That's the problem with highlights. It doesn't show the negative plays that are equally important in evaluating prospects.

I grew up a Colorado fan under McCartney and really like what Deion has done there. He has bright life back into Colorado football which is pretty remarkable with how bad they were and there was no energy behind the team.

As for Shedeur, I have watched him a lot over the last two years, and here is my breakdown.

Positives: he has excellent ball placement. Probably the most accurate passer in the class. He is a smart dude, does really well in school, and studied the game under great coaches. He is tough and will battle through hits, he took a ton of them at Colorado. He seems to have a short memory. He will get hit hard then hang in the pocket the next play and deliver while getting hit again, without shying away from contact. I think he actually has enough arm strength, not elite but good enough to get the ball where he needs to.

Negatives: I actually didn't agree with processing quickly. He seems to take a while to move from read to read. A big reason why he gets sacked so much. His o-line wasn't great, but he also didn't do them any favors. He got away with just throwing the ball up close receivers and because of receiver talent and lack of db talent in the big 12, he got away with it often. Probably a low possibility of those throws working in the league. He doesn't have great pocket awareness, and wil take a sack instead of throwing the ball away. Also, makes a 7 yard sack a 20 yard sack by retreating, and doesn't quite have the speed or agility to get away, making a bad situation worse. He has a pretty quiet demeanor. I wonder about his leadership and gaining respect in a NFL locker room. His brother, Shiloh, is much more like his dad when it comes to being a big loud personality.

All in all I don't think he is going to be a starting level QB and whoever ends up drafting him will be looking for his replacement. Just my two cents from following him the last couple of years.

Thanks for the broader info.  Nothing i hate more than retreating into a drive killing sack.  He did look a bit slow to accelerate in the pocket but it didn't hurt him on the highlights,  obviously...

  2. I didn't know that Deion's son was a player,  let alone a top prospect - just not a college fan and haven't been following the draft this year.  But I've watched a lot of football in my time...  just watched Sanders' highlights.  I would say he has IT. Goes through his progressions, scans the whole field, starts scrambling at the exact right time,  keeps his head up downfield, scrambles pretty well when needed,  places the ball accurately all over the field.  Can't ask for much more than that. His windup is a tad slow but that's my only criticism.

  3. I've only bet on sports twice.  In 2019 I bet the Bills to make the playoffs.  Made about $2,200.  This year,  I bet the Bills to make the Super Bowl...  we shall see :)  I only bet when I think I know something about the Bills that the masses don't.  And i guess my way of betting against them is just sitting out.

  4. You know they are all talking on the headsets, including the coordinators,... he should just make it a policy to defer these decisions to his coordinators since he's obviously not good at it,  they are both quick on their feet (mentally),  and they both want to be head coaches eventually... they have got to do something different.  Being uber prepared and thinking you've got every scenario perfectly pegged ahead of time obviously isn't working

  5. Is any fanbase more in sync with their team? More emotionally wedded to their team? More anxious when the heart of the team maybe doesn't feel quite... in rhythm?

This may be hyperbole,  but I feel as if BB MD is using the body of Buffalo Bills Fandom as a gauge for the extent to which the heart of this team; players AND coaches,  can be resuscitated.  A lot of people here have said it,  not just me... I've never been more anguished; and more in grief over this team, than I was in January.  I had to completely unplug.  I'm sure the team sees it on social media, call in shows,  podcast streams,  etc. For many,  the extreme detachment this year was real.

I get it... the salary cap is real; but Beane did not have to be so hardcore about it...   Well,  like I began to say; Beane got out the AED machine... Assuming the TV shows are right,  the first shock is not the strongest.   You want to make sure you don't over shock the system. But... you do come in strong... make the ticking time and effort worth a try.  CLEAR!!!!!   (Poyer, Morse, Hyde) thump...  no reaction from the body.

CLEAR!!!!!   (Davis, Neal, Jackson,   Matakevitch, Von Miller paycut)   thump...   no reaction

CLEAR!!  (Tre White)  the body shifts a bit...  still not enough.

    CLEAR!!!  (Diggs trade!)

And at last... the body of the Buffalo Bills Fanbase is convulsing on the table: spitting,  trembling and groaning,  but the pulse is back people!  The will to fight together again... to live another day and struggle for survival and success. Put another way,... they've hooked me again,  lol

Beane would need to fit that WR under the cap not impossible but need to be less than 10mil. Really that would only be Aiyuk in my mind since he's on his rookie contract but will be looking for 30ish Million per next year. There are a number of 1 WR types going to be FA next year too. Bill's have Diggs money next year to use on a FA then so they could easily fill then need then if the rookie this year doesn't work.

The quandary is, trade up giving #28 and next years late 1st for cost controlled big 3 or trade for Aiyuk with #28 and pay top of the market the next 4 years. It is hard to pay top dollar to your WR and QB on offense and I suspect BB would prefer having a WR on their Rookie contract at a 1/3 the cost.

Good points.  Weighing salary vs. pick values... if the proven vet options are too expensive,  I think I'd like to get a WR in the high 2nd round this year,  rather than sit tight or trade up.

What were the warning signs with Sammy Watkins? I just remember him being seen as a great prospect, one of the best receiver prospects in a long

Not a knock on Sammy specifically.  My point is that we could have had Kelvin Benjamin! errr.... I mean,  Davante Adams... OR.... Jordan Matthew's, Jarvis Landry,  Allen Robinson.   But we threw in picks to get up to Watkins/ Mike Evans / OBJ territory and struck out.  Rather than either of those scenarios,  I'd rather trade the mid to low first rounder for a proven commodity. Who would that have been in 2014? I don’t know. Not sure if the right guy exists this year either,  but it would be my preference if possible.

  8. Your defensive minded head coach is one of the unanimous votes on the competition committee,  right?  Everyone's comments are aimed at nameless,  faceless "the NFL" but one of them takes questions from the local media every week.

In other news,  I love the phrase "un-weights himself"  I'm going to use that when it's time to chill out on the couch. Honey,  I'm just going to un-weight myself now...
