100%. If you can't get to mahomes, you can't beat Mahomes. Without a significant upgrade on our front 4, I'm writing off the season as a growing/rebuilding year. It doesn't need to be an edge if we can get the production from DT, but we need to get to the QB with 4 rushers.

    Why not just outscore them?

What team has been able to get to Mahomes?

They have used a ridiculous amount of draft capital and cap on the dline since they've been here.....and now it needs to be upgraded?

If they had been that dedicated to building a dominant Oline and getting weapons right from the very start instead of their ceaseless obsession with the dline they would have had better results imo.

Also, if after all that draft and cap spending they're still not good enough that's on them, they are not making the right draft and free agent acquisitions or they are not putting them in an ideal scheme and play call to succeed. Either way, it's time to change their approach.

Apologies if that was poor timing on a tough topic. It wasn’t meant that way.

That's okay Augie. I was basically agreeing with you and just felt a little bit insulted. I wasn't mad about it, I should have put a smiley face next to my wiseass comment.😄

    I get it wiseass

It's what they're known for evidently...

I don't like Calipari, I don't like Kentucky and I root against them when I see them play. I'm glad he evidently sucks at coaching in the tournament and hope it continues...

Other than that I pay them no mind

  4. Colorado Florida in a great game right now, both teams really came to play

If they had a real coach to work with the recruiter who is running that program, they might be dangerous.  Calipari likes to brag about the billions his guys have made in the NBA. So, why can’t he get a single win in the NCAA Tournament with so much NBA talent? He’s a shameless joke of a coach.

I don't follow them at all but I agree that for the amount of talent they get every year they definitely have been underachieving.

  5. Refs bailing out Kansas ....of course.

Incredible, absolutely clean block, no body contact, hand hits all ball with the ref looking right at it. Blows whistle and decides the game.

    Wtf

Why fans can't grasp he and Rapp are the Starters is beyond me. They didn't give Rapp a 3 year deal to have him be a back up.  If so,then why not the Beane special a 1 year deal

Contracts don't decide who starts; and even if they did its still a long way to next season.  A lot can happen between now and then.

It's been over for awhile. KA needs to trade some assets in the offseason for a two way 3C that can win faceoffs, and a top 6 RW with grit. A veteran backup goalie would be nice, too, because Levi needs more seasoning before he can form a tandem with UPL.

I don't think Granato is the answer, but the real problem is Terry Pegula, unfortunately. He needs to step back and let hockey people make decisions.

And not be cheap on the Sabres. If he hadn't marshalled the longest playoff drought ineptitude in NHL history, the coffers wouldn't be so bare.

There's enough talent and prospects to finally be good, if you make the right moves. It would require some risk and creativity. I think they likely run it back and continue to chase Pegula rainbows. Fella thinks he can build an exciting Euro team that is all offense and speed, and win that way. You can't. I'm glad he bought the Bills and Sabres, and kept them in Buffalo, but what he's done to the Sabres is truly dispiriting.

    Well said

They definitely need change on multiple levels.

The last couple teams he’s played on had safety injuries. He’s been a 3rd safety mostly. Chiefs have their starting safeties in Reid and Cook. The Bills offer a better opportunity to start.

Like I said earlier, I sincerely hope he and Rapp aren't the starters. I think they are both backups

If they wind up being the starters........then I'll sincerely hope I'm wrong.😉

Reminds me of what people said when Poyer signed here …

Interesting…The Chiefs paid him $3m last year … did they overpay him?

I don’t think they were complaining when the SB came around…

$3 million on one year deal. Didn't offer him another contract.

Ya, the Chiefs couldn't have done it without him and his 82nd out of 95 safeties ranking.

I'm sure the Chiefs SB odds have taken a hit with his loss

Going through Chiefs twitter and seeing how many are upset to see him leave and come here is all I need. He’s a baller. Takeaway % is high. 4 TDs. Shows up big in the playoffs. 2 rings.  Great signing.

    Go ahead…make my day….

    BOOKMARK THIS BABY.

Chiefs signed him for one year last season and they didn't offer him another contract. I wonder why?

    Original....

I'm not their no. 1 fan but if you're rated as two of the very worst safeties...chances are you're not very good

Also, all 32 NFL teams and a couple hundred colleges pay for their professional services, so I'd say they have some credibility.

I would not touch him at 28, but maybe late 2nd.  Still, where would a 6’2” 175lb WR who is mainly a straight line route runner play?

Mainly a straight line route runner?

That doesn't describe Franklin at all, not even close.

He's a very nuanced route runner with deceptive breaks that keep CBs guessing. Also he is already back to 183 lbs at his pro day. His pro playing weight will be between 185-190 imo.

    This is from NFL DraftBuzz:

'Franklin shows precision in his route running, smoothly transitioning from vertical stems to breaks, which puts constant pressure on defenders.

