  1. Constantin Ritzmann

    Tennessee DE 6-4 265

Ritzmann is a German-born exchange student who only played one season of high school football. He was redshirted in 2002 after tearing his left ACL. Ritzmann is much stronger rushing the passer than he is against the run. He is a raw talent that might be a worthy gamble for an NFL team.

  2. He was basically saying for example in 4 wide receiver sets Gilbride would have all of their receivers run an option based on the coverage on them then Bledsoe would have to react to all of the receivers adjusments and know where the reciever was going to be then throw the ball to a receiver. By the time Bledsoe would be able to figure out where to go with the ball he would have held on to the ball to long then get sacked.

  3. I have heard that Jimmy Smith has had a very good camp this year.

I have also heard that their offensive line has looked solid

Their 2nd & 3rd receivers have not looked good (Reggie Williams & Troy Edwards)

Their 3rd string TE Todd Yoder (who they got from Tampa) may start vs the Bills

Bryan Leftwich who has had an inconsistant camp/preseason performed well against the Bills in mop up duty against the Bills last season.

Fred Taylor has been hurt during the preseason but is expected to be healthy for the opener and could cause problems for the Bills defense

Jimmy Smith & Fred Taylor will be key players for the Bills to stop on opening day.

The Bills may also throw the ball more than run on opening day due to the Jaguars having the 2nd ranked running defense last season and their lack of pass rush. Perhaps the Bills use 4 wide receeiver sets often to create mismatches.

  4. Of their projected starters on defense they had a total of 11 sacks in 2003.

Aaron Schobal for the Bills had 11.5 by himself

Ryan Denney had 3.5 sacks last year which is more than their projected defensive ends and their projected linebackers combined. Their projected DE's had 0.

    Name sacks position

    M Stroud 4.5 DT

    J Henderson 3.5 DT

    P Spicer 0 DE

    B Green 0 DE

    M Peterson 1 MLB

    A Ayodele 1 WLB

    G Favors 0 SLB

Green is the projected RDE who was a 6th rounder in '03 but was injured all of his rookie season

Spicer is the projected LDE who was undrafted in '98. He played in all 16 games & started 1. He appears top be a journeyman DE who probably is better as a backup

Favors was on the Bills a few years ago as a backup & eventually was cut by the Bills. That was before the Bills signed Spikes & Posey

Although they have some very solid players on their defense, I definately see some weaknesses as a whole that the Bills could exploit.

    Brady sidelined with finger injury

    THE NEWS

Tight end Kyle Brady suffered a tendon injury to the middle finger of his right hand during Friday's preseason game. An examination by a hand specialist Monday revealed that Brady will need hand surgery and be out a minimum of three weeks.

    OUR VIEW

Brady has also been a favorite whipping boy of Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio this training camp, spending time with the second team with George Wrighster and Todd Yoder took reps with the first unit. Between the demotion and the injury, whatever miniscule fantasy value Brady once possessed is rapidly evaporating.
