I am cause I'm excited for it.  Access to the majority of sports in one for one cost.  The price doesn't bother me as I don't pay for any other subscriptions. We just use the free ones.

i'm into the streaming as well.  i'm someone who still has cable, a few free and a few paid streaming.  i have to clean it up because i have a strong feeling i'm paying far more than i need to.

Wells Fargo analyst Steven Cahall projected, based on various assumptions, that the service could break even if around six million subscribers paid $40 a month. Other media insiders and analysts said the cost would likely have to be in the $50 range or higher.

I can't see it being any cheaper than that unless they add in an ad tier.

you are very passionate about this.

I did the travel ball and I got burned out but it was something I thought I was supposed to do.

My son loves football which I am actually happy about.  He's trying basketball and soccer...I'm not sure how the AAU summer leagues are.  I never played in them.

I do know I averaged 85 baseball games in 2 months of summer baseball growing up.  That's crazy.

I thought the aau basket ball was somewhat intense in terms of competitiveness, but I don’t know how busy the schedule is.  85 baseball games in 2 months is insane.  I’ve been to everyone of my kids events, but I just couldn’t do that.

just have them try everything.  my son is starting the school of rock this week where they introduce them to a few instruments and see what they like.   as long as he doesn’t choose something like the harp, I’m in.

There was so much pressure to specialize it was uncomfortable, and irrational. If you don’t play baseball 12 months a year you will fall behind the other kids, they tell you. What a load of BS. The best athletes are the best athletes and they can play basketball, and football, and soccer (which is great for improving your feet for any sport) and then come back around for baseball if they feel like it. They will make room for you if you can help them win.

I loved those years and missed them when they were gone, but there was a truck load of crap you had to put up with. Probably the best times were when the kids were all in the hotel pool, we’d order stacks of pizzas and the dads would drink beer and watch sports in the hotel bar. That’s where I saw the Brady Tuck Rule game. I don’t know who won the games that weekend, but that was a good time. Recognize it’s kids playing a game and chill.

it's still that way now.  for most of the bigger schools in our area, if you're not on a full year travel team, you're not going to make the varsity high school team.  we had a dad in our office last spring, and when i asked him what was new, he led with his son making the varsity baseball team.  he looked me right in the eye, with no real excitement and said, "you have no idea what a big deal it is."   completely burned out.

i do know what you mean about the camaraderie.  the hockey parents do seem to have a great time even though they're gone almost every weekend.  my kids are 8 and 5, so we are at the low pressure phase of introducing them to sports. i really don't care what they do, but they have to be involved in something...sports, drama, art, music, anything.  they just can't sit on their asses and not evolve in some way.

Girls gymnastics is just as foul.

My stepson does parkour and ninja. The gymnastics classes are across the building. The kids just get berated while their moms just play on their phones. After practice you'll hear the mother ask why her did not perform well in practice or couldn't succeed in preparation.

Mom is almost always 40+ lbs overweight and a freaking mess.

It's f'n practice. That's where you are supposed to take chances and find your failures.

i think gymnastics may be the girl version.  my daughter did it for a few years when she was younger, just mostly for fun. there's a point where you have to get serious or get out.  we're talking a practice or two a week to 4-5 days a week, travel tournaments, never ending seasons, etc.  unless my kids shows some wild talent, this just isn't going to happen.  even cheerleading has become a full time gig.    i'm about 99.9999999% sure my kids will never go on to play division 1 anything, so we see sports as character builders and getting some exercise.  it's much more enjoyable.

  6. i don't like to make generalizations, but i think the hard core wrestling dads are the worst.  i know too many who are living through their kids.  Constantly in tournaments, worry about ranking of kids 8 and under, fighting/arguing with other parents, etc.  the worst is making kids that young suck weight.  i can name a few people that don't allow their kids to eat just to keep in class.  that's ***** gross.  one dad makes his kid practice everyday after school, and will make him run laps if the practice isn't on point.  the kid is 6 and his dad never wrestled a day in his life.

  7. i had no idea they actually monitored this until recently, but it makes sense.  my friend has a ram trx, and his plate is BASMF with a number, (maybe BAMF with a number).  he didn't know if it would go through, and that's when i learned this was a thing.

    For what it's worth.

There is mounting evidence that  the acl issue might be connected to early neutering, ie less than a year, and puppy    diets that promote unusually fast growth.

