    He sucks.

Lol, he's not a starter, he'd be rotational at best, but his athleticism and skills got him taken in the 1st round.  The guy is much better than you're giving him credit for.  He's well worth a flier on a FA signing with no risk.

That Florida kid they drafted seems like he’s meant to be Milano’s back up. But I guess the way he landed on IR it’s not happening this season

Yeah, Vosean Joseph, I was hoping they'd carry him onto the season so they could designate him to return, but I guess you don't do that with depth guys.  He was a bit out matched in preseason before getting hurt. I think the game was moving a bit too fast for him.  No way to know if it would've caught up by now, but he's a fantastic athlete as well.

For now though they do need to get someone on the roster who can run better and be a coverage LBer like Milano... obviously not as good as Milano, but someone who can spot fill as needed.

I can actually see McBeane doing this.

They cannot be to thrilled with Maurice Alexander’s game as a fill-in starter.

But that’s for them to decipher. ?

They love guys with diverse skill sets.  I mean in a pinch Buchannon can also play safety, I am not sure how good he's been on special teams though and that cold be the real question to his value.  I need to do some research on that side of his game.  See if there are reports from his time in Arizona.

  2. I understand people's desires to add a "Dominant pass rusher" but there aren't a lot of them available, and the ones who are will cost a kings ransom.  Moving for a true pass rusher is very different than making a move for a WR... I think WR is more realistic because of the cost involved... flat out there are more WRs to go around so the price is cheaper.  Could be wrong though...

DE/edge, as well as OLB depth, are the biggest needs right now.

I hope we sign Deone Bucannon sooner rather than later, he's a great fit for our defense in the similar mold to Edmunds and Milano... he's a converted safety with great rangey speed but can also play in the box.

Tre is hands down playing at an all pro level this season

Lock him up because he shuts down a third of the field for a good portion of games

    I'll steal an oldie....

2/3 of the earth are covered by water, the other 1/3 is covered by Tre White!

(the line used to be about Roy Williams I believe when he was in college)

  5. There are the common names being kicked around, but I would also reach out to the Chargers for Keenan Allen as they're looking dead in the water this year.  I'd also kick the tires with KC for a cheaper option like Demarcus Robinson... they have big money invested in Watkins and Hill, and a high draft pick in Hardman, they likely can't keep them all and they need to add to their defense.  I would offer a pick for Robinson that they can flip for help on Defense.

When someone says “I’ll be honest” my bull#### detector usually goes off.  Not saying this is bs or that I endorse the comparison to Rodgers, but I really think all you can conclude is that I personally found the comparison to Losman inept.  It smacks of the “agenda” to generalize to “people on here” or complain about a point that isn’t contested.

I sit corrected about how Losman was scouted coming out of college, but the fact is he never rushed very effectively with the Bills (look up stats).  So put that together with his low passing yards production, and Allen has already exceeded him as a floor, as he has for EJ Manuel (another poor comparator being brought up here.

Bortles might be a better choice as a “floor”

Lol yeah comparing a guy to a future HOFer I totally have an agenda lol...

Funny how my comparison of what a guy could be AT WORST is "inept" when you don't even know the scouting on the guy I'm comparing to.

if there is anyone pushing an "agenda" it's not me.

Oh and if you take 5 seconds to look backt o how Losman was treated by his coaches, he got a raw shake if I ever saw one

He would've been better than Bortles hands down. It wasn't as negative as your took it, I actually really liked JP. So anyt time you want to do a second of research and not just react to names being thrown out and make assumptions you can go ahead.

Losman was Allen 15 years ago... Differences are 1 Allen is a much more keen football mind, and is not looked at as arrogant coming in, both were JP flaws. However both were highly debated mobile strong arm project QBs coming out with amazing ceilings and low floors.

Losman came into a team with Bledsoe, an established QB all be it a statue at the  twilight of his career. Allen was here with Peterman and a journeyman.  Losman's showy arrogance got him hurt in TC when Troy Vincent gave him a little "pop" and accidentally broke his leg....

But from then on Losman's development was mismanaged, and frankly the whole front office back then was a tire fire.

Allen thank GOD has been much better managed to TRY to protect him from himself and give him chances to succeed.

Not saying Losman would've been a god, but he was terribly managed but in their prime I'd take Losman over Bortles or EJ any day. So you, in my estimation are being more insulting than I am to Allen.

Also the Steelers brought Roethlisberger along by limiting him to about 20 pass attempts per game for the first few years to allow him to learn, while leaning on the run and D.  The Bills are passing more since its a passing league but they're doing something similar as they're using short high percentage passes and relying on the D.  It's smart to bring him along slowly.... Something that wasn't property done with Losman or EJ for that matter ...

Calling Allen Bortles in any way is a far worse insult in my estimation than calling him JP or EJ.

I don’t get the JP Losman comparator at all - yeah, he had a big arm, but I remember him as being a statue, with negligible pocket sense.  He also had very poor passing production in terms of YPG even though his completion % was OK.

That’s not to say JA is going to be Our Guy much less that he’s there yet, just to say that I don’t get the JP Losman comparison

You remember entirely wrong, he was a mobile QB with incredible arm talent coming out of college. He was considered an "improvisational QB" because hed move out of the pocket to throw or run when protection broke down.

I'm not directly saying they're the same since they have some different strengths and weaknesses... Merely pointing out Allen's top and bottom end.

I'll be honest people on here love a good comparison butt jump on one that says he'll be bad... You didn't argue that he isn't Rodgers despite the insanely large disparity in this two at this point but rather chose to go after my bottom end comparison... To be 100% fair he'll never be EXACTLY Rodgers just like he'll never be EXACTLY Losman, but those are 2 ends of the similar spectrum that Allen is on.

