* DOJ will immediately surge law enforcement to Chicago, sounds like all the alphabet agencies.
* Federal crime charges to the greatest extent possible.
* Will take time, it will not happen overnight.
* Operation Legend (Chicago will be part of that, which was started in KC)
* More than $61M in grants available to cities to hire more new police offices.
(Just like always, everything is paraphrased)-

Umm, newsflash, EVERY consulate is a massive spy center. (Glad it was closed down due to ours not being reopened, but just sayin'.)
With that in mind, can you imagine what must have been flowing through that joint?

Trump announcing more feds to go to the cities...
* Surge of federal law enforcement to these areas.
* Just started this process, "and frankly, we have no choice."
Naming NYC, Philadelphia, and going on about Chicago (and the stats from Chicago are horrifying).

I tried to find an article that wasn't a pro-China lede. It was not easy. Our "press" is revolting.
U.S. closes Chinese consulate in Houston; Beijing threatens retaliation
The Chinese government on Wednesday threatened retaliatory "countermeasures" after U.S. officials abruptly ordered the closure of Beijing's consulate in Houston.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said the Trump administration ordered the closure in an "unprecedented escalation," and promised to "react with firm countermeasures" if the move is not rescinded.
</snip>
State Department spokeswoman Morgan Ortagus, traveling with Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in Denmark, said the closure was ordered "to protect American intellectual property and Americans' private information."
"The United States will not tolerate [China's] violations of our sovereignty and intimidation of our people, just as we have not tolerated the [its] unfair trade practices, theft of American jobs, and other egregious behavior," she said. "President Trump insists on fairness and reciprocity in U.S.-China relations."

Plans to remove BLM mural in Redwood City draw ire
Local resident Daniel Pease led the effort to paint Black Lives Matter in large yellow letters on Broadway after receiving approval to do so by the city. On Facebook Wednesday, Pease said he was disappointed when the city informed him the mural would be removed this weekend due to traffic and vehicle code reasons. He also posted about a local attorney’s proposal to City Council to paint MAGA 2020 on the street, saying the attorney’s note played a role in the city’s decision to remove the BLM mural. He charged the city with caving to legal pressure.
Maria Rutenberg, the local attorney requesting that a MAGA 2020 mural be installed near the BLM mural, denied threatening legal action against the city in a post on the Redwood City Residents Say: “What?” Facebook group on Friday. Rutenberg said she also did not request the removal of the BLM mural. She said she “saw that Courthouse Square was being used as a public forum, and, as a Redwood City resident, wanted to participate.”"
“There is a long and involved process by which the city council can erect monuments, which allows the members of our community to collectively decide on ways to declare our shared values,” Rutenberg said, adding later, “The Redwood City council and its members have unconstitutionally chosen to become arbiters of private expression.”

You don't want her alive to take down everyone?
I have read that take... sorta like hoping she stays alive and spills all. I thought it was a misstep myself. Seemed like he was giving a political answer. It could be a case of "I hope she doesn't get Epsteined before she tells all" though. ?♂️

He ends with this: (second tweet, these people need to stop doing odd number twitter streams)
This response is saying China is going with tit-for-tat. I guess we see later this week:

Our house in Sarasota had a walk-in wine closet. My wife is hard to shop for, so on any special occasion I’d get her a bottle of Silver Oak Cabernet reminding her of a great trip to wine country years ago (roughly $100/bottle, for those unfamiliar). If she wants it, she already bought it most likely, making holidays tough, so it’s something.
So........one evening I’m watching the nightly news. There is a report that most wines are consumed within a few days of purchase and don’t save as they used to. We have a closet full of Silver Oak, and I get nervous. We open a bottle, and sure enough it had gone bad! I’m pissed! We declare open season on the Silver Oak, opening bottles every night. The only bad bottle was the first bottle, but it was a glorious run after that!
As for my accomplishments during Covid quarantine.........I’ve been off the couch several time since March. Does that count?
I kid! Since the weather turned warm I’ve been focused on being more active. I (or my iPhone) count steps since my sister’s quadruple bypass and she was told a minimum of 10k steps daily. I walk and throw in some jogging at a nice park by us. I’m almost 14k steps for today so far. Sometimes I’ll join the gang and add some tennis. I feel better for the activity and wish summer could be forever, just like @plenzmd1.
Mmmmmm Silver Oak Cabernet. ? You just reminded me I have it bookmarked to order some ...
Sounds like you had a great time going through those “bad” bottles!

Masks?
eh
I think they are more helpful than not but their effectiveness is overstated.
I wear them out of respect for other people that I'm going to be in contact with.
Disposable masks, bandannas, face coverings, scarves are pretty darned useless. The N95 Masks sound like they have value. I wear a mask to go into a grocery store due to mandates. I have considered going the HIPAA route, but hubby gives me the stink eye, and so it is worth the peace at home to wear a mask in the store.I gotta buy me a “Trump 2020” mask to do my part in making the mandate go away faster.

Thought Trump handled himself well today..measured, did not get in pissing matches with the reporters, sounded calm and informed...
Yup. Except for that Maxwell response, I thought he did very well. Gave a lot of information. It helped that the press was fairly well behaved.

WTF..this is a Covid press conference..not Maxwell...ughh ohh, Trump wishing her well. That's gunna be in an ad tonight
That was an unforced error. I have a feeling he was not sure who they were talking about, and he went for the "political response" of "wish her well."-

And not it devolves based on a question, not Trumps fault.
wisj he would have addressed the "it will get worse before it gets better" on this question
That was never clarified... did he mean more cases? Or more deaths? I am guessing cases, but as you said, not completely addressed.

Press: If China got the vaccine first, would you work with them?
Trump: Yes. We will work with anyone.
We are already in testing.
