    The Odell Beckham trade by the Browns got all the publicity and love this off season.  The Cole Beasley and John Brown signings were also ran signings that flew completely under the radar.  Lets take a look at the three players twelve weeks into the season with the Bills heading towards the playoffs and the Browns all but eliminated from the post season.

    Odell Beckham Jr  compensation;

    2019   $17,000,000

    2020   $14,250,000

    2021   $15,750,000

    2022   $15,000,000

    2023   $ 15,000,000

    OBJ 2019 production through 12 games;

    57 catches

    805 yards

    2 TDs

    Cole Beasley compensation;

    2019   $11,400,000

    2020   $5,600,000

    2021   $5,900,000

    2022   $6,100,000

    Beasley 2019 production through 12 games;

    55 catches

    635 yards

    5 TDs

    John Brown compensation;

    2019   $10,700,000

    2020   $8,150,000

    2021   $8,150,000

    John Brown 2019  production through 12 games;

    61 catches

    882 yards

    5 TDs

    OBJ has the big name and the pedigree and there is no mistaking his elite receiving skills, but I think Beane and McDermott have it right when it comes to team building.  It's not about collecting a bunch of talented individual players, it's about bringing together a group of players who are willing to play team football.  I think the 2019 Bills are greater than the sum of their parts and teams like the Browns and the Cowboys simply are not.  Look how far this Buffalo Bills franchise has come in the last two years.  I think Beane and McDermott are a top 5 GM/Coach combo in the league right now.

    I agree! And I love how Beane  has structured the contracts with more Paid out in the first year. I think his goal is if his signing doesn’t pan out he has no intention of taking huge dead cap hits.

    That throw was filthy. On the run, under pressure in his own end zone, threads the needle to Beasely in stride. Nuthin’ mo betta!

    yep the media always keeps throwing in that “Long way to go with is accuracy”

    That throw was so sick, watching from that angle I’m not sure any qb makes that throw other than Josh Allen.

    On the topic of anyone and everyone who can write a horrible article these days

     So now we have to defend our choice for passing on Lamar?

    "A glaring error of not picking Lamar hangs above our heads"

    Sorry I don't even think twice about having Lamar instead of Josh. I think both QB's are where they are supposed to be.

  4. This is coming from one of the most sacked qbs in the nfl in a season.. maybe one to many hits. Maybe playing too safe running through his reads leading to 76 sacks in a season.  Or maybe a bit of jealousy that his career will never be measured as high as Josh.

    No mention of smoke haha maybe Cole Beasley scares someone. I guess anyone can have a voice as a former pro player.

  5. Mcd nailed it with his  comment re taking a step backwards to move forward which was exactly 2018. There was a bunch who didn’t like it coming after a playoff appearance but had to be done. Taking all that dead cap last year  on players who didn’t fit their mould was the right move. We will be better off for a decade with the way they are running the show..( and I’m not saying all moves have been perfect) But I Love the direction Of this team for the first time in a long time.

  6. I think there are refs who come in with a preconceived notion of possibly favouring one side more than the other. I have a thought time believing they are completely neutral.

    when Rex was here, he talked about being a bully On the field . I think the nfl was more likely to Look for calls against us.

    I think when you hear buffalo bills players come out and say he heard the referee say  “just give it to them” game

    against Dallas I saw more illegal hand penalties in five minutes than I have all season. Pretty ticky tacky on one of the best corners in the league.

    i listened to Charlie Weis talk about Josh Allen does not get a call sliding feet first when the bigger names qb get that call all the time.

    a rule is a rule so when it’s blatantly obvious to miss a call because you are not Tom Brady is ridiculous.

  7. Nice post. You know I never thought about your thoughts of our d watching and learning their tendencies. Your probably spot on And coupled with Romo’s comments about Mcd baiting them to find out how they react to a particular coverage for later in the game.

    I remember that throw to McKenzie and it was big. That throw to Beasley out of the end zone was just a dart and I think a few of his best passes were incompletions due to great coverage.

    I love Hausch, and there is no way anything is happening this season. We play it out. But we have to really look at this in the offseason. Can we find someone more reliable, I don’t know. But I’m worried about his leg, and mentally what place is he in.

    thanks for taking the time to write up a nice summary. We all could write pages, I am still so hyped up I don’t want to go to bed

    I have to also say I have checked out a few afc east message boards just to read their thoughts and Josh is getting some pretty good praise after today.

    I remember when the '88 Bills turned the corner.  There was no free agency then and the core group stayed with the Bills through the Super Bowl years.

    All is different now.  UFA's, FA's and the salary cap control the game  & a team unless you have a Tom Brady at QB.

    Enjoy this 2019 team, the players, the coaches and remember all can change so quickly. It's wonderful.

    GO BILLS!

    I actually was just thinking this game could be a game changer. I think players will open up more to playing in Buffalo based on the culture the front office has put into place.

    no longer do we need to try and lure a high priced free agent aka like a MARIO Williams to sell a team.  For the Antonio’s browns who don’t want to play in buffalo, that fine. If you love football, play well we should take care of you. We will have a great problem in trying to keep our own.

    I still think we are a few players away from really taking this to the next level but they are not going to try and fit a square player into their circle.

    that’s why this season is so much fun. The team is growing together with the fan base. We are a young up and coming team that play in a college atmosphere with die hard fans.

    Beane and mcd goal has always been to set up a team for continued success year in and out.
