Oh please! Were you born yesterday? What a ridiculous question. Look at the history books on the Bills before you post such a silly question.
They have called plays for many years. They hey have built a good reputation as play callers. They just haven't done it in the same season together for the Bills yet.
The point is that because of their reputations that they have already established, they could be the best play calling combination the Bills have ever put together in 1 specific season.
Generally the Bills in the past have been good at having 1 good coordinator and struggle on the other side of the ball. With these 2 guys as play callers, the Bills have the opportunity to have a top 10 offense and defense.
This is interesting to think about because of the potential it brings for the Bills being a quality football team on both sides of the ball.

This is weird...the guys haven't played a season together, those that have played so far are losers, and we thing THEY are the best we've ever had????
Based on what they had done in the past as play callers the potential is there.

M Willims, Anderson, and Merriman are all still under 30 years old.

Bills defensive line vs Marshawn Lynch
-
Last year was the first season the Bills finished in the top half of the league in offense since 2002.
-
I wonder how good Mark Anderson will be against Nate Solder and the Pats
-
All signs point to Merrimans surgery going well and his achillies is doing good.

No, YOU don't HAVE to care, but the OP seems to, so don't be rude. Just don't post.
I second that.

Eric Berry vs Stevie Johnson will be interesting
-
Mario Williams vs Rashad Butler of the Houston Texans

I cannot believe this topic exist
Why? Who is the best offensive and defensive play callers the Bills ever had in one season? We all know how important coaching is but so few people have an answer to the question.
-
Stephon Gilmore and Aaron Williams vs Larry Fitgerald and Michael Floyed will be a tough matchup

Did you even watch last season? If you did, you would know the answer right now is a resounding NO. Forget about Wanny for a minute...as much as I like Chan, he had some bone head calls a lot last year. I remember several games where FJ and or CJ were running wild in the first half just to see Chan stop running the ball in the 2nd half and have Fitz throw away the game for us. I mean, CJ in one of his starts had almost a 100 yards and a TD in the first half with another long TD run taken away from an unrelated penalty. Chan in all his infinite wisdom decides to only hand him the ball 3 times in the 2nd half despite only being down 7 points...and of course Fitz stunk it up in the 2nd half and we of course lost a game we could have won.
Dont get me wrong, I really like Chan, but to call him the best play caller ever is ridiculous at this point. WAY TOO MANY times he went away from the a run game where we were averaging over 4 and 5 yards per carry, and in some cases over 7 yards per carry, just to throw damn near every play and constantly go three and out. And before someone responds and says well we were always behind...in the instances I am referring to, we were either ahead, tied, or very close behind with no reason to throw every play with a struggling Fitz.
Until Chan stops doing his best Mike Martz impression and learns to RUN the ball more when its being so effective (and stop relying on the inconsistent Fitz so much), he can never be considered for one of the best play callers in our history. Especially given how immensely talented our back field is, I mean its easily one of the best in the NFL, if not the best. Our 3rd string RB could be a major of part of a RB rotation on a lot of teams and of course both FJ and CJ would be the best back on the majority of the NFL rosters.
So who has been a better offensive and defensive play calling combination that the Bills have ever had in 1 specific season?
-
Ron Brooks vs Lee Evans
The Bills traded Evans for a 4th round pick that became Ron Brooks
That will be an interesting matchup.
-
Whoever was calling the offense in 1999 and Wade Phillips calling D
In 1999 Joe Pendry was the OC
and Ted Cotrell was the DC under Wade Phillips
-
How about Scott Chandler catch a TD pass over Donte Whitner.
-
How about Cordy Glenn dominate Aaron Maybin in the run game
-
And Gailey has done exactly what as an O coordinator?
He must have done something right to get a head coaching gig in the NFL two different times from an OC position.
-
Unless they move D'Brick to RT, it will most likely be Anderson vs D'Brickashaw.
I'm sure the Bills will move Mario Williams around from time to time.
-
The Cowboys had the top rated defense in 1992 under Wannstedt.
-
Levy and Marchibroda?
Saban and Collier?
How can you say that after a six win season? Hell...Mularkey and Jauron could make a claim to be better than Gailey and W. at this point in time.
Levy didn't call plays. Walt Cory was the d coordinator with Marchabroda as OC
Wannstedt did not call plays in the 6 win season last year. George Edwards did.

The schedule is out and there will be a lot of player vs player battles to see this year. Who will get the best of who? Who are you looking forward to see go against each other.
Mario Williams vs D'Brickishaw Ferguson will be a good one to see.

With Brees asking price, Saints can't afford him and the Bills can't afford him.

I was wondering could Chan Gailey and Dave Wannstedt be the best offensive/defensive play caller combination the Bills ever had together in one season?
If not what combo is?
I added the following for clarification purposes of this thread

I believe the Bills traded Jason Peters for Eric Wood, Shawn Nelson, and Danny Batten
