We could name the combinations and permutations of 22 players at a time slipping. Everyone has their favorite risk and uses that as evidence. None can be eliminated. I’ll take the points in hand (100%, and the only inarguable certainty in this mess of a debate) and defend. Sitting in front of a television watching 300 pound men pawing at plastic grass trying to move slippery snow made the points on the board very valuable to me. You can disagree.

Well, no. The risk of xp miss assumption, more eloquently said by me, would be the same for the Bills or Dolphins. The Bills would have six or seven on the board, and the Dolphins would respond with six or seven. My assumption is that the xp result is the same for both teams. I wrote “assumed both make.” Thirty four seconds to match a TD, same xp result, and then OT.

Full disclosure. I’ve not coached an NFL team and I’ve not run the numbers, but: Seems to me odds of taking the TD and allowing 34 seconds and winning are greater than running out the clock and kicking the FG. Assumption: No team misses an xtra point if they get a TD. Situation becomes Bills up by seven. Miami has to score a TD in 34 seconds and then beat us in OT. I think this is less likely than a FG on that turf (cleared or not) with that makeshift OL. One poster has Hill living rent free in McDermott’s mind. There may be something to this.

I get the original post. Choosing either over the other isn’t ludicrous. I would like to see a poll of NFL GMs. One game, who do you pick? I think it’s something like 24 to 8, Mahomes. Now, take away Reid and McDermott, it’s closer to 20 to 12. No slight to anyone. Josh is my guy. He’s “Buffalo.”

I agree with your sentiment, certain in the very near future. But, this year, I still like our QB advantage, especially when compared to some of the other teams we’re likely to see instead.

I’d love to see that again in a crucial situation in a playoff game … with a snap after the film’s out there and the defense rocking BACK on their heals.

I have been offered promotions I’ve turned down. As Clint said, “A man’s got to know his limitations.” I don’t think being OC prepares one for being HC. Being an OC can inform someone who has an HC aptitude but it doesn’t provide the aptitude. OCs are artists. HCs are decorators. Chefs and restaurant managers. DJs and event planners, etc.
