  1. I'm stunned. In the case of Hyde specifically, the dude has missed 1 or 2 games and still leads the NFL in interceptions. He always seems to be in around the football. I suppose he's just a prime example of the team that's been assembled here. What was it that Darryl Talley said in the missing rings presentation? Something to the effect of "were like the misfit toys from Christmas, that someone left off in Buffalo" I look at Andre Holmes, bounced from team to team "you're not good enough" leads the Bills in touchdowns. I look at Deonte Thompson, same type of story (100+ yards first game as a Bill). The eagles didn't think much of Jordan Matthews, same can be said for guys like Jerry Hughes, Lorenzo Alexander, Jordan Poyer, EJ Gaines, Ramon Humber, Steven Hauschka etc. etc. But all these guys come here and make solid contributions to the team. Why? I'm starting to think there's something more to our coach. There has to be. Why else would all these guys elevate their play, all of them at same time like that? Because there's something to believe in. There's a greater good than the X's and O's, or the dollar bills or all the other bs. There's a message that has struck them hard that only McD and the players know behind closed doors and that's where it should stay. Me personally, I love watching these guys play football. I look forward to it every week now. I think were in for a treat tomorrow and I can't wait to see what it's like when they return back in a couple weeks. A lot of our guys were castoffs and that's fine by me...you just keep winning and we'll show 'em together what misfits can do
  2. Just think tho...you win this game, now you're talking @ chiefs & @ patriots as the only two games that you feel "okay we might lose that one". But otherwise i think they'll be in all those games and i wouldnt be shocked at all if the defense has there way with alex smith and we win there too. just a thought
  3. Week 9, 1st place in the AFC will be the Buffalo Bills. When's the last time you could say that? Patriots/Steelers on a bye week. Take care of the Jets and the conference is yours Then get your mini-bye and your right back in New Era for more damage. I like it
  4. Currently, the Bills are 2nd in total offense, 2nd in total defense, 1st in rushing offense and 2nd in run defense. Not too shabby for McD's debut...
  5. Granted we'll have the winter attire later in the year but i think this is what you'll see in 2017. A season to be proud of
  6. With the release of the schedule, the one thing that really caught my eye is the opportunity for McDermott to make his mark early in his Buffalo Bills debut. If we take a close look at the first 5 games before the bye...here's what we have 1. Home opener Jets. The Jets were a 5 win team in 2016. If we didn't take week 17 off and actually have a defense on the field week 1, they would have been a 3 win team in 2016. There's a reason the Bills are 7 point favorites for week 1. 2. Carolina on the road. Another 6 win team in 2016, obviously there's the whole thing with sean and a few other coaches and players, the fact that the game is in Carolina just puts a bigger chip on his shoulder. He just won't be as dramatic about it as Rex was in New York. 3. Denver at home. Denver is not even close to what they were with Peyton Manning. They were not even a double digit win team last year. This is not a game to fear by any means, especially at home. 4. Atlanta on the road. This should be a challenge. Superbowl finalist, on the road. However, in recent years the SB loser has not had a good follow up season. I would not be shocked to see the Falcons somewhere around 9-7 this season. I also believe that Atlanta in recent years followed up a 13-3 year with 4-12. 5. Cincinnati on the road. A game that was won last year in this exact situation. Also the Bengals weren't any good in 2016. So what we have is 4 non-playoff teams before the bye that really were not very impressive just last season. This right here should provide a chance for the Bills to start strong (which I think they will) hopefully under the new coaching and direction they can keep the momentum going unlike years past where it's all fallen apart down the back half of the season.
