  1. There was a study conducted by a University about this. They apparently found that a lop sidded problem does exist. It was presented to the league and the leagues response was basically that the study did not take into account revenue from good teams/matchups at primetime.

Comes down to more money for the everyone involved. As long as the competitive balance isn't normalized with fan base sizes (completely even markets per team), this problem will always occur.

  2. Agreed,

One thing to note is that the line seems to be solid at pass protection IMO, but does not fit a ground and pound style running attack. I think the offense has looked at it's best when TT takes over with a pass first approach. At least this has been when Karlos Williams has made teams pay for not stacking the box.

Bottom line, 1st and 10 running plays seem to be generating very minimal gains on a consistent basis.

If you would have told me at the beginning of the season that qb play would be our strongest position through 4 games... I would have predicted a 4-0 start.

  3. What I believe happened....

Waley wanted to release Freddy before training camp all along, but Pegula told Doug to keep him on and to allow Jackson to prove him wrong... Problem, jackson played great against Pittsburgh, but Waley was planning on cutting him all along.

In the end Waley doesn't have a reason for keeping Jackson on the team through the preseason other than the owner made him... It would have been a better for all parties if they had parted ways before camp, but Waley was handcuffed. There's no doubt that Whaley told Jackson (which was a lie) that he will make the team if he wins the rb back-up competition. What was he supposed to tell him? The owner is making me keep you on, but I'm definitly going to cut you in the end because we would rather keep our younger plethora of running backs?

I see this blunder on Pegula. He's a new owner, he needed to either give Waley full control of the situation to cut Jackson prior to camp.... Or he can be an Al Davis and have told Waley that Jackson stays no matter what. He went for something in the middle and it now looks bad for everyone.

  4. Our new OC was his his old OC. He's not getting traded until next year at the earliest, and that's if he flames out. I wanted him in the draft. I thought he was Cam Newton Lite.

But history shows that QBs who using running as a big part of their game tend to get adjusted too. No matter how big or strong your QB is, you don't want them taking hits. Defenses force those guys to beat you from the pocket and when you are used to make plays with your feet, it is hard to consistently win with your arm.

This would be my big concern with Taylor. I could see him doing great for a few games and teams adjusting.

I don't believe that defenses ever figured out their offence, I think the 49ers just abandoned it. I doubt he could survive 10+ seasons as a franchise qb playing this style of football, but the guy was lightning in a bottle, I would say let it ride if he was on my team and hope he stays healthy.

  5. I feel like we're giving Marrone too much of a free pass on the play calling. He is the head coach and is responsible for the entire team which includes Hacketts play calling. The fact that nothing has changed with the play calling all season, and now it might be at an all time low after the Jets game concerns me about Marrone. I blame much of the offensive line woes on predictable play calling that allows other team's D to just tee-off on the Bills.

Regardless, the Bills offense is getting frustrating to the point where it's unbearable to even watch! Run Run Pass Repeat!

  6. I'm trying to pick up Brown in my league. The plan has always been for Dixon to get around 3-5 touches per game when Freddy and Spiller were healthy and I don't think that needs to change much, maybe closer to the 4-7 range now with the injuries. He looked winded towards the end of the last game and I feel that the Bills were planning to eventually just plug Brown in next year if Spiller leaves and Freddy will be a year older. I could see Dixon possibly getting a chunk of the goal-line work, but Brown getting the majority of the carries. With Marrone's 'Win now' philosophy, I can't imagine him holding Brown back going forward this year.

I predict the goal line work for Dixon could keep his fantasy value equal to Brown's value, however Brown showed elite play making ability at times in Philly and has a higher upside value. I'm placing a claim for Brown with a back-up claim for Dixon in case I fail to land Brown.