As a versatile playmaker, he excels both on the outside and in the slot, consistently delivering explosive plays for his team.

In terms of man coverage, Franklin dominates, often forcing opposing defenses to resort to two-high coverages to contain his threat.

Become a fantastic high pointer - displays exceptional body control along the sideline, making challenging catches appear effortless.

Troy Franklin embodies the archetype of a downfield burner in the NFL. His game is centered around elite speed, particularly when he kicks into high gear down the field. Franklin's top-end speed allows him to outrun defenders with ease once he gains a step, making him a legitimate deep threat. What sets him apart is his ability to combine this speed with nuanced route-running. He consistently keeps defensive backs guessing with a variety of releases and creates separation and opportunities for money plays.'

This is not me advocating for him at 28. I'd be happy with one of Thomas, Mitchell, or Franklin

  13.  Total consumption of electricity used for Bitcoin mining world wide doubled between Jan 1st 2023 and December 31st 2023.

The low end estimated total of ~150 TWH is ~equal to the total electricity consumed by the countries of Ireland, Denmark, New Zealand, and Israel combined.

Just think about that, consuming the same amount of electricity as 4 modern countries combined to produce virtual currency that only ever exists virtually.

Meanwhile in the corporeal world the oceans are rising at an ever increasing rate, icebergs, permafrost, polar caps, mountain glaciers melting, unusually powerful and destructive weather becoming more common, species disappearing at increasing rates, drought and famine, etc etc etc

What a time to invent such an energy consuming currency. Perhaps the Billionaires who own large chunks of the energy sector invented it? The fact that no one  knows who created Bitcoin,(except whoever invented Bitcoin of course)

is just inconceivable to me. Over $1.3 trillion dollars invested in a virtual currency that consumes the total electricity of 4 countries combined while the Earth is overheating, and virtually no one knows who is behind it.

I feel like I'm on planet Stupid.

    Are we not men?

    We are Devo

P.S. the electricity consumption is just one element of Bitcoin's impact

  14. My Oregon Ducks made it! Haven't checked their seed yet, thinking a 10....its an 11 seed. Playing South Carolina as a 6 seed. South Carolina deserved to be seeded higher imo, 26-7 2nd in the SEC gets you a 6 seed?  Being 3rd in the Pac 12 and winning the conference tournament gets you an 11th seed? There are definitely a few undeserving teams seeded higher. It's gonna be a really tough first game but I wouldn't want to be Carolina either.

    Go Ducks!

  15. It makes sense to me that Franklin was sick before the combine. I was surprised by his weight, expected at least 185. Was also surprised he wasn't faster than 4.41, which is plenty fast but he looks faster than that on the field.

Living in Eugene, the wife and I have seen practically every game of his career. We met at the U of O when she was a hurdler on the track team and still live in Eugene over half of the year.  He has an incredible instinct for getting open, finding the soft spot in zones, and especially on extended plays. When he has the ball in his hands he has video game speed, leaving fast cbs in the dust. I was disappointed in his combine but if he was sick it might be a blessing. I would be happy if the Bills got him.

Did you ever know a guy named Chris Saunders? He was here within your time frame. Sports writer amongst other things. again RIP to fooking cancer. ANYWAY it can be a very small world. I met Chris through the Very earliest inception of the BBMB. San Diego is a great town we will be here the duration Lord willing.

In San Diego they celebrate this day BIG and if you've ever been a part of it you would never disparage the festivities.  It is also indeed the culture and dancing  and green revelry its just FUN. The fun police can go pound sand 🙂

Gracias everyone. Have a frosty chilled GREEN beverage and have a blessed day. 🍀

    @Turk71

oh and I DIE for the hat. I would buy it if I could. I wonder if it would look good on me. She looks amazing in it

I didn't know Chris but I did celebrate a St Patricks Day in SD '83. I had a great time, big celebration. I remember telling stories to a group of stockbrokers my friend worked with. I had them rolling in laughter. At the end, they offered me free training, a paid exam, and a couple of new suits if I would join their firm. I graciously declined and continued my adventures. My buddy from South Buff  is a Vice President of the company now and lives on Coronado.

I saw that you are in San Diego.

I lived in OB '82 '83. There was a bunch of folk who relocated from South Buffalo out there.  I sang with the David Bradley Band at Jose Murphy's Irish Pub on Garnett in Pacific Beach a few times.  He was inducted into SD Hall of Fame.

More recently (last 25 years) a very good friend, who passed a few years ago, owned the OB Juice Bar on Newport around the corner from Winston's. Wife and I would take the mini motor home on a trip down the west coast from Oregon for a couple weeks every other year or so.

Good times!  I miss my buddy Rick.

I hope you have a great day celebrating St Patricks and sharing stories of your friend.🍀

    P.S. Love the hat
