  1. Is any fanbase more in sync with their team? More emotionally wedded to their team? More anxious when the heart of the team maybe doesn't feel quite... in rhythm?

This may be hyperbole,  but I feel as if BB MD is using the body of Buffalo Bills Fandom as a gauge for the extent to which the heart of this team; players AND coaches,  can be resuscitated.  A lot of people here have said it,  not just me... I've never been more anguished; and more in grief over this team, than I was in January.  I had to completely unplug.  I'm sure the team sees it on social media, call in shows,  podcast streams,  etc. For many,  the extreme detachment this year was real.

I get it... the salary cap is real; but Beane did not have to be so hardcore about it...   Well,  like I began to say; Beane got out the AED machine... Assuming the TV shows are right,  the first shock is not the strongest.   You want to make sure you don't over shock the system. But... you do come in strong... make the ticking time and effort worth a try.  CLEAR!!!!!   (Poyer, Morse, Hyde) thump...  no reaction from the body.

CLEAR!!!!!   (Davis, Neal, Jackson,   Matakevitch, Von Miller paycut)   thump...   no reaction

CLEAR!!  (Tre White)  the body shifts a bit...  still not enough.

    CLEAR!!!  (Diggs trade!)

And at last... the body of the Buffalo Bills Fanbase is convulsing on the table: spitting,  trembling and groaning,  but the pulse is back people!  The will to fight together again... to live another day and struggle for survival and success. Put another way,... they've hooked me again,  lol

Beane would need to fit that WR under the cap not impossible but need to be less than 10mil. Really that would only be Aiyuk in my mind since he's on his rookie contract but will be looking for 30ish Million per next year. There are a number of 1 WR types going to be FA next year too. Bill's have Diggs money next year to use on a FA then so they could easily fill then need then if the rookie this year doesn't work.

The quandary is, trade up giving #28 and next years late 1st for cost controlled big 3 or trade for Aiyuk with #28 and pay top of the market the next 4 years. It is hard to pay top dollar to your WR and QB on offense and I suspect BB would prefer having a WR on their Rookie contract at a 1/3 the cost.

Good points.  Weighing salary vs. pick values... if the proven vet options are too expensive,  I think I'd like to get a WR in the high 2nd round this year,  rather than sit tight or trade up.

What were the warning signs with Sammy Watkins? I just remember him being seen as a great prospect, one of the best receiver prospects in a long

Not a knock on Sammy specifically.  My point is that we could have had Kelvin Benjamin! errr.... I mean,  Davante Adams... OR.... Jordan Matthew's, Jarvis Landry,  Allen Robinson.   But we threw in picks to get up to Watkins/ Mike Evans / OBJ territory and struck out.  Rather than either of those scenarios,  I'd rather trade the mid to low first rounder for a proven commodity. Who would that have been in 2014? I don’t know. Not sure if the right guy exists this year either,  but it would be my preference if possible.

  4. Your defensive minded head coach is one of the unanimous votes on the competition committee,  right?  Everyone's comments are aimed at nameless,  faceless "the NFL" but one of them takes questions from the local media every week.

In other news,  I love the phrase "un-weights himself"  I'm going to use that when it's time to chill out on the couch. Honey,  I'm just going to un-weight myself now...

Who besides you said he did a fake slide?  I'm keeping a "special" list.

I'm seeing 14 pages and counting of people laughing at you and "acknowledging" that you have destroyed your credibility around here.

I don't think it was a fake slide to the extent that a pump fake is a fake throw,  but at full speed, the way he slowed up and slightly leaned back as defenders were converging, in real time,  it had some gamesmanship to it. I figured he was seriously considering beginning to slide then when the defense hesitated, he saw the opening and opportunity to hit the gas.

You need to factor in the entire sentence together.  I’m saying in a world where the Bills win out and still miss the playoffs this is the most likely scenario where it happens.  There are other (not many) extremely unlikely scenarios not worth talking about.  I’m a statistics guy and got curious what some of those less than 1% chance scenarios looked like.  I figured others might be too and shared my work.  It doesn’t mean I want (or even think) it will actually happen.

Okay that makes sense,  sorry for poking fun at you.  😁

Nice write up, thanks!  Please remember, words matter. Statistically speaking, this scenario is possible but highly improbable.

LOL, yes, and I love the words "somewhat probable". Probable means "reasonably sure but not certain to happen".  Possible can mean anything from a 1% chance to a 99% chance of something happening. So somewhat probable will from now on mean...  59% to ... ... let's say... 77.4% sure to happen??  Yes, once we reach 77.5% certainty,  then it's straight up probable.

Diggs is in a lull. He was solid vs Philly- 6-74-1 but ya we need him back to that elite player.

I was going to start a Von thread but no need now, i 100% agree he played his best game all year and will only continue to be a difference maker

    Cook is awesome

D did a helluva job , losing more pieces in Hyde/AJE

    Looking eerily similar to 2021

Agree it's odd to see Diggs dropping multiple passes a game

Seems to be a new strategy the last few years with older players where they wait until mid season and then sign with a contender to try and win a SB rather than go to a crap team for the whole year in FA.

Seems like a no brainer. He's probably already got plenty of money... Don't need the full year's salary. Don't need the wear and tear on the body.

