  1. sean only posts the good ****. you know that.

also...i still don't work on fridays.

I feel like I just got a shot of adrenaline.

We just need likeive to come over and everything will fall into place.

    Shirts? Nope.

    Bravado? Plenty.

    Bath Salts? You damn straight.

  2. i hate losing a guy like gilmore, but i think we all knew it was going to happen. the bills have been much better with retaining their own guys, but it's never going to be 100%.

i also wanted to keep woods, but for that kind of money, he was going to move on.

with aaron, again, we all knew.

this is part of FA. none of this should really shock us. it's not ideal, but this shouldn't rock the team.

    Good post, Sean.

I don't think anyone's worried. It's just interesting to see what tweaks are made in terms of personnel. Does Kyle become a situational player or does he do exactly what he's done in the past where he is just so good at what he does you can't take him off the field. Does Mario get asked to drop back? Does a player like Spikes no longer have a role and resigning him doesn't make sense? Where exactly does Preston Brown fit in? We haven't seen Kiko in an outside role because he got hurt and his rookie year he was asked to play inside? It's just conversation man not necessarily panic.

Many are worried. Rex will do what needs to be done.

I know of at least two members on this board who have never, EVER coached a game in their lives. Schwartz is master @ the 4-3. Hughes and M. Williams can only work in a 4-3. You've just 1/2 neutered both of them cu'z neither one can play LB effectively.

Williams had 5 sacks in 5 games the last time he was asked to play OLB. I'm pretty sure he'll be ok...If that's what he's asked to do.

  4. People are so worried about experience. You can either play football or you can't. It's not like he's sitting on the bench in the spring or during practice. He's still taking all those reps, competing for a spot. Anyone coming into the NFL has zero NFL experience. College and the NFL are not the same thing. So why should Jones stay? Newton had what, 1 season at Auburn? Beat the Ducks?

Situations are very similar except Newton had 7 more games than Jones and he went number 1 overall. Russell Wilson had 4 full seasons and went in the third. So are front offices more worried about experience or athleticism? Bottom line is, he's got the ability and he certainly has some serious mental fortitude to be dropped into the Big 10 Championship, Semi Final and National Championship and win all 3.

    He's worth a look.

    He's really not.

  5. The only problem with that hope is that Norv kept getting offered (and taking) HC jobs - meaning Schwartz would be on his way out again. (Bonus smart-ass comment: His win % is 36%, not .36%. He would have to lose over 8,000 straight games to get down to .36%. That's a VERY patient owner!)

I think it's about 50/50 whether Schwartz stays or goes. He might feel like he's got so much talent on this D that they'll stay good enough to keep him in the HC conversation next year, so maybe he's more likely to turn down an unappealing job. But if an appealing HC job is offered, he'd be crazy not to take it. The idea of the lowly Bills losing DCs to head coaching jobs in 2 straight years is pretty crazy to me, but it really does seem possible. If it does happen, I have no idea whether they'd again look outside for another experienced DC, or stick with "continuity" and promote Donnie Henderson (I presume). I know Pepper Johnson is a popular name in this thread and others, but part of the reason he came here and switched to coaching D-line was to get more experience, since he'd only been a linebackers coach. I don't really think this 1 year of coaching D-line has gotten him the experience he needs to suddenly handle a whole defense. We all saw what happened with Raheem Morris, when a promising young position coach was given too much responsibility too soon.

Yeah, no idea how the "." ended up in there. I never even saw it.

Lies, damned lies, and statistics. He took over an 0-16 team, for chrissake. He went from 2-14 to 6-10 to 10-6 (playoffs) before suffering a setback in 2012 (4-12). He was 7-9 in his final season despite being 6th in offense and 16th in defense (they had a lot of close losses). They lost their final three games by scores of 18-16, 23-20, and 14-13.

    36% is 36%.

Nothing about what I wrote is "lies" whatsoever.

  6. Trestman is a good coach, he's been handed a raw deal here.

for some reason I can see Tennessee trading for him. He's a Vandy guy, they need a QB, Whisenhunt fixed Rivers last year...

Actually not a bad theory at all. I'm not sure if the Titans really see Mettenberger as their QB of the future so this could be possible, but only if Whisenhunt is still there.
