difference this year is the fact that they had way more $ to spend....

Go look at the last 5-6 years and you'll see that it's just part of what they do every year....

Because very few of their big offseason adds work out. Just look at Chad Ochocinco. He was old but beause he was going to Patriots he was supposed to breakout again. Its the smaller additions that fill a role that works out for Pats. Like Chris Hogan.

Or how about Danny Ameldola... he joined Pats and was supposed to become best slot reciever in the game because he was gonna Tom Brady. Instead it was Edelman who broke out as a late round player.

Point being the big names (aside from Moss) never work out and its always the smaller name players that fill the perfect role that makes the Patriots great

  3. Actually that's not true, at all. No one actually knows which players count and which don't. Look no further than the 2016 comp picks Buffalo recieved. The official NFL comms release says for the purpose of comp picks in 2015 the Bills lost these players:

    Searcy

    Pears

    Spiller

    Lee Smith

    The Bills gained via FA:

    Tyrod Taylor

As I'm sure you know, Taylor wasn't the only FA they signed. They also signed Felton, Harvin, Carrington, Connor and Simms. All UFAs. Technically they signed Incognito as well and he was an UFA too but I'm sure him being out of the NFL can't count as a loss against a team.

And yet, the Bills got 2 comp picks.

Pretty sure is based off money. If the players you lost gets paid more hence Gilmore and Woods then we get more comp picks in return as long as we dont spend on high tier free agents

  4. Whaley also brought Jordan Mills. Not saying he can't play but I would love to hear the reasoning.

When the Bills mentioned Seymour had vision problems it made them look like they found a bargain.

Mills was also a 5th round pick. He didnt have as much talent as the others like Brown and Hughes which were 1st round talents that were considered busts. Smith is a 1st round talent as well... he really isnt thought of as a bust (he has always been a dependable player) he just hasnt played to full potential.

  5. This feels like desperation. Just grabbing guys hoping for a miracle.

It worked with Lorenzo Alexander and Zach Brown last year. And it also worked with Jerry Hughes. Whaley has a way to find talent that others over look or determined were busts. Its probably Doug Whaleys best quality as a GM

You can't teach drive and motivation. I would rather just fill some other holes in the secondary in FA, so we will be able to grab a tackle in the draft.

You would rather sign a DB and draft a tackle than sign a tackle and draft a DB in maybe the best DB class of alltime? Its a great year to have a need in the secondary. We dont need to sign anyone when we could draft one which will give us same skill level at a much cheaper price

  6. They are all very well spoken and seem to be high character guys. We added two former captains so leadership seems to be a quality we are adding. And every single player we added except for Poyer comes from a winning team.

    Panthers

    Seahawks

    Ravens

    Packers

    Falcons

Also besides Tolbert they are all pretty young in the the 25 to 27 range.

Young high character guys off the field, versatile on the field and comes from places where they are used to winning seems to be the type of free agents McDermott likes
