Too bad we don't have any leverage to trade him anymore.
-
I wonder if Broncos fans are rationalizing their crappy draft this hard.
-
Does anyone really...and I mean honestly here, see the Bills dropping 50 million in guaranteed money on a #1 pick? I think no and will happily trade back if they can.
I believe Mark Ingram Jr. is coming out next year, so they'll pick him up, we need another RB.
-
The huge difference is those players were receivers. Receiver is the most dependant position in football. You need an oline to give the QB time and then the QB has to give it there. IMO, Evans is stud receiver but suffers because of our oline and QB play.
With Spiller, it is a lot easier to get him the ball. You can hand to him, throw it to him, or have him return kicks. He's a weapon and it's easy to find ways to use him.
So if we draft OL to "give the QB time" it would help Evans, right? And our new draft pick from UConn? And we'd still have Fred Jackson and Marshawn to run the ball right? And we wouldn't have to have them split carries with another RB.
-
Did you watch the highlight video? He threw for a TD so who knows? Hell, we could just have CJ and Fred running around tossing the ball to each other. And who needs an OL when you run like that?
I've read so many rationalizing posts today that I can't tell if this is serious or not.
-
OK, I just watched the Spiller highlight video on YouTube and I've totally changed my mind. Holy cr@p. Is there anything this kid can't do?
Play quarterback or offensive line.
-
Buzzwords aside, the Buffalo Bills aren't in a situation to pick "best athlete" or "homerun hitter". See: Detroit Lions, 2003, 2004, 2005. Or: Matt Millen.
-
However, the question you should be asking is whether this rebuilding project has better architects than the past three or if its just more of the same. The Spiller pick to me is a huge red flag that this front office is just the same as before -- ie clueless about how to properly build a wining foundation. Taking a), no matter how good, at 9 is stupid. I'm sorry. Its even worse when that) isn't going to be an every down player and will split carries with not one, but TWO other 1,000 yard rushers.
Every apologist should read this post.

Yeah right. I am sure they are really concerned about your opinion instead of their coaches and scouts
You sure have a lot of confidence in a franchise that has shown nothing to garner that confidence since what, 2002, and was only overshadowed by bone-headed first round picks by Denver, lol.
-
Ughh, I hated on Brown for 3 weeks before the Bowl Game vs CMU (Alum!). I guess he'll be alright, I would have rather had LeFevour.
-
Come on, you act like Pike is a sure thing to come in a be better than Edwards, Brohm or Fitzpatrick.
The chance of having a better QB to lead our team is a lot more important than drafting a kid who might play special teams for a few years then make someone's practice squad.
-
Lol, a DE from South Dakota State instead of Tony Pike. These rednecks in charge are hilariously out of touch.
-
was watching SC just now (so sorry no link) but he said that a top ten pick very well could get the deal done. AND that 1 team has already been talking to them who has a top 10. (Bills?) If we could land him for #9, do you do it? I say so 100%, everytime.
Remember innocent until proven guilty folks. Not sayin he IS innocent, but he hasnt been charged in reality. and is technically an innocent man.
We can see what Brohm has for the first few games, get our LT in rd2 and NT in rd3...Even if he did do it, i think this will be a wake up call for him, and hopefully will keep his nose clean.
Adam_Schefter: Pittsburgh has begun contacting teams to trade Ben Roethlisberger for a top 10 pick. At least one team considering it. Story far from done.
-
Agreed...And then use them 2 second rounders to get back into the first and get TIM TEBOW BABY!!!!!!
I just threw up in my mouth
-
Yeah we need OL or QB, not another RB.

I am a hardcore draftnik. I cannot go Thursday or Friday. There is also NO guarantee you'll even get in. You must stand in line for a wristband hours before the draft and then come back to actually get in the draft. NYC locals have a monopoly on it. On Saturday, no wristbands.........just show up at 9am and yer in. This yr I have the time and money to do this finally. I'm hoping to see other Bills fans there
I wondered how this works. That is why there are always so many annoying NYJ and Philly fans.
-
NO NO NO NO. It is really sad that Bills fans are even happy that McNabb is in DC so we might get Campbell.
-
eliminate sudden death.....overtime in the playoffs should be for a specific period of time, sufficient for at least each team to have one possession....say like 10 minutes. i could care less what they do in the regular season.
This is the correct opinion.
-
Funny how people have differing opinions on sports radio personalities.
I can't stand listening to Stephen A. Smith, but a friend of mine listens to him every day.
For me...Cowherd is currnently hands down the best in the business.
what... no
If you like someone who states their opinion 14 different times in one hour and constantly talks about things that don't have to do with sports and shouts down anyone who disagrees with him and craps on anything except LA or NYC or "good airport cities" then yeah I can see this

Are you serious? Of course the Bills need another RB. Right now the whole running game is predicated on Freddy (unless you think Lynch is going to suddenly come to life). One big hit, then what? So count on it, Nix and the gang are definitely drafting a RB. I highly doubt it will be Gerhart but there will be an additional back by the end of the draft.
As to Gerhart, the kid was a finalist for the Heisman, played multiple years in a very competitive conference (contrary to your puzzling claim), was the all time California high school RB (for yards), runs very well and with power (which the Bills need to compliment Jackson), and is a high character kid. HOWEVER, he's injured right now. And even if the Bills wanted him, they are surely not going to pick him in the first or second round and by the third, he'll be gone. He's expected to go late in the first or early in the second round.
Yeah, I'd rather count on Marshawn returning to form this year than draft a slow RB from Stanford for sure. Again, 343 carries this last year (really his only standout year) and injured. Hm.
-
Why is this a bad pick in the third round or so? I suspect that Lynch is a goner and they need a second back.
We have way more pressing needs than ANOTHER RB, nonetheless a slow RB from Stanford who played in a weak conference.
edit: plus he had 343 carries last year, which is way too many. Chris Perry, famous for carrying the ball every play, only had 338 in his biggest season. Meh.
-
I listened to NFL Radio this morning, and Peter King was on yet again. (I thought he was just a rare guest but apparently he's on all the time... UGH)
He was saying the Bills should draft that RB out of Stanford because he'd be a great Chan Gailey guy. I'm guessing he was talking about in the 2,3, or 4th round. Awful awful awful choice. We already have Fred Jackson, a great RB, and Marshawn who if he comes back right next year is a starter as well. Ugh.
Even if the kid plays at FB, we just don't need to draft one like that. I want to blow my brains out every time he is on the radio.

I'm a CMU alum and a homer, but the kid has heart and the will to win. You could say the same about T-bone but LeFevour never circumcised a baby or cried on the field.
In the games I watched this year, he made all the throws and stood in when necessary. Take all the scout jargon you want, but in a rebuilding year (or years) I'd be super happy if we took him in the 3rd round and let him play in the pre-season to see what happened.
Now that the dust has settled...

McShay's first 2011 mock draft, while laughable that he is doing it this early, has us picking #1 overall. Probably true. CJ will be all the buzzwords that everyone says about him but we'll still be the bottom of the barrel. By the time we're ready to compete again in 5 years with a new front office and coach he'll be used up.
