  1. Tomorrow will tell all with this club. If we get our asses handed to us, do you think we can possibly go 4-1? If the answer is no like I think it is, what is the point of winning another game? You say "building a winning culture and how you build a championship team? We will disagree here until the end of time. Do you know what 12/3/03 was? It was the day the Bills lost drafting Big Ben due to a pointless win against the Jets to bring us a 6-10 record. Instead of drafting at pick #8 we landed 13th and Pitts had 11th due to tie breaker crap. I'm pretty sure everyone here knows the Bills tried desperately to jump ahead of Pitts and simply could not. Instead we took Lee Evans with that 13th pick and traded back into the first for friggin Losman. So yeah, that extra win against the Jets sure built a "winning culture" back in 2003 and beyond.
  2. Don't misquote me as I said if we do not go 4-2 with the remaining 6 games there is zero reason to win another game as it's hurts the Bills further. With the way we are playing now I see maybe 2 more wins this year. What will those 2 wins do for us other than hurt the us like 7-9 records have done in the past? Sure you can pull in 2 of the greatest QB's of all time on winning Super bowls as it only strengthens my point that you needs to have a franchise QB to win one. In order to get there or win one we have to draft one very early. a 7-9 record lands you JP Losman over Eli, Ben or Rivers. Your idea of 7-9 or 8-8 is flawed and history has proven it for almost 20 years now.
  3. This thread is interesting. It does show how important a good O-line is with a shiny new QB though and is the #1 priority IMO to establish after your guy at QB is drafted or established. David Carr is an interesting one as he still holds the NFL record for most sacks in a season with 76 and also 3rd all time with 68 in another season. Poor bastard was sacked about 250 times with Houston over 4.5 years which is insane. His career pretty much ended there. If he had a solid O-line from his 2nd year on would he still be playing or busted at the position? As a team you need to give your QB support (on the O-line and a decent running game) when developing or you can and will break them.
  4. Where the Sabres come from? Apples and Oranges there with a BS lottery draft system. The list was to show the obvious of getting a QB and then building around him. Would Bill Polian of been as successful if GM McGroder did not draft Kelly in 1983 or Bledsoe drafting Bruce and Reed in 1985? I for one doubt it. The list is to prove you draft your franchise QB and build around him, not the other way around.
  5. I guess the whole not starting him this year is puzzling to me them. I'm not sure why they are waiting to see what he can possibly become?
  6. Is that really a bad decision though if it locks up a 15 year starter as a franchise QB? You can build around him for 5years and go on deep consistent playoff runs after.
  7. They do have a ton of Cap room like jrober pointed out. I could see it as a possibility still not knowing what Jimmy is 100%. I really think our trade partners are either the Colts or Bears sitting at 3-7 with current QB's on their rosters already.
  8. On the Whole topic of the 49ers being the top trade target. Is this reality though? What if they decide to take one of these top QB's and have them compete or sit behind Garappolo a couple years? I know many here think 2 QB's in one draft if silly but it is a plausible still if the 9'ers value the position. If they did they would most definitely have their long term QB locked up between the 2 as none of us 100% know what Jimmy will be still.
  9. Not sure what Allen could become though. Could he be EJ or Big Ben 2.0? I'm thinking more like Ben but I understand your thought as well Happy.
  10. Agree with your list Rush and have Jackson and Mason after Allen. Our FO should scout all these hardcore and pop a list of 2 of them and make it happen. Enough is enough man
  11. I'm right with you 1000%, This is why you don't toss GM's and HC's every 2 years unless your name is Rex Ryan.
  12. This is funny Scott! Your realize every starter on Wash O-line and top RB's have been out most the year and he is still 2nd in the league for passing? To all their own.
  13. I do and also remember the woody Whaley had for Watson. Imagine whomever else we drafted with Watson at QB and our previous roster intact? Think about it... Would we be better off today? Would we have made the playoffs? Either way we have McD and Beane now and need to work with that for awhile now. I'm not sure I'll be excited until I see what happens in the draft and FA. I will hope like a kid on Xmas eve though we get what we want. I can only support it at this point like you man.
  14. Dumping your coach and GM every 2-3 years only sets us up back further and further. How about we try to build a real team over a 4-5 year window and then evaluate? Here is what failure looks like: Wade Phillips 98-2000 (Should prob still be our HC today?) Williams 01-03 Mularkey 04-05 Jauron 06-09 Gailey 10-12 Marrone 13-14 Ryan 15-16 McD 17-present (A whole 10 games ) Honestly, Jauron was the only coach that had a fair chance but was over taken with horrible GM's in Levy and Russ Brandon.
