    1) we don’t have the cap space for him

    2) he’s overpaid

    3) it makes zero sense to have two $20+MM corners

    4) he’s not worth a 1st round pick

I can agree with #1 and #3 but...the others are highly debatable (and more likely incorrect), yes?

  2. As of today, Barkley strictly because of him knowing the playbook and our offense much better than Blake would. I'd be surprised if the FO would dedicate a roster spot to him as our third QB (or outright replace Matt with him)

Also - please correct me if I'm wrong - but wasn't one of the bigger knocks on Bortles throughout his career his lack of commitment to working hard and lots of partying? On top of his horrid mechanics

Pats tested day of the game, no?  So he tested negative earlier that day..  Hopefully, as Titans/Vikings show, while easily transmissible, COVID may not be the type of virus that transfers easily during a game..  More along the lines of spending prolonged time, in close quarters, with someone.

Gilmore being on the plane is more worrisome to me than him playing in a open air stadium and hugging Mahomes.

It's also wild that these players, from what we know, aren't even sick..  If COVID wasn't a "thing", these players would be playing and nobody would even bat an eyelash.

Yeah, the Vikings results (thus far) have been a pleasant surprise. But in regards to Gilmore testing negative, he was until he currently isn't - because the virus can have an incubation period of more than a few days. If he got it post game or off the field, that's one thing; but if it was merely delayed in relation to Cam... 😕

Valid point about the airplane and other close contact being more or a concern - I was referring to the pic with Pat as a worst case scenario (and the one that'll draw the most headlines for obvious reasons).

  4. I've read a lot of posts requesting to just push the Titans game to Monday or Tuesday this week and to further delay the Chiefs game but...as KC/NE showed us, a(n attempt at a) quick fix does nothing!

If Gilmore had contracted covid from Cam before the game on Monday, who knows of the snowball effect that would result. That picture with Mahomes is pretty damning, and if the face of the NFL gets it, that's probably (and unfortunately) the swift kick in the rear the league will need to take things more seriously and completely re-assess things.

TN being possibly subject to forfeit is fair, if the league can find blatant violations of protocols, but if they don't...that's honestly bs just for the sake of trudging along with the schedule as is (until more problems arise).

I've gotten so exhausted with the discussions, politics, and overall ignorance that masses have shown to this situation. It sucks. I'm all for putting the season on pause for a couple weeks, but what exactly will prevent this from happening all over again in the future?

  5. I'm definitely buying one jersey. If we have sustained success and multiple playoff runs, I'll get a second color. If he's responsible for us raising a Lombardi, damn right I'm getting a third!

Plays like the hurdle, having the balls to stiff arm Aaron Donald (seriously - would any other QB draw a penalty like this today?), and the sneak vs Dallas show why it's so easy for us to gush over him. I'm so thrilled we have one of the most exciting players in the league to watch on a weekly basis.

  6. Speaking of Elway I'm as relieved as I am confused why they had no intentions of drafting Josh (or any QB that draft) just because they had brought in Case Keenum..? Josh obviously fit his prototype for size, arm strength, etc. as well as being a local kid. Then again, Elway has swung and missed on nearly all of his QB evaluations aside from Peyton falling right into his lap.

The throw that absolutely epitomizes his growth is the long throw down the right sideline to Diggs. Last video of the bunch  His pre-snap read is Man with a Safety over top. He snaps the ball, looks immediately to the left like he going through a couple of reads, snaps back to the right, and fires a ball out for Diggs as soon as the Safety slides towards the middle of the field. He is not only reading the defense, but he is manipulating defenders with his eyes now.

Another thing worth mentioning is that there was pressure coming at him right at his legs and he was able to get that deep ball off while lifting his plant foot off the ground - avoiding what could have *possibly* been a nasty injury. That is ridiculously impressive arm strength!

Thank you for the link, OP! I love soaking up as much as I can when it comes to all-22 breakdowns. I will gladly label this as a "we really needed this other Josh Allen thread" thread 😊

Is he? I am sorry I don't see emerging star when I watch Denzel Ward. I see a guy who is a solid corner but who isn't a playmaker back there. Don't think at this stage he is close to proven as worthy of the #4 pick especially when Nelson and Chubb went right after him.

A close friend of mine is a Browns fan and speaks glowingly of him - and as for a tangible response of sorts, I'm fairly certain his allowed completion percentage is among the lowest in the league. I can't say much else for certain since I don't watch their games regularly play by play, but at the very worst, he's a quality player - and I can agree he's not as good as some of the later guys that you had mentioned

Let’s not forget them choosing Denzel Ward instead of Chubb made us not pay extra to trade up with Denver. So they helped us by taking the wrong QB and helped us by reaching for a CB. That reach made Denver stay at 5 and select Chubb, thus allowing the Bills to move up without using multiple firsts.

It's definitely beneficial for us, but Ward is an emerging star and they definitely 'hit' on the pick

With them already having a stud DE in Myles Garrett, they'd either have to let Chubb walk or invest a little too much money for one position group

How would you rank those? When you say 2A do you mean top of the 2nd round? Thanks

Spot on - my preferred format is 0.5PPR so that's the only reason I'm slightly lower on the animal that is Derrick Henry (on top of the heavy load that he's been getting)

Always glad to offer to opinions/insight to one of this board's most respected members - feel free to message me any other time for assorted questions! Would also love to see this board more active, but I'm sure it'll pick up steam throughout the season

  11. Jacobs apparently played through a separated shoulder - on top of the few games he missed. Despite that, he's gained a reputation for being a tackle breaker, should have a bigger role in the pass game, and the raiders OL is a rather strong and complete unit so I'd be content with him as a late first rounder.

Personally, with how deep WR looks to be this year, I'm likely taking RB-RB as someone also drafting late first (and assuming Mike, Davante, Tyreek, Julio are in the mix to be taken). I personally see these guys as matchup-proof weekly starters

1A - CMC, Saquon, Alvin, Zeke, Dalvin, CEH

1B - Chubb, Jacobs, Mixon, Sanders

    2A - Henry, Jones, Ekeler

  12. Rex's first year for me; I was initially nervous to see how his system would work with us, but they continued to assure that they weren't going to put square pegs in round holes despite doing exactly just that for his two years here.

The offseason was full of all sorts of flashy moves to improve our offense - Shady for free, Charles Clay who admittedly looked great when healthy with Miami, Percy Harvin, and Tyrod. Roman, and then especially Lynn, made the offense pull its weight with how dominant we were as a rushing team and relative ease of putting up points. Tyrod's agent's comments that were stressing that the defense and discipline were holding this team back from contention were spot on.

The over-confidence, self-destruction of what Schwartz did for us, nepotism hire, and exodus of players for various reasons were all rough times. After the colorblinding loss on TNF to the jets, I was at a low point because I didn't see us having any sort of short or long term trajectory for success.

Fortunately, Terry did end up striking gold with McDermott's hire, though the handling of the draft leading up to Whaley getting fired made me just as uncomfortable. Luckily, it has all worked out for us rather quickly since our roster and front office is as good as it's ever been in many years
