Of course he can.  It would be kind of stupid.  He wants to win, and without his 23 million, his team will have no depth and lousy starters on defense.

he absolutely cannot say no. It’s a mechanism in the contract that converts money, it doesn’t take it away. They do not need Allen’s approval or signature. A restructure is not a new contract.

  2. I think Joe Brady as OC is going to be an interesting one. There are quite a few OC jobs open and you have to figure he is going to be on the list for several of them. Most notably, I think Cincy is the biggest threat to poach him if we decide to take our time on the decision. Brady was the passing game coordinator and wide receivers coach at LSU in 2019 when they won the National Championship with Burrow and Chase. One would assume he has a good relationship with both players and that opening would be appealing.

We are expecting to get another one to three feet of snow in the area tonight

I was thinking about this. We are already a day behind in prep work/rest. It’s going to really suck if because of the weather the team can’t get to the facility tomorrow and get treatment and begin practice for Sunday.

It felt different though. The vibe of this team has changed dramatically. It’s way more tight, serious, flat, and they look like they’re just not having fun anymore.

And there is obviously something wrong with this offense.

It really didn’t though. It was pretty doom and gloom leading up to that Buccaneers loss. We went embarrassing loss to the Jags, killed the jets, got demolished by the colts, killed the saints, wind game, loss to the Bucs. Luckily they figured something out as a team during that bucs comeback attempt and rode it the rest of the year. But prior to that, they looked inconsistent and tight, much like they do now

Good on Beane for making a push but having other forks in the fire as well. Would Jaylon have been awesome? Absolutely! Am I thrilled that we didn't get left at the alter and went ahead and made a play for a pretty good player in Douglas when it became apparent Johnson wasn't happening? You better believe it

Don't like it, especially not for a 3rd round pick.  Is he even going to start over Benford and Jackson?

That 3rd round pick could be way more important to this team as we will have a lot of holes to fill.

He will absolutely start. He is currently the 12-rated CB this season and on a deal that we can easily extend. A pretty damn good commodity versus an unknown 3rd round pick is a good trade-off to me, especially considering we get a 5 back and will likely recoup the 3 as a comp pick from Edmunds

I'd be fine with Suh. Doesn't cost any draft capital.

If the rumors of Suh are legit, then it leads me to believe (hope) that Beane is targeting CB or LB via trade. He is dealing with limited resources so as much as we would all love for him to make big splash trades to fill the holes left by injury, it's just not feasible. My hope is that he has identified his target, and is attempting to plug/patch some of the other holes with cheap vet signings so he can commit what resources he does have to land his preferred target.

As Jauronimo stated , west to east for the early slot is a tough hill to climb. I’m guessing this has been done before , but I can’t say I can recall a recent example. It seems a smart move.

The 49ers have done this in the past. They stay in Youngstown, Ohio where their owner was raised and still has family in the area. They last did it in 2019, coincidentally when Jimmy G was the QB.

My antenna has a slight crack in it and my pirate sources have such a delay, I am considering signing up for NFL+ to watch the game live. Has anyone successfully installed the app on a Roku TV as opposed to mobile only?

YouTube TV offers a free trial. I subscribed on Thursday and have been extremely impressed. You can cancel the free trial right away and still have access for the entire trial period.

  10. I am confused about where the notion that Beane is riding his pick of JA17 and that otherwise he is not a good drafter started. I compiled all of his draft picks between 2018 and 2021 and I see very few flat out misses.

    2018

    Josh Allen

Tremaine Edmunds – 74 career games played (74 started). 2 Pro Bowls. Signed a massive deal with the Bears in FA

Harrison Phillips – 62 career games played, 45 in Buffalo (28 started). Signed with Vikings in FA

Taron Johnson – 71 career games played (50 started). Considered one of the top nickel CB in the game

Siran Neal – 80 career games played (1 started). Special teams ace

Wyatt Teller – 66 career games played, 8 in Buffalo (59 started). 2 Pro Bowls

    Ray-Ray McCloud – 65 career games played, 10 in Buffalo (10 started) – 2020 2nd team all pro KR

Austin Proehl – Cut and never played a down in the league

    2019

Ed Oliver – 62 career games played (53 started). 2019 All Rookie Team. Signed an Extension with the Bills

Cody Ford – 49 career games played, 38 in Buffalo (32 started). Traded to Cardinals, currently with the Bengals.

