I still think it’s an overreaction. But sadly, the way it looks now, virtually everything is shutting down. I won’t be surprised if we soon end up like Italy. It’s baffling to me, because everything I’m seeing says that MOST people, even if they catch the virus, will come through it just fine. Yes, I know that people 60+ with existing health conditions are in the greatest danger, but THEY should know that, and they should be taking the most caution re where they go and who they interact with.

The silver lining is that gas is dirt cheap, and you’ll soon be able to get a load of blue chip stocks at bargain basement prices. My Ameritrade account is warmed up and standing by!

    you aren’t necessarily wrong...

But this is how it is going to go for awhile

Bit of a catch-22 though, no? On the one hand if measures like this help dramatically flatten the curve or outright cut off further spread, then the knee-jerk reaction may be, there was too much crying wolf—conversely, spread continues unabated, it will have been not enough, too late, etc.

How’s the saying go? 0-0 going into the 2nd half! Nobody can take what might have been, away now

I go with realizing that you have to live and make decisions in real time, and hope those making them are prudent and updated and free of contaminating bias.

and about a tenth up to half the population, depends on the topic, are total jagoffs who will complain about EVeRYTHiNG during and after the fact, they do nothing for anyone ever

and we know who they are on this board, especially at PPP...

every year at the Royal Winter Fair in Toronto, a farming and agricultural thing, we were bused to around 1971-75, this was our exposure and only chance to purchase the comic book and Crumb posters and Tip-n-Strip pens

I know, right?  Kinda makes you think its all bullsh!t....

Shutting down the NBA was prudent and justified but they've gone too far suspending the NHL.  At least the Sabres won't miss the playoffs again.  The drought is over!!!!

Too early to determine if this is overreaction

i hope we can look back on it and say it was overreaction

well, of all years to be in a down year, this was it. There probably won't be an NCAA tournament.

Also, if we had to go out, smoking UNC by 30 is about as good as it gets.

has a non-stellar Syracuse team beaten the Tarheels like that before?

It is a VERY BAD LOOK for the pros to be suspending play, but the NCAA will allow the amateurs to play in a big money making event. Heck, their SCHOOLS are mostly shut down, but they still allow the games to go on. The NCAA needs to do the right thing here. Shut it down until we know more.

I never understood the mania over it, filling out a bracket, and bothering strangers with it, without knowing a single player or the nicknames of 10 teams is a pathology

Most games I attended in the first weekend were 1/3 full

The season has totally sucked, barely any players or teams worth watching if one isn’t a loyal fan of a school...

Local governments began sealing off villages and mandating 14-day quarantines for anyone who travels.  Strict curfews, shutting down factories, etc.

A police state, really.  It sucks, but it's necessary.  I'm sure you can imagine how that would play in good ol 'Murica, but we're slowly getting there.  Short-term sacrifice...

When did they know and when did they start these measures?

Your worship could get a little tarnished

No they didn't have to have to be. Look at Columbus, they are in a playoff spot with far less talent then any of those teams.

what’s that got to do with the Sabres in a division with Boston and Tampa and the talented but lazy Leafs? They never had a chance

and besides, Tortorella gets all he can squeeze out of his lineup, great coach who doesn’t run a fat cat Country Club