I’ll put on the Westwood One feed lol. Anyone know if the local feed with C Brown/ Eric Wood is on a station besides WGR55 that is synced up with the TV ? GR is always ahead of my video feed and I think they used to have another feed on some other station.

WGR has rewind for regular programming if you listen through the Audacy app. If they have it for the game, you could just press pause for a few seconds, then play again

  11. I was 19, living in Saranac Lake in the Adirondacks. I was on my way to work as a server at a barbecue joint and stopped at the Sears store downtown to buy... vacuum bags. Walked past the wall of TV's showing a disaster movie with no sound on. Got my bags, looked back at the tvs thinking, that's weird, they have been showing the same movie scene since I walked in...   wait a minute, no... No!!! This is real...  By the time I got to work, the second plane had hit. Still worked the whole day and I'll never forget it. So quiet, the only sounds were what the cooks made in the back... The TVs on all day but after a few hours, no volume in the restaurant either, every interaction with customers, taking orders and providing food, included a quiet, reverence for the shocking moment we were sharing, unspoken thoughts for everyone down there and a shared fear for ourselves, even as far away as we were.

I was a check airman on the 767 for one of the airlines involved.

I had a brand new copilot on his first trip in the 767. We had flown from NY to San Francisco the day prior, and this was a 6am departure from San Francisco going back.

I had just finished the required PA mentioning to keep seat belts fastened any time in the seats.

A message came on the cockpit console printer from our company dispatch stating "Numerous cockpit incursions.  Do not allow anyone to enter."

I read it and put it aside, A few minutes later I got another one stating numerous cockpit incursions, suggest immediate divert. We were the only airplane on the FAA control frequency as it was really early on the west coast. I told them I was going back to San Francisco and turned the thing around. I was just west of Las Vegas, and since I was a west coast Nay pilot in a former life, I was familiar with all the military bases. I planned to go in Navy Fallon if the door was breached.

I got the flight attendants construct a minor barricade to the cockpit using service carts.

I got a bunch of really bizarre messages on the return asking me to verify if I was still in command.

I knew it was really serious when they asked me to send verification data that was personal.

Eventually, I told them we were OK but that I was too busy to respond anymore.

Started down over Modesto, and by now the pax had figured out we had turned around and were descending, so I made a PA stating that the airplane was fine, we were returning to San Francisco and they would be informed of an issue once we landed.

By now I had learned that we had lost two airplanes.

Bay approach cleared me for an approach called the "Quiet Bridge," which is an eastern arrival noise abatement approach to avoid overflying the east bay.

The told them I was not going to do that, but that I was going to point the airplane at the the end of runway 28L and land the thing. I also told them that if someone tried to come through the door I was going to put the thing in the Bay and they better come get us.

A bit of a pause and the approach controller said that if I out the thing in the Bay they would get us.

Came over the San Mateo Bridge, about five miles from landing, and saw about 30 emergency vehicles on the taxiways near the runway. No airplanes.

Landed and they all chased us to the gate, and when I parked I saw about ten guys on the ramp with automatic weapons out.

Found out after landing that the flight that I had clown almost exclusively for the two years prior to getting the check airman position, the morning Dulles to LA had hit the Pentagon.

I knew I'd know the folks flying it, cockpit and cabin, and sure enough. I knew them all.

    Horrible day. Horrible week.

Got home Saturday and went to two memorial services, one for the captain who was buried at Arlington, and one for a husband/wife flight attendant couple that were killed at the Pentagon.

Wow, I never considered that with every other flight diverting, every single plane in the air became off course and suspicious on top of the actual terrorist flightpath diversions

  13. I am a huge McDermott fan but this thread does actually make me concerned / raise the eyebrows a bit.  I would be interested to factor in each coach's win loss record up to the year they made the Super Bowl as well. And who are the highest win loss percentage coach's who NEVER actually made the Super Bowl. Just based on name and reputation, would you fire them too?? Sure, every case is individual and unique and there's always an anomaly to the trend, but seriously, just look at the company McD is in within this chart and it's not inspiring.

I have noticed that too.   Other stadiums seem to have huge amounts of real estate between the front row and sidelines.   It makes me think sitting in the 1st or 2nd row is not worth it at some stadiums.  At OP, fans look like they could reach out a give the players shoulder massages at the end zone corners.

Saw the Jags/Chargers game at Sofi last season.  Love the amenities and large concourses.   Restrooms were close by and super easy to get to.   But prefer the game experience at Orchard Park by a lot.

They gotta fix the end zone corners though. They are actually too tight. It's more important that players feel free to make a play. A receiver diving all out for a pass diagonally through the end zone corner has to be mindful of the wall and curl up right away. It could actually be very dangerous, knock on wood, so far we've been fortunate. But I've seen some scary plays in those corners.

    Brownie (Chris Brown)

I heard his play by play call after the fact and didn't know what I was listening to. I thought, wow that's a familiar voice. This play by play sounds fantastic. It's not the Bills game for sure though... Wait, that's Brownie..  this is the Bills game!  Anyway, I hope Murph makes a quick, full recovery and is able to live a long happy life with his family and as Western NY royalty. I'm looking forward to hearing more of Chris Brown's play by play though
