Keep drafting one till you get it right. TT in the interim is fine, however long that might be. Don't give up on it though. Throw the most resources at the hardest position.
-
All I know is he'd likely make a wonderful pick up for the Patriots if he left here.
-
Even though it is clearly not real, it sounds pretty much like total reality to me regarding Pegula's thoughts on TT.
-
Gee if you would have asked me about taking a QB that played in Mississippi and was 6'2" tall I might have suggested the 3 year starter from Starkville rather than the 1 1/2 year guy in Oxford. How'd that Prescott fella turn out anyway?
-
Isn't that just like us. Defense is great, let's get Rex and destroy it. Now offense is good and defense stinks so let's blow up the whole coaching staff instead of just fixing the defense. I agree, the D will be good but now the problem will be the offense
Nobody chases their tail better than the Buffalo Bills. Absolutely my biggest fear. Only a team with no brain could do this twice right?
-
As soon as they announce him I can hate him. Until then, enjoy the games this weekend. Who knows, maybe one of the coaches on these teams will be the guy we hate soon!
-
I only hope it is someone that won't change the team's approach to running the ball. Going from Marrone and his ploddy big guards that couldn't move at all in space to what they've had these past 2 years has been refreshing. Averaging over 25 points a game is good. The D needed fixing more than the O. I'd hate to see them abandon it and destroy the strength of the team. (Sort of the flip of what Rex did to Schwartz's defense). Improve the wide receivers and in my opinion (and I understand why others differ), keep Tyrod (keep drafting till you find something better) and keep working with him and Jones. I am very fearful that whoever they hire will take them back more than a few steps and cost years of having to undo it again. The Bills chase their tails better than any team I've ever seen.

Watson is the answer only if the question is who the next failed QB will be.

If one is to believe DW from his presser yesterday, it would seem he has very little actual say in anything other than pro personnel and the college draft. If that is the reality and not just him attempting to dodge his responsibility for the the Rex situation, then there would be no need for Coughlin to fire him if Coughlin were hired. He would not be a threat as a decision maker. Coughlin would report to Terry and Kim and DW would work with him on finding what they need. Unless, of course, Coughlin has his own draft/personnel guy he wants. Frankly, after how it turned out in NY for him, I can't suspect Coughlin has a ready made personnel guy in waiting. George Young ain't walking through that door any time soon.

They trade down with some club desperate to get at the last 1st round QB (who turns out like Gabbert, which is exactly how our crackerjack scouting dept saw it too). Desperately seeking multiple safeties, wide receivers and just bodies in general to replace the enormous loss through free agency, the more tradedowns the merrier.

I underscored the main point about the Bills drafting. It's quite a rip job but there are some fair points.
And, oh my goodness, look: If Teddy Bridgewater is healthy enough to open 2017 as Minnesota’s starter, and the Vikings put Sam Bradford on the block, thenthere’s a Pro Bowl-caliber that can be had! And for what, a first-rounder? The Bills haven’t made use of those the past couple years anyway. (Entering Sunday, a combined total of eight games started by Bills first-round draft picks from the past four drafts this season.) That’s a plan Bills fans should be able to get behind. Otherwise, it’s pray EJ Manuel has secretly developed into a replacement-level starter, chase another dart-throw developmental QB this spring, and be thankful you’re 7-9, mostly because the Jets are lagging even further behind in their rebuild. So, really, there’s nothing stopping Whaley from making the move for Bradford if the opportunity presents itself.

Personally, I think something like ANY/A from Profootball reference is a better indicator of production. Just measuring total yards doesn't really tell you everything, since two equally talented QBs could be ranked different depending on play calling.
ANY/A rankings have Tyrod at 9th and 19th, averaging out to just about average. Which, the eye test tells me lines up. This year is down, imo, partially due to missing WRs for multiple games, especially deep threats.
Do I think Tyrod is a guy who can carry a bad defense? No. Do I think he is a guy that can win with an average to good defense? Yes.
We have talent on the defensive side (at least I think so). If our new DC can convince the FO that the defense will improve, I could see Tyrod coming back.
This!

It was such a Billsy kind of loss. That OT play with Reggie Bush is the worst thing I've seen in I don't know how long.
-
2nd and 12 inside the 30 in overtime and we run a reverse to Reggie Bush. His first carry in how many games?
Literally the worst playcall I have ever seen in my life.
Terrible! A killer! So 'cute" when there was no need for cute.

So they said this will be Whaley's third time in helping hire a HC... Maybe third time's the charm?
Wouldn't be surprised if Lynn is new HC (avoiding Whaley involvement) and the new coach finds a DC. No Whaley, no Brandon.
I hope they redo the training staff. It is ridiculous how many injured players are re-injured and how many overuse injuries there have been. Too big of an investment to have the best players out as much as they have been.

This team has a lot of issues besides Tyrod's inability to find receivers and throw the middle of the field. (Though that is certainly one of them). Their defense still stinks. They cannot stop any team with a decent QB and their run defense and pass rush arent very good either. I'm ready to move on from Rex. I like their rushing offense (much like I liked their Schwartz led D when Marrone bailed out, so gutting the whole thing is tough to stomach). I HATE these rebuilds where you change systems and that require 2 drafts and multiple free agent classes to get the "right" players. I have no problems moving on the coach now and think canning Whaley and Brandon has merit too. I do NOT want any of them picking another QB!

This is closer to the eyeball test. They are a bottom third defense. Some of the other rankings are definitely skewed by the quality of offenses they played......including a shutout of a thoroughly helpless Pats offense in NE.....so the 29th rank collectively makes sense.
This defense has been a whopping disappointment.
It's easy to blame the QB for the teams results......it's hard to resist, in fact.......but they are scoring points on offense.
Totally agree. I dread every game against a good QB. The pass rush has dropped off dramatically, there are almost no turnovers created, good backs gash them (especially in first halves it seems) and they still can't cover a tight end (how many years has this been going on for...it's amazing).
-
ZERO pass rush. Horrifying QB play the last quarter and a half. Bad special teams. Lots of blame to go around. They are what their record says they are.
-
Even though I like the spot with the Raiders having a key divisional contest with KC on Thursday, I just don't think our defense can hold up. I don't feel like this team has played a complete solid game in a long time, whether due to injuries or coaching or talent or whatever. They'd need one today to have any chance.
Raiders 33-17

I wasn't focused on Hughes much this game but geez, what has happened to his pass rush? There was very little pressure from him or Lorax and Bortles had a lot of time most of the time. It helped Bortles get room to run when the secondary and line backers got deeper.
The first half I was not enamored with anyone on either line but Dareus (in the 2nd quarter anyway). At least they made some corrections and sucked it up and played a little more passionately in the 2nd half. The defense looks really shaky and they need much better focus and performance the next 2 games. Their safeties really look cluless.

Carpenter
Both P. and Z Brown (all over the field, Cinci had no run game to speak of)
Kyle
Groy (1st game as a starter and the monster across from him didn't kill us)

Beating Cinci than either New England (I am really pessimistic on this one) or Seattle on a Monday night in Seattle no less. They absolutely have to be no worse than 5-5 to have any hope of a stretch run playoff burst. Even then they'd have to at least split with Oakland/Pittsburgh.

Thrilled to see guards that can pull! Marrone wanted immobile fat guys and it drove me nuts. Very happy to date with this line. The continuity and Miller's improvement have made a huge difference.

They've been doing a lot of shopping at the Dollar Store. I'd like to see them, if possible, trade down on draft day and acquire a few more higher valued players. They have needs all over the place that I don't think can be addressed at this level of free agent signing.
