  1. Concerned about his injuries and immaturity but definitely think he is worth a 5th. His dream has been to qb the Bills and maybe he would put in the work and gain the self control to make it reality. He has a lot of NFL qb qualities on the field and he tore up Bama defense. A lot of people were wild during high school and college, most of us managed to grow up. Hard to gauge where he will be picked though. Anywhere from 4th to 6th I think. No chance he goes undrafted imo

  2. Ok so go watch NE then if you are so fond of BB. Why spend so much time on a Bills board?

I can't stand the Pats or Belichek. They are the most successful team right now and it is not only random luck or they have the greatest 6th round Comp pick of all time. To see that the Bills are mismanaged is not difficult and it doesn't make you a bad fan imo.

  3.

You're acting like I didn't like MG, I did. I was happy with his performance for the most part. I think as fans we get a little too attached to any sort of bright spots on the team. I think Gilli was a great compliment to McCoy, but there is no reason to think he could be the full-time starter after Shady which was basically the contract was signifying with the amount of money in place. Look at his stat line. Most of his damage came in relief of Shady with a limited amount of carries. Another stat to note is the number of times he carried the ball 15 times or more when shady(6 games) was out of the lineup? Twice. Season Finale against the jets in 2015 24 carries for 28 yards and the season finale in 2016 with 15 carries for 40 yards, not so great, his 5.7 YPC average started to dip once he carried the ball more. Even with his biggest Cheerleader/Fan, Rex didn't give him the opportunity to carry the load in Miami with McCoy obviously suffering from a hamstring injury.

The price was just too steep for his value to this team, cannot forget the money invested in the RB/FB position DiMarco, Tolbert, and Williams attached to McCoy's big salary.

Not to mention the 1.3 mil dead cap still for Felton. So with 1.3 for Felton and then DiMarco and Tolbert how much is that for the fb position? Too much to keep the most efficient back in the league. BB says thank you for his new #1.

  4. Why because you want to pay decent money to a BU RB. Those are role players. Good teams fill those positions cheaply.

Well unless your a Bills fan that still thinks you play 1970s football in todays NFL

The best team in the NFL just made him their #1. What else is there to understand. I liked what he brought and obviously he got noticed. Bills could have kept him for less than he will be paid.

  5. Trying to understand how much you put into these stats since you have said the same thing over and over again without really saying what that means when you put him into a full time role.

Time will tell. Not trying to predict the future, just interpreting the past. Fact is, MG has been really good and NE is betting he will continue to be. Not that hard to understand.

  6.

Most efficient backs in the NFL for the past few years (going by YPA):

    Thomas Rawls/Karlos Williams

    Justin Forsett

    Andre Ellington

    Adrian Peterson

I'll give you AP but aside from that it's mostly backups with around 100 attempts. There is no correlation to having the highest YPA. Once you set a minimum of about 200 attempts that's when you see what players are really made of.

Not that this will convince you on your little crusade but I promise having the highest YPA when you're a backup is not a huge deal.[/qu

Not a crusade, I think Mike played a good role on this team was extremely efficient and will not be easily replaced. The fact that he was allowed to strengthen an arch enemy with such a feeble return makes it worse. I think Doug Whaley is an amateur.

  7.

Define "efficient" please? Yards per carry? Yards after contact?

Mike is a simple 1 cut runner and hes going to play the L Blount role for New England. AKA rack up short yardage touchdowns and gain tons of yards on teams they blow out.

MG led the league in multiple categories and efficiency metrics like dvoa etc. He wasn t near the top, he was the top. Obviously BB was impressed.

He played in five games in 2015. Five.

I know that. My point was his ypc and td% was the same.

  8. Again, a team that didn't need him at all. He was cut before coming to BUF? Had you heard of him? Did you think that a converted RB from FLA state would rip off 7 TDs in 7 games? There are guys out there waiting for their shot. The funny thing is, if the Bills had cut McCoy, you'd likely being saying " no big deal , we have MG"... that's a much bigger pair of shoes to fill

I get that. McCoy is a special talent, I think the extension was unnecessary and is the reason they are not keeping MG. MG led the league in multiple measurements and if it was that easy McCoy would have led some of those. Lets not pretend that Gillislies production was just a fluke. He produced at the same pace in 2015. Maybe the system here helped him thrive but the guy has done nothing but produce and the best coach in the game wants him as a #1.

  9. 13 pages of thread for Mike Gillislee....jesus

Solid player who made himself an NFL career. A good backup and a guy any NFL team would like to have on their depth chart. We literally picked him up off the scrap heap and the $ New England gave him is a lot for an RB2.

A 5th round pick will make way less money and offer way more potential to the organization than Mike. Plus, the Lombardi trophy should just be given to the Pats for the 17-18 season. Theyre winning the superbowl with or without gillislee and buffalo ain't going to be stopping it.

Easy decision to make. Calm down everyone.

Yep, way more excited to see what that 5th rnd pick will bring than keeping the most efficient back in the NFL last year. Yep

  10. Saying multiple metrics is the easiest way to show that you don't understand football. He had 100 carries and 1 reception. Nice stat line but a gimmick one too. SM

It's like saying that a pinch hitter with 100 AB who had the highest OPS would do the same thing getting starter ABs.

3rd or 4th down and 5+ yrds to go MG leads the league over last 2 seasons and not even close. Converted 14 of 17 such attempts. Led the league in yrds per carry, td %, 3rd conversion %, etc. Lot of rbs in the league, one guy led those categories. Explain it any way you want but it is the truth.

  11. "Whaley probably sucks and the Bills are historically terrible, but they turned a scrap heap mid-season free agent that again ZERO other teams wanted into a 5th round pick. It makes the Whaley haters look bad to seize on this when there are tons of other legitimate examples of dubious decision making".

So a young talent that led the entire NFL in multiple metrics is exchanged for a late 5th round pick and that is somehow a win? No wonder this franchise has been losers so long. Sign two more fullbacks while you are still paying 1.3 million dead cap to your last one.

  12. Gillislee, 26, was the Bills' No. 2 running back last season behind LeSean McCoy, rushing 101 times for 577 yards and eight touchdowns. Among NFL running backs with a qualifying number of carries, Gillislee led the league in yards per rush (5.71), rushes per touchdown (12.6), first-down rate on rushes (38.6 percent) and third-down conversion rate on rushes (75 percent).

Only one person led the entire league in all those categories. It was just random luck and anybody could have done it. A lot of running backs in the NFL but one guy led the league in all those categories. No big deal, he is a 5th round backup. Dime a dozen. What absolute fools the Patriots are.

  13. Gillislee, 26, was the Bills' No. 2 running back last season behind LeSean McCoy, rushing 101 times for 577 yards and eight touchdowns. Among NFL running backs with a qualifying number of carries, Gillislee led the league in yards per rush (5.71), rushes per touchdown (12.6), first-down rate on rushes (38.6 percent) and third-down conversion rate on rushes (75 percent).

a 5th round pick should replace that pretty easily I would think. smh

  14. Interesting stat, MG converted 3rd/4rth down carries with 5+ yds to go more than any back in the nfl over last two seasons. 14 of 17 such attempts for a ridiculous success rate of over 82%. No one else even close. Not an argument, just a fact to put out there. I think BB probably knows that as well.

pbomb :U do realize mg was a 5th round pick ?

U do realize Tom Brady was a 6th round Comp pick. How is when MG was drafted relevant to his current value to a team?
