I have to agree. Beane was desperate to improve the pass rush. So he drafted two kids praying that one of them would pan out. Luckily Groot seems to be the real deal. In any other year Boogie would be crucified on here for his utter lack of production. Again, maybe luckily, the other veteran DEs have stepped it up in 2021.

Agreed. He is still a rookie, so let's cut him some slack. Only way to get better is to keep playing and working to improve. But, drafting him was probably still a good move as we needed more pass rushers. Hard to get everything you want in the first two rounds of the draft!

Its also game 1, of a 17 game season. I recall NE also having numerous shaky starts to various seasons as September was used as an extended preseason and everyone would be saying the sky is falling, Brady is washed up, NE looks like trash bla bla bla and then boom, they're hoisting the Lombardi in Feb...again.

I'ma chill, get my eats and drinks sorted for Sunday and hope the Bills squish the fish.

Yep, just like in 2003 when we destroyed them on opening day!! And they go on to win the SB that year. And we won 6 whole games.

Yep, opening season games are a great prognosticator of what's to come! 🤪

In 2001 we had a different QB, different offensive players, different coach, different OC, different GM, different Owner.  There is no relevance.

We could have run a simple QB sneak just like Bart Starr did behind the block of RG Jerry Kramer. That worked in the  famous Ice Bowl versus Dallas. That play is just as relevant.

Well, no s**t, Sherlock!! But, the PLAY was the same, just not executed as well. That's the point.

And, yeah, we could have (should have) did a QB sneak with our 6'5" QB, but that wasn't the OP point for posting.

  4. I went through the whole thread and didn't see these two listed:

    1. Pick 6 by JJ Watt on EJ Manual. Absolutely hated that.

    2. Stupid "Hail Murray" against the Cards last year! Crushing defeat after we HAD that game won.

But, besides "Wide Right" and "Music City", the most cruel play that I distinctly remember watching is still the Leodis McKelvin play. Seriously pissed off for a long time after that because, like the Cards game mentioned above, we HAD those bastards and should have beat them that night! Absolutely hated that play and was glad I found McKelvin's address that night and used the last of my spray paint!

  5. Wasn't aware of him before the draft, but I really haven't paid much attention this year. That being said, I like the pick. Watching his highlight reel, I noticed that he tends to watch where the ball is at all times and sheds the block to go after the ball. That was the thing that I noticed the most: getting off his blocks and attacking the person with the ball.

I like his size, too. A couple of sacks he got was because he stretched that big frame out to reach for the QB. Either reaching in from the edge or as he's falling down getting blocked and reaches out to trip-up the QB. I think he might do good against a running QB.

The biggest plus to it going somewhere else is that there won't be any cute little quizzes to see if you "qualify" to buy the product

I never had to take a survey to see if I was "eligible" for Amazon Prime or Netflix.

Got money? Then you're Amazon's "type." You're every streaming service's "type." Direct TV has to check and see if they want your money, and often they don't. That's because their business model is dumb.

Just being able to pay money and get the product without a giant headache would be huge for out of market fans.

In the past, I would have been all over this, but Red Zone has really made the ticket irrelevant, unless you are an out of town fan wanting to see your team's entire game.

Dang, you are so right! I finally decided I "needed" LG's OLED TV for the living room. Waited for a good sale and bought one. I then proceeded to call DirecTv and ask about getting the 4K boxes for my new TV. I was quoted $799!! I'm like, "For What?!?!?!?". The "privilege" of paying them more money for 4K? So stupid....

Like many have said, if it weren't for the Ticket, I'd not have cable anymore. Most of what we watch is either on Netflix or Amazon Prime. I've got all the HBO's, Showtime's, etc and I rarely watch anything. It's all either stuff I've seen and won't waste time watching a second time or original programming that just plain sucks. HBO peaked with The Soprano's; they haven't done jack since. AMC with Breaking Bad, Walking Dead, Better Call Saul has bested them. Netflix is in an entirely different universe. And, as was mentioned, all the major networks are putting their content into their own steaming services. So, the days of "cable" are numbered for sure.

    Good stuff, Yolo.

All I can do is thank the lord that Antonio Brown wanted no part of Buffalo...so, Beane was forced to keep looking. He found a really rare diamond in Stefon Diggs.

So far best receiver in Buffalo history in terms of leading the league in receptions, yards. 127 receptions for 1535 yards. Wowzah!

On another note, the leap he took in 2020 were the 126 targets from Josh.

DeAndre Hopkins had 160 targets and did far less.

I had totally forgotten about that, but, yeah, what great fortunate that decision brought us!