Devin Singletary – 61 career games played (56 started). Signed with Texans in FA

Dawson Knox – 57 career games played (47 started). 1 Pro Bowl. Signed an extension with the Bills

Vosean Joseph – Never played a snap in the league

Jaquan Johnson – 60 career games played (4 started). Primarily ST. Signed with the Raiders in FA

Darryl Johnson – 38 career games played, 31 in Buffalo (1 started). Traded to panthers, currently with the 49ers

Tommy Sweeney – 24 career games played (4 started). Signed with Giants in FA

    2020

AJ Epenesa – 43 career games played (3 started)

Zack Moss – 39 career games played, 31 in Buffalo (3 started). Traded to the Colts

Gabe Davis – 47 career games played (30 started)

Jake Fromm – 3 career games (2 started) Never played a snap for the Bills, currently with the Commanders

Tyler Bass – 49 career games played. Signed an extension with the Bills

Isaiah Hodgins – 11 career games, 1 with Buffalo (5 started). Released by Bills and signed by the Giants

Dane Jackson – 37 career games played (22 started). Signed a 1 year deal with the Bills

    2021

Greg Rousseau – 30 career games played (30 started)

Boogie Basham – 23 career games played (0 started)

Spencer Brown – 27 career games played (24 started)

Tommy Doyle – 12 career games played (0 Started)

Marquez Stevenson – 5 career games played (0 started). Currently with the Panthers

Damar Hamlin – 29 career games played (13 started)

Rachad Wildgoose – 20 career games played (3 started) Never played with the Bills

Jack Anderson – 14 career games played (3 started) Never played with the Bills

Is he drafting superstars with every pick? Of course not. Does he draft guys that have sustainable careers in the NFL? Yes, with darn near every pick. Out of 31 picks between 2019 and 2021, only 2 are not currently in the league and 14 no longer play for the Bills, but are still in the league.

Do I wish he would have hit on a few more big-time players? Of course, I do. But he has consistently added quality depth through the draft. The notion that he cannot draft or has a terrible draft record outside of JA17 is just flat-out wrong.

No offense but this is a bad graphic and full disclosure I am a big fan of the cover1 guys

categories 1-5 are all basically the same in that we know he gets the ball downfield at a high rate: that means TDs will be high, adot high, ypc high, and explosive play percentage (basically a deep reception) all high. It's not that meaningful. 1st down rate is similarly connected. The issue w Davis is that he doesn't do anything except catch the ball downfield that well, PLUS he's a dropper of catchable passes. That's not really wr2 material imo

no offense taken, I agree it doesn’t tell the whole story on Gabe. However, I also think it shows he hasn’t been this sub par wide receiver that some posters want to make him out to be.

I think Gabe has been a victim of the routes he has been asked to run and has been a victim of the epic Divisional game. People expected him to put up 2 TDs and 100+ every game. Comparing his stats to other WR2 around the league, he is comparable or better than most. I also think we need to define what “WR2” is. Most of what people want is another WR1.

Kincaid’s style makes perfect sense if we are still trying to obtain a WR2. Like brilliant sense. If we don’t draft one or get Hopkins, it’s a bit perplexing.

We have a WR2, whether you want to admit it or not, we do. As you said, the stats speak for themselves.

    Per Cover 1

Now, obviously, this does not include his drop rate, which we can both agree is too high. But let's not sit here and say we do not have a WR2. Gabe is young, has loads of potential, and has put together a solid body of work. Could we improve the position? Certainly. Could we do a helluva lot worse, absolutely! Kincaid is only going to make this team, this offense, and I believe, Gabe Davis better.

The problem is Davis is not good. Teams will just put a good corner on Kincaid because Davis never commands a double team.
You can’t put a good corner on Kincaid if Hopkins is on our team, which is my entire point. Kincaid is a brilliant pick if Beane has something else planned.

For the sake of argument, let's say this is true. How many "good corners" do most teams carry? 1 maybe 2. Cool, let's say 2 just for the argument, one on Diggs with likely bracket coverage, and the other "good corner" on Kincaid. Does that leave a team's 3rd best corner alone on an island against Davis?

I present you, Gabe Davis, against an average corner, with no safety help:
