I love these posts as if people assume game changers are everywhere and teams just choose to ignore them for meh players.

Those who have game changers rarely trade them and if they do, it’s for a kings ransom or because they are a locker room cancer.

In the draft, that’s what everyone is trying to find.  No takes a player in the first three rounds hoping they don’t show up on the stat sheet.

Find me a team who says “nah, I don’t want a Moss, give me a Beasley.”

You are correct and I agree with you on a lot of this, and I love what our front office is doing. I love their direction and philosophy and they are going the right way with things. I love the players they signed I think they are better than meh. No issues on the coaching and gm front from me.

I also agree on the draft but very often teams seem to outsmart themselves based on need. . Deandre hopkins was selected 27th, if you look at the 26 picks before just looking at the names drafted and I wonder how many of them are still even around..

I guess I would like to hit on one of those players at some point on the offensive side of the ball. We seem to find good ones on the defensive side!

  2. I was thinking this morning after thinking back to the pack chief game the other night specifically Aaron Jones that we are definitely lacking a game changing player. And maybe the rumblings for Melvin Gordon started to make a bit more sense to me.

I think myself, maybe others ..Or maybe not . I got pretty hyped about some of the changes in the offense this offseason possibly thinking it could put us on par with some of the better offenses.

But I think I need to step back and realize we still have a rookie QB in his his first full year as a starter surrounded by new players but complimentary pieces..not game changers.

Our running backs to me are are more game managers. Gore has been a fantastic hard runner for us. singletary has shown some flashes in his little time but I wonder if opposing teams see them  as the type of players with the ability at any time to break something open at any time. Can motor even be a full time back or will he always be a more complimentary back?

Do any of you feel either of these guy can single handily Change  a game at any time?  Maybe we just need to see more of Motor. Maybe he can be that guy. But Could Gordon be that guy for a second or third rounder?? I’m not sure what value the Chargers are looking for.

Same at our Wr position. John brown is solid and clearly our number 1 right now for us. But I’m not sure he’s that player who can just go off at any time. I think Brown would be a very scary number two with a true number one threat. Beasley would be a very nice third option and then our fourth being duke, Isaiah would be solid four depth options.

TE is a tough position, maybe only a handful of greats out there. So I do think we can be successful rolling with Tyler and Dawson. I don’t think find better here without drafting a really top prospect.

I will be interested in seeing if anything goes down today. I don’t think Beane gives anyone a first or second.  Can someone be had for a third and more? I think for the most part He will continue to to follow his plan to build through the draft. Would Sanu or Sanders really have been a difference maker for us? I don’t think they would be anything more than another option. I still like Green for the right price. I think his personality fits exactly what they look for and can be a type of player that needs to be accounted for. But if asking price is too much I don’t think we make a move for Wr.

I also don’t think he gives up assets and touches the defensive side of the ball this year. We roll with what we have and try to figure it out.

At some point though I think we need to find that guy who is just super scary when he gets his hands on the ball with the ability to bust one open at any time.

Isn't that what fans discussing teams always is?  What if they did this?  What if they signed that guy?  Mystifies me why some have issues with that

I don't have an issue with discussing  signing guys etc I find  that is a reasonable topic to discuss now at this time --trades etc, making the team better . That’s relevant. I  just don’t t see the point of this particular topic when it's so far down the road.

I appreciate the measured response. I will, however, disagree with not being able to be on board with the team as a whole and off the boat with Josh. I think that part of modern football is coaches and front offices becoming married to the guy they picked. I like much of the coaching staff. I like most of the team. I think in this day and age it becomes everyone is going down with the ship. He is objectively one of the worst QBs in football according to the stats. They are trying to make it work. Daboll didn't forget how to play offense. I believe he has a QB he is forced to play that can't do what he's asking him to.

The front office is not going to give up on a guy 17 starting games or however many games it is into his career..they will do their best to put all their pieces into place and a in the next year or two and then yeah it will be up to josh to show what he’s capable of..

Slow down there. I don't have a problem with the general direction of the football team. I think some of us are concerned that the linchpin in the whole operation is a QB that can play every week.

To not have skeptical eyes gazing towards young lord Josh is simply idiotic. His numbers show that he is one of the worst QBs in football given the advanced stats. Capable of incredible plays? Yes. Not a real QB. He is what he is. Says the right things, looks the part. Can't stop his natural tendency to cough up the rock and generally do less-than-full-brain-capacity things with the football.

I disagree he really hasn’t coughed up the ball in the air in the past three weeks other than the one at tenn which was even questionable at best to being on him. That’s improvement.

I think two of the fumbles Today were on the online for getting beat so bad.

Some observations after a disappointing game:

    *  In many ways we dominated the first half yet couldn't get beyond a 7 - 3 lead.  This was reminiscent of the Bengal's game though nowhere near as dominant.  Still if we went into half up 14 - 3 it probably would have properly reflected the run of play.

    *  As others have noted let's do away with most of the designed Allen run plays accept inside the 10 yard line and short yardage QB sneaks.  Allen runs best after the pocket breaks down or with the run/pass & read option plays where they can't sell out to stop Allen.

    *  The designed Allen sweep on 3rd & 2 right before the half was a terrible call.  That play worked the 1st two games but hasn't since then.  The eagles entire defense flew to Allen and the ball.  Even without the fumble that play would have lost yardage.  Allen is NOT a RB and on a play like that the chance of a fumble is much higher.

    *  The defense was very disappointing particularly in the 2nd half.  One of the hidden issues that plagued us the entire game was that when the Eagles were heading into the wind they were able to get a couple of first downs and move themselves towards midfield.  This was HUGE in the game of field position that characterizes wind games at Rich Stadium.  I counted at least 3 times that we let them convert 3rd & long when they were inside their own 20 going into the wind.  IMO by doing that the D cost us at least 7 points.

    *  I was also curious that we gave the Eagles the ball AND the wind in the 3rd quarter.  If we had been leading 7 - 3 then I might have done that and tried to hold out to the 4th quarter for the wind.  I would have been thinking that at worst we'd be down 10 - 7 going into the 4th with the wind.  But down 11 - 7 there's no way I'm giving them both.  Just one TD by the Birds changes the complexion of the entire game.

    *  I actually thought Allen played well.  His stats sucked because towards the end he only hit on like 1 in 12 passes but by then the game was over.  He led us on 2 long TD drives and got us into position of a long FG right before half.  He didn't throw an INT and made a number of nice throws.  The reality is that our O is severely limited.  Singleterry flashes potential but we're way below average at RB IMO.  We don't have a true receiving TE threat and beyond Brown our WR's are average to below average.   And our O line got schooled today.

    *  But having said all that we're 5 - 2 and with a win next week we'll be at 6 - 2.  If someone said to me in July that we'd be 6 - 2 at the halfway mark I would have been thrilled!  I also don't think we should trade away draft picks for a WR or TE.  As others have noted this was never going to be our year.  If we make it as a wild card great.  But let's hold onto our draft picks and sign some big time FA's for next season.  That's when we'll be making a run.

This is a really good post! Well thought out., sorry I’ll probably ramble my thoughts a bit.

it would be interesting to go back and look at our third and shorts the past seven games. Daboll seems to go lunatic on this down in particular, game situational awareness is awful...I know maybe this play has worked in the past but

i don’t like that call at that time where we

were on the field, even punting at that time would not have been the worst thing.

I am concerned about our oline. At times they give josh more than ample time but at other times one or two guys just get blown off the ball almost Instantly.

is motor healthy or not. Why so long to work him into the game plan?

we really need another wr to take pressure off brown, the ripple effect of getting John brown on another teams number 2 corner would be huge in my opinion.

I’m concerned about lack of turnovers on d as someone else mentioned in another post. We try to be physical And aggressive and get after them front four, disguise stuff but when we can’t get to the qb our coverage seems a lot to be desired. Our aggression Has also left us to be beaten by the screen pass more often then not.. mcd needs to take a hard look at the tape and figure out our run d.

I don’t put this game All on josh. He played ok... I would say not enough to win or lose, he just needs to keep growing.  Another no int game and I think on at least two of those fumbles he had no chance.. see oline . I do think he could have played better and yes even though I hated the call but it’s still his job to take care of the ball on that fumble . He did put us in nice position at the end of the half. Wish we could have made that kick.. but

Game conditions were not really one to expect us going after 80 yard bombs all day. I don’t think offensively we are even meant to be a big play team. They will try to take plays in chunks all day.

I think we at are an interesting point almost 8 games in. I don’t think Beane trades assets unless it’s for a top wr who will be more than A one year a rental.

Where do our tight ends fit into this offense.

Or do we stay the course and continue to build through the offseason and free agency.

lastly I’m very concerned about number 85 whenever there is a flag thrown!

  7. We are 5-1 right...

from the astute posters on this board I have come to the conclusion that the following applies

our head coach sucks as our offense hasn’t clicked in 6 game like our d has come together in three years. How many games Does he need to win this year not to be canned?

our defense sucks As we were losing to the worst team in football after one half. Miami was clearly laying down in this one.

our qb sucks despite the improvement in most aspects we wanted him to improve on. Four tds one int in last two games with ratings of 98 and 111. 3 road wins as it’s easy to win on the road.. But we aren’t throwing for three hundred yards games  Or connecting with foster who caught most of those deep balls last year.

Our schedule is easy- the nfl screwed us big time In that regard. Haven’t played anyone or kept it close with the pats.

Doom and gloom for next week.

We sucked today, the players know they sucked. Coach will have them ready next week. For this week  I’m going to enjoy 5-1!!!

  8. I think this is a prime spot for the jets. If they get Mosley back they will make life difficult

for the pats. If the jets can score a few points I can see a Jet win as well. I also can see a situation where the jets make a run with a weaker second half schedule and get to nine wins and coming into Buffalo with playoff hopes on the line.

I personally feel like it would be a ton of fun to stomp our opponent every game. I'd watch those games over and over. One of the more exciting games last year was when we dominated the Vikings.

I have no problem getting up for this. I would enjoy a game that doesn’t go down to the wire for once and I would love to see our offense build some confidence in point scoring going into phily!

let get kroft involved and see what he can provide!

  10. I give him a A. When I look at some of the clown show dysfunctions in the nfl (I think for a period we fell In that category with coaching changes every other year.. Rex ) it finally feels nice to have some stability. Sean was very respected when being named For head coached material. hes very respected throughout the league. Him and Beane have a vision and into year 3 we are starting to see the results. The playoffs was a nice surprise year one and some people pissed on year two. It was a necessary to clean the dead weight and continue to shape their vision. I had no problem with taking a step back to further where they wanted the team to be.

He doesn’t do everything right, makes mistakes, but i think he really does try to learn from his mistakes and holds accountable as he he does his players. I sometimes think he wants his guys to succeed so much and invested into them and it takes longer to pull the plug. Like why not Duke sooner over Zay?

But players play for him and if they don’t want to buy in, their out. some laugh about the term process and culture but I tend to believe it’s huge from an organizational standpoint.

my buddy is a pats fan (I’m ashamed to know him) but he constantly tells me how at least Buffalo finally seems to have blueprint of how they want to shape a team.

We may not be where we all want to be .. yet.. but any team that plays us is should be in for a four quarter game.

  11. I think it was the right move at the time. And still way to early to see how it all pans out. I’m not sure even Beane knew what he would be getting with Jon Feliciano and Ty. We had signed Brown and Beasley, Kroft probably figured Zay would be in the equation.but our online was a disaster last year and had to be fixed at all costs .

sometimes I may not see what the coaches are seeing but don’t understand all the rotation back and forth but it would be hard to get Feliciano out there and the only way to get Cody in the field is have him play Rt.

i imagine beane was also scouting 2020 and knowing by all accounts it would be a great wr draft.

i don’t mind passing on them. Duke Kaboom is now our big body. I will be interested in seeing how the others careers play out though. Brown is a beast and I think the titans got a good pick.

  12. Great topic, I have been thinking about this myself.

When AB went to the Pats (like it or not) it immediately made their number 2 Gordon so much more important as opposing teams would have their number 2 db on him. That just trickles down the line. I love our WR core but  one more WR could easily put JB onto the second best corner.

I have a feeling NE is going to make a move for a WR, so will be interesting to see what happens and if our GM is happy to stay put or not.

our D is playing such an elite level that will keep us in every game. I am all for it.

My guess is, he was never "really" concussed, they just put him through the protocol for optics.  I totally disagree with posters saying he should sit out this week to teach him some kind of lesson.  It's not just all about Josh Allen, there's 52 other dudes plus coaching staff plus the rest of the organization who want the best chance to win on Sunday.

I am curious about this as well. It happened at a pretty critical point in the game, 4th quarter, the hit looked violent..but the way he ran off the field he looked as if he was coming back in. I am sure it was really so precautionary that possibly the only option is to put him in protocol..it's not something the medical staff possibly could rush him back on the field at that point.