  7. When September 2017 rolls around it's the one thing you can count on. Look at the track record. Lynch, Jackson, Spiller, McCoy. We have a pretty good combo back there right now. With the big boys up front like Richie & Miller i like McCoy's chances of repeating Taylor also dosen't hurt . I'd prefer the Bills to stick to what works and go with the run game if Mcdermott can get the defense straightened around
  8. How many of you remember Jim Kelly? How many of you have no idea who Jim Kelly is?? I don't blame you Once upon a time this organization knew how to win. They essentially were the patriots of their time. The big bullies who pushed everybody around and Kelly was the in the forefront of that. A nightmare for anyone who even dared to try him We can have that again. We will have it again It will look different tho...picture the cowboys in 2016. That's your ceiling for the Bills this season What's going to afford us the chance to be good is the young guy working his way to the top. Dareus IMO will be the major recipient of his tutelage. That's what good coaching does Everyday will be a struggle no doubt, but it will also be a triumph. There's something to be said for being a professional. It all stems from our coach who is the the strong, yet silent type
  9. I think we're due. There's not a whole lot of teams i put ahead of us TBH. I mean who in the AFC do your really put ahead of the Bills in a roster assessment? The Patriots obviously, the Steelers (although that's close) and maybe the Raiders?? What we really need is those guys on the outside to go to work. I'd like to see SJ come back on a cheap deal and see this kolby listenbee prospect become more than a mystery. We know what we have in certain things. The run game will be there...we have a legit #1 WR that alot of teams don't have. My gut feeling is McDermott knows what he's doing right now and is with the times I liked Chan, Marrone and to a lesser extent Jauron but you get the sense that these guys never had the whole picture and squandered their opportunity. They all had the right idea but went about it the wrong way IMO. Sean to me seems like a combination of rex and the hard-nosed approach that all coaches should have. Based on everything i read about him he seems to know when to be the friend yet also knows when to be the boss. Rex only wanted to be the friend. You won't win consistently with that. I just don't get that vibe with this young blood. Looks like the right guy for Buffalo, and it's long, loooooongg overdue
  10. Provided Carr can't go in this one...who do you see coming out as the victor and why? Before you answer with an "EJ sucks" type of response, lets not forget...just last year in week 2 Fitzpatrick beat Taylor right here in Orchard Park. I'd like to think Taylor would play well enough to win, but I wouldn't be shocked to see EJ come out ahead in the silver and black
  11. makes karlos williams look like a twig lol
  12. bah...not intended at all. Lets get back to talk about the best chance the Bills have of going to the playoffs
  13. Sorry i inadvertently hit send...this team has the coach. What they need IMO to break the wretched "P" word is guys who buy in and lay it all on the line on Sundays. We have the foundation. What we lack is the few guys that no matter what do wha there told (i'm looking at you jerry). The individual talent is there. I'd put us on par with the cowboys. Players will come for Terry, we just need to put it all together to make it a reality
  14. The "P" word that has evaded Bills fans for so long... You know i got into a discussion about rugby with my mother in law (who's a kiwi) and from that came a dialogue about meaningful games for your team We lack them. Sad to say the last real game we had something to cheer about was a win over the patriots in 2011 I can't get her a fathead of male/female players for the all blacks. But what i CAN do in two years time is get her a Watkins/McCoy/Dareus fathead that will mean something. Something that will be worthy of going on the wall. The team is close. What they need IMO is that game changer at DE
  15. We all cling for it. It's undeniable, unmistakable...and impossible to ignore. You can say all you want about the 4-2 start, (yes i know after 0-2) but even the most jaded, down-trodden fan in that instant, had to feel good we blanked the Patriots in New England. For me it was like walking on air, and it was only 4-2. What's it going to be like when we finally do what has to happen and start 6-3, 7-4, 8-5? Take that Patriots win and x by 1000 What we have is an owner who wants to win as bad as we do. It's easy to see. I know 17 years is a long time, it's half this posters life sadly...and it's an understatement to say we deserve better. But i'll wait. One more year of wildcard weekends, champioships and Superbowls that pass by. One more year of football pools. One more year of hosting family and friends over at the ol' homestead watching said events that don't involve our beloved Buffalo Bills. But i'll watch anyway. Why? Why give in one more time? That moment
  16. The season hasn't truly started till you've played your first home game. We've got one shortly. Really looking forward to the defense getting after Fitzy This right here is what dreams are made of. We might only be 1-1, but it'll be the game that inspires hope for a lot of folks. IMO Tyrod will have a 60 yard day on the ground, somebody (not named bush) will have a decent day in the backfield and the arrow point way up (dare I say, karlos who?) Can't look beyond tomorrow because that's what fools do, but you have to like this game as a Bills fan, especially in New Era's debut. Give me Buffalo 28-17