  8. He's not "there yet" in his development... He was a massive project coming in, and people need to remember that. His flashes early have made people think he's more advanced in his maturation process than his is....

Smart development of this kid means limiting his mistakes and not asking too much. His potential is the next Aaron Rodgers but his downside is the next JP Losman.... He may or may not be great but you can't rush his "that game" emergence.... Because he's not ready until he's ready.... If he ever is.   But if he gets there, holy hell can he be good.

I think it's safe to say that I do have a clue as to what's going on in the locker room, since from forever, we are told the routine. I'm not there, but I bet i'm correct.

Hurts being this right.... But I did tell you so... We're 1000x better on paper however we play like ***** cause the players expect to win...

Funny how that works it's like the game was a trap or something....

My argument has never been 100% we lose... But the danger in not taking another NFL team seriously, and I was kicked out and scoffed at for saying it....

Maybe others will take note now, but I doubt it.  They'll just pretend they were right... But tight now 100% the players came in thinking this was a cake walk

No such thing as a trap game. Many studies show this is the point. A study that I am referring to shows that good teams win trap games just as often as they win other games. Contending teams went 389-85 overall in trap games, good for a .820 winning percentage. In all other games against sub-.500 teams, the same contenders posted a .815 winning percentage, meaning they were actually more likely to win trap games than other games. So yeah... call out.

You also can eat a Jaron...

Not saying well lose but we definitely didn't come ready to go....

The last 2 times the Bills were favored by 16.5+ was 1992 and 1991.... We lost both games.

Last year against the Vikings we were 16.5 point underdogs and we won.

Just saying it happens. That's why this is a trap game.

here's some oversimplification - don't be stupid.   Maybe garbage is the only way to respond to a made up crisis. Yeah 53 players plus coaches are going to lose focus this week.

They are approaching this week like any other week, you have no basis of fact around this team and staff to have any expectation that they'll look past this opponent. It's a manufactured issue just to find a reason to post something during the week.

And regards to losing focus over a bye week, as far as the Bills are concerned, they are 4-1 after byes in the last 5 seasons. 2/3 of the league are .500 or above after a bye week.

You're looking for reasons they may lose that don't really exist.

And you're telling me how it is like you're in the room to know what's being done and said and what the players are thinking but you have no more or a clue than I do...

I mean God forbid on a discussion board people ... EEEEKKKKK discuss things ...

I'll be sure to run all my thoughts by you first via PM before posting in the future since you're obviously the Czar of what is allowed or not allowed to be talked about....

    What a jamoke...

What do you think they'll do during the week?

This garbage is lowest common denominator posting, youre putting forward nothing of value to end a discussion because you don't like it.

OF COURSE THEY'RE PRACTICING AND LOOKING AT FILM.

Doesn't mean guys can't ride too high and think they're better than they are. Doesn't mean they can't be counting wins and take a game for granted.

Your over simplification adds no value to a discussion hence why I gave an equally simple response.

It does happen where good teams lose to inferior teams. Sometimes it's because the inferior team played great and other times it's because the good team screwed themselves thinking they were the #### of the walk but they go so busy reading their press clippings and Patti f themselves on the back for being 4-1 they lost.

It does happen and pretending teams can't lose focus, especially after being on a bye and away from the team for a full week is just silly.

Byes are great, gives the guys a chance to relax an heal up, but it also can be bad as it gives time to lose focus.  It's the coaches job to get them back at it, but it's possible they don't...

If you subscribe to the theory of “ trap games” or if you don’t ( pretty sure it’s been debunked statistically) , the Bills matchup vs the Dolphins this week doesn’t fit the classic definition. A trap game is vs a non division opponent - probably with a lesser record- sandwiched between two division games or after consecutive division games. For those who do think that trap games are a thing, the Bills opponent the following week ( Eagles) will be coming off a division game vs Dallas and in the midst of a 3 game NFC run. Sounds like it might be a trap game for the Eagles if you’re a believer.

I don't agree with your definition, and that's your subjective way of looking at "trap games. It doesn't hold with others.

According to an ESPN article from a few years ago "An appropriate assessment since, in the jargon, there are certain matchups that have come to be known as "trap" games. There is no set definition for precisely what constitutes a "trap" game. But here's a loose explanation: A game in which a playoff contender faces a losing team, but one that still has some motivation for playing hard, and possesses some matchup advantages." - http://a.espncdn.com/nfl/columns/pasquarelli_len/1467816.html

Urban Dictionary (written by fans) - trap game
A trap game is a game played against an opponent generally deemed to be easy to defeat. As a result a person or team may not prepare as thoroughly as they would for a formidable opponent. Often this attitude and its attendant lack of preparation lead to a loss.
"Seattle should be able to defeat Cleveland easily this Sunday, but they need to be careful that this does not become a trap game for them." - https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.urbandictionary.com/define.php%3fterm=trap%2bgame&amp=true

Another take from In Game Trap - "What is a Trap Game?
A trap game is when a stronger opponent overlooks a weaker opponent and the weaker opponent overcomes adversity potentially winning the game. This especially happens when the stronger team is on their home turf with their fans behind their backs. They get too comfortable!" - https://ingametrap.com/what-is-a-trap-game

Football Outsiders - "Giving this supposition as wide a berth as possible, we'll define a trap game as any game against a sub-.500 opponent slotted between two games against opponents who, on the season, posted records above .500." - https://www.footballoutsiders.com/stat-analysis/2010/pfp-2007-trap-games

Soooo none of these are the exact same and none match yours, but all are entirely valid.

As for it being "debunked" what's been done is a statistical analysis ... Football outsiders did one in the link I sent. And while the favorite team wins most, they don't win all and the point is it's a trap but you don't HAVE TO fall for it...

    This is a trap game
