You travel to a country that hates the US and has elected terrorists to govern it, and have the nerve to complain that the US Government evacuated you too slowly! I would be willing to bet a lot of these people are huge critics of the Government...but demand the most help from it. I have a great idea, don't travel to the middle east if you are looking to avoid trouble. Why should lives be risked to evacuate you if you chose to travel to a terrorist nation? It would be different if somebody was kidnapped and taken to Lebanon, but these people chose not to avoid the situation.
On a side note, Nancy Pelosi is outraged that the evacuees were going to be charged for their rides home. This policy was enacted in the 2003 Foreign Relations Authorization Act which Pelosi voted for! But hey, it's a chance for her to take a jab at the President.
are you talking about Lebanon? Palestine elected Hamas to govern it, but Lebanon's prime minister is a christian. AS for the complaining, I saw something on the news yesterday that the Americans were frustrated because they saw many other governments getting their people out quicker. Also, I'd venture to say that most of the Americans there are working for corporations, not "travellers to the Middle East".

Too bad we couldn't combine Toronto and Buffalo. Toronto is on fire with economic activity and is the economic engine of Canada. 5+ million people there and the suburbs/Southern Ontario.
In terms of sell-outs a lot depends on stadium size as well. You could reduce The Ralph to about 60-62k and there would definitely be a sell-out each week without question. With 47k season ticket holders and only a stadium of 60k the Bills could already say there games are sold out. So you have to consider the size. We have the 6th largest capacity in the NFL so that plays a very big factor in to "already being sold out."
I think that's what explains the uptick for the most patr--more and more Canadians have been buying Bills tickets. On the other hand, I sold my house six months ago for nearly double what I bought it at in 1997, so maybe something is happening?

thanks. I've signed and sent it along to others.

I have no insight as to the specific content, except to say that 1) it's from Hirsh, 2) Hirsh is an idiot, and 3) content from Hirsh is therefore not worth discussing.
Actually, I have one bit of insight: Iran, right now, is State's ball game. The DoD should shut the !@#$ up and let State do its job. The Pentagon should never be at odds with White House foreign policy, for the simple reason that I don't ever want the Pentagon dictating foreign policy. This, by the way, is the same "shut the !@#$ up and soldier" criticism I levelled at Rumsfeld in late 2002 for spouting off on diplomatic issues that were rightfully Powell's responsibility.
I don't believe they were interfering with State. They were asked to provide all possible options to engage Iran if the White House decides that military action is necessary. One of the (many) issues raised in the article was that the military brass objected to the fact that Rumsfeld/Cheney wanted a nuclear option, and the generals were able to convince them to take it off the table.

You would assume that's what it means. But that would be your assumption. My response only stated that Hirsh is a blowhard who doesn't know quite as much as he thinks he does, and who could only find the truth of the matter if he accidentally tripped over it while chasing his own pet theories. Hirsh simply isn't a credible source. Even if he's right.
Actually my assumption would be that you actually believe this story to have some truth, and I was trying indirectly to get you to respond to the content. I suppose issues about the messenger are more important than the message though.
So, how about that Ann Coulter?

yes, it's probably all fabricated....
He's certainly been fed bad info (or was it disinfo?) at times, but more often than not, his sources are good.
Given your response, I would take that to mean you think all is hunky dory between the military (sans air force) and Rumsfeld on Iran policy?

Interesting piece by S. Hersh in the New Yorker about the behind the scenes debate over Iran.

Do you think he actually reads her stuff? He and Rosy Palm are having a great discussion about her book....

As I mentioned in another thread, I've been leery about global equities this year given that the Fed (and the central banks of many other industrialized countries) is in the midst of a tightening period. As GG mentioned, combined with the housing bubble ending (if not bursting), I don't think we've seen the worst of the equity slide. I moved a significant chunk of my portfolio into a global bond fund, which can also take advantage of a falling dollar. I'll sit on the equity sidelines until the end of the year at least. I don't know why, but it always seems the worst equity declines happen in the fall.
good luck.

I am very sorry to hear this news.
He was a good influence on the PPP board. I will miss him.
RIP GBiB. I'll uncork a good bottle in your honor this evening....

Must be Canadian officials tonight...

Maybe DCDick is too busy posting here and elsewhere to actually read the article?
Let's see, the CATO institute is Libertarian; the Financial Times is Britain's equivalent of the Wall Street Journal (but the lemmings bought his diatribe). Oh, wait, I get it, they must be anti-constitution republicans....
-
A raving liberal posts quoting a raving liberal newspaper article about a raving liberal think tank's view that some Republicans "get it"...and while quoting, original said raving liberal casts a legitimate checks and balances issue into a bull sh-- partisan issue.
Original said raving liberal must get a nice, tingly feeling in his loins from casting everything as a partisan issue. It's just about the only explanation for his otherwise inexplicably stupid behavior.
I must be out of touch if the CATO institute is now considered liberal and the Financial Times is a liberal newspaper. Of course, given the politics of this board, Libertarians are now considered "liberal" by the arbiter of objectiveness...
Tom, Dick, and Harry...I can't figure out which one you are...

It seems he correctly evaluated the Bills' draft based upon their scheme and needs within the division. The "experts" who have given the Bills low grades did so based upon players they could/should have picked based on relative talent. However, the Bills' rankings were based upon who fits best in Jauron's system, given the talent.

(2) The starting defensive line is probably going to be Kelsay-Trips-Anderson-Schobel with Denney, McCargo(3-tech), and Williams(1-tech) rotating in constantly. Can this line provide an adequate passrush so that our young secondary players like McGee, Whitner, King, and Youboty aren't taken advantage of again and again? Can they stop opponents from demoralizing us with third down conversion after third down conversion? Can Kelsay/Denney demonstrate adequacy in rushing the passer in this upfield system?
I again have my doubts. I think, first of all, teams are going to run on us with very good success, but that's to be expected with a young interior line. If Trips, McCargo and Williams aren't busts, runstopping is something that will improve in upcoming seasons as THEY continue to improve. I'm more concerned about third downs. If Kelsay/Denney can't rush the passer, then we should've spent a day 1 pick on a passrusher since that is so important to this defense we're implementing. I think we will end up using a high pick on a passrusher next year, but that means we'll have wasted one year of development of a young passrusher by not having him in place this year.
One of the ways the pass rush might be improved is with Tripplet and McCargo playing 3rd downs as Jauron stated is likely. A strong interior pass rush can be just as effective as the exterior, if not more so by disrupting the pocket.

I certainly questioned not selecting a DT with the first pick, but It's about time the Bills will have a safety that will punish you over the middle (if only TD would've picked Roy W instead of Mike W).
I like the CB pick too--you can never have enough. Interesting OSU connections: maybe Nate will want to stay with this group?

Just came across this; more fuel on Rummy's fire?
I'm sure it's the media's fault...
Yes, I'm sober...
somewhat...

Seems a little more serious than that--these are generals, not politicians. It seems most of those who are criticizing were actually involved in the war effort too.
Can we send them back?

According to the article, it was a 1956 law. You mentioned she voted for it in 2003 but don't provide a link. ???