  17. We've all been waiting terribly long, but we can safely say New England will lose this year The crack in the armor has formed, and it will give rise to somebody else in the division. To me it's between Miami and Buffalo I can see the Bills clinching the division right before Christmas with a dramatic win. We won't be a team that has the home field advantage throughout, but we will enjoy our first home playoff game in 20 years. CBS will likely pick up the game, my question to you is as your getting ready (assuming you watch from home) the intro sparks up...what do you think the network rolls with? For me it's chainsmokers. I can see pictures of Dareus and Watkins slowly looking up to the field with "I need you, I need you, I need you right now Yeah, I need you right now" playing in the background. It's time folks......it's time

  19. You have to admit, Thursday night is going to be special. I've already invited a number of colleagues over to my house for this game. We've got a real opportunity here...to set the tone for the season on the right there on the spot. Pegula likely has things ready to rock for the opener and you can't go wrong flying a symbol like that over a crowd that will embrace it "right there on the spot" my apologies
  20. I've heard countless fans of other team suggest it. New York, New England, Dallas etc... Is it true?? I don't think so All teams come around...good ones get bad and bad ones get good. Terry is what has tipped the scales for Buffalo, good times are ahead. So it begs the question...what would YOU do with a home playoff game be it at the stadium or at home? The first game I'm going to no doubt...the second one I can't afford to bring everyone along for the ride so it would have to be an epic home party, one for the ages. I saw the Blue Jays break a 20+ year playoff drought and they almost won...the crowds in Western New York will rival what we saw there. I'm looking forward to it
  21. Let's pretend the Bills come out guns a blazin' in 2016...8-0. Then, the unthinkable happens. Just when it looks like they'll finally break the 16 year drought...Tyrod goes down with a season ending injury. Now if this were to happen, at 8-0...how much confidence would you have in Manuel coming in and leading the Bills to a winning season and more importantly, success in the playoffs? With Taylor I feel we can be very effective in the playoffs but certainly not dominating. And generally playoff teams kick it up a notch so i'd almost certainly have the old Fitzpatrick "waiting on the mistake to the game" feel to end our run. For as strange as it sounds and for as unpopular as this may be...I think I'd like EJ a little better in this situation. I think there's no expectations. He'd have Ryan in his ear believing in him which I think is important for EJ. I also think he wouldn't blow the whole deal out of proportion...in the same way a young Brady didn't in his first few years. For as many that have thrown in the towel on Manuel i'm not there yet, if Taylor plays well and doesn't get hurt it's likely Manuel's ticket out of Buffalo (which would be a good thing because it means we'd have competent quarterback play) but something still tugs at me saying that in the big moment, EJ would be better
  22. sure did, but at a fair cost. Glenn and Richie will be offered fair deals but nothing crazy. If they ask for something outrageous, they'll see the door like those two did My guess is McKelvin and Kyle both take a decent cut to stay, Mario bolts. With that added space a big physical linebacker will be added
  23. Doug has a dream job this spring/summer. Think of all the options and potential moves this man can make I think somewhere in there...you'll see a surprise move, not so much in the way of a releasing but more in somebody willing to take a big cut to stay on the Bills. Over the years Whaley has transformed this team into an up-and-comer. Now you have owners who treat the players very well and that word spreads quickly. Doug has a good image and vibe to fall back on. Remember the days when nobody wanted to come here?? I'm willing to bet if Mario doesn't take a serious reduction in pay there will be 5 or 6 capable vets waiting at the door. I still to this day can't get over folks who were hurt over the fred jackson thing. The guy was 34 years old...didn't contribute in any significant way to the team he went to and that's now a position of strength for the Bills. The man knows what he's doing. Others like spiller, kiko and byrd were also excellent moves in terms of letting them go with their inflated salaries. This offseason has to be the final touch in getting this team over the hump and back into the playoffs. And not just for a year or two, but many years. He's built up a nice core, I'm really hoping he just resigns the current talent that deserves it and makes a few moves in the draft to acquire more picks and further build the talent pool. There will likely be two big name additions in FA as well
  24. It's well documented that some teams have made the playoffs have needed help. The Packers & Giants both needed a miracle and made it in. I'm not saying the Bills make the playoffs this year, i'd be more apt to say they run the table for the division next year. But we are where we are This wknd is the first game I'll actually have a chance to sit down and watch start to finish I think they win. Even if it's only to keep playoff hopes alive for one more week Too many fans are throwing in the towel Three things... #1 Watch Dallas Saturday Night #2 Watch Buffalo Sunday @ 1 #3 Watch Pittsburgh Sunday @ 4:30 Where does Rex come into this??? You can never count him out. The NFL loves Rex Ryan...he isn't going anywhere Expect some games in Orchard Park to mean something at the end