My son's dog, a beautiful 65 lb white swiss shepherd, had the same thing happen. Two acl's seven months apart.

We just picked up a new puppy for us, a Golden/Swiss Pyrenees mix. He's 11 seeks old now, and we aren not having him neutered until he is slightly over a year old. Had a lengthy conversation about this with our vet and the guy who did the two acl surgeries.

wow.  this is a really great heads up.  i'll likely get another large dog at some point, and this is something i'll bring up to the vet.

Involuntary commitment depends on the state. Ordinarily very difficult to obtain, as Bill mentioned above. In NYS, for instance, involuntary commitments are governed by the mental hygiene law and for a police officer to initiate an involuntary commitment the standard is "appears to be mentally ill and is conducting himself or herself in a manner which is likely to result in serious harm to the person or others."

If I had to guess based on similar things I've seen in my work history your friend's brother is suffering from some kind of psychosis. Most folks in that situation never hurt themselves or anyone else but tend to have a hard time supporting themselves as they continue to decompensate.

i'm willing to be this makes up a sizable portion of the homeless community.

You guys have convinced me to upgrade sizes.

as my best friend explained to me long ago, you always spend a little more on things like tools and appliances.  you'll be more disappointed that you didn't rather than disappointed that you did.

No NFL team is perfect when you pull back the curtain.

Jets know they need to win this year though with Rogers back and I expect them to truly go 'all in' for a championship run which also complicates things for the Bills and makes their path to the division and playoffs that more difficult.

we sure know it's not going to be miami getting in the way...amiright?

My Dad has similar issues as my friends brother due to an assault when he was younger causing brain damage. Any time we would try to get him help he’d act normal for the time he was at the facility. When he’d get out it was right back to the delusions. He lost it on me one day when I helped him pay a bill a few years ago saying the president tried to kill me at the blvd mall when I was a baby and he’s the only one able to protect me. He disappeared after that. He will comment on quora from time to time. Only way I know he’s still alive.

ehhh.  stories like this are really sad.

Unfortunately at this point, it's looking more and more likely that Allen won't have a real chance to compete for a superbowl until sometime after he turns 30 based on the assumption that we are still at least a few years away from McDivisional being replaced. (Allen will be 28 when the new season kicks off later this year).

The problem with this is though is I still maintain he's not likely going to be a guy that plays well into their mid to late 30's and beyond based on his style of play. And I know people hate the comparison, but still see so many parallels to Cam Newton (who actually got to one superbowl before he was 30) in term of Allen's body eventually breaking down and not even being able to evolve into a pocket passer type only.

    this ***** guy!

My next project is rebuilding my front porch.  Will the 10 inch blade be able to cut a 4x4 easy?

I got a new kitten named DaQuan.  He's cool.

My older dog partially tore he ACL so the vet told me I need to keep strengthening her legs to prevent this happening again.  She's a thick pit.

Its the same ramp at the dog park she loves.  She will run up and down it all day.

the acl issue is such a pain for larger dogs.  my dog never has really had any medical issues except for the acl.  he tore on back leg 4-5 years ago.  at that time they said they seem me back in a couple of years for the other leg.  sure enough, two years later while my dog was running towards me when i got home, i watched him tear the other.  the surgeries went well and healed perfectly, but i think i was 9-10k deep after that.  my wife was pissy about it, and i let he know that i'd pay for the surgery for that dog before i paid for hers.

I am lucky enough to not be too familiar with the specifics. But it was the only thing I could think of to point the family to. Maybe they'll find another option when looking into it.

i'm there with ya.  i would have no idea how to manage a family member with possible delusions.

I think the family needs to start looking into the process of Involuntary Commitment. The specifics can change state to state I believe. Google the 5150 and 5250 codes too.

At this point, its a waste of time trying to determine whether it is drugs or mental health. It doesnt really matter while he is still out on his own. The priority should be getting him into ANY type of assistance facility, and let them figure it out from there. Regardless of the cause, he needs help.

doesn't involuntary commitment only come when someone is a potential harm to themselves/others?  i'm not sure if here's there yet, but this is the first time i was made aware of any of this.

I need a new saw so I'm getting a Dewalt 10 inch miter saw.

I'm building a play ramp for my dogs and my Skil saw isn't doing the job.  It's a cheaper one and I don't have a steady enough hand to cut it straight...I need better equipment.

there's a lot of dog chatter from you today.  did you get new dogs?
