we can only hope this guy works out since we can't expect the team to draft O Line high-(i know we just took a G in the 2nd round which proves the point we should be drafting them high because he looks to be crushing it)

We can't waste those high picks to keep our franchise QB upright  when we need a 5th DE who can't find the QB, a 4th CB who doesn't fit our system but we are 'desperate', another undersized MLB/Special Teamer or a small, slow, non shifty RB-got to keep stockpiling them

I can't argue with you or your frustration.  The Dline high picks that don't play and rotate bother me the most.  Groot was a good pick, the rest including Oliver I don't care for.

Would extending Jones free up cap? I'm surprised that hasn't been done already, thought it was a given this off-season just based on play, regardless of cap.

I believe it is the last year of Jones' contract.  He originally signed a two year deal.  I am surprised they didn't extend him "to keep" him longer.  There must be reason or it would have already been done.  Maybe he does not want to extend his deal.  Also, the Bills MAY think they can resign him this offseason (if they want to) for less money.  Less money at that position at his age is a possibility.

IMO Jones is very good and very important to our team, fyi.

1    Dorsey needs to dial up a non stop short game featuring Kincaid, Cooke and ? With the obligatory long ball to Diggs/Hardy/Davis from time to time.

Quick hitters like the Rams game last year. Get Josh to deal to the playmakers and keep him safe for the first quarter of the season till the O line figures itself out and the team creates an identity.

    2. Have the corners play man, on the line, when it’s 3rd down and jam the receivers , not allowing free release and pitch and catch.

    Love it!

That's a different question than "should the Bills pay a 42 year old Tackle over a million to coach other O-line vets for a year"....

Jason Peters would not factor into Josh Allen's health.

Meh, I think I disagree.  IF Peters can improve the roster, you do it.  IF it is for mentorship and coaching you don't.  I think he can improve our Oline.

It's hard to say, it's sad, but, true, I'm kind of dumb, but, so are you.............Gordie Downie, The Tragically Hip

Give me a 100 year old Peters at RT over Spencer Brown.

Seriously, I think I agree.  I think that is a better player for the position and gets us a better O line!  Do it!

Jason Peters would be the 2nd best tackle on the Bills. That’s pretty sad. If you have a chance to sign him, you should.

    Correct and correct, sign him!

The second highest scoring team in ppg, last year and averaged 29.75 points in the last 8 games leading to the playoffs? In Dorsey’s first season? Scored 34 points vs Miami in the playoffs? That offense? Unless you’re basing this on the Cincy playoff loss, what? If you are basing it on that one game, what?

We can be better.  It is true.  And, to win the Super Bowl we need to improve the offense.

This is a really really good football team that is going to be absolute hell to play against.

That Dline against a mediocre at best Jets oline is going to have Aaron getting happy feet by the 3rd quarter.

The WR and RB rooms clearly have the most talent since Josh has been here. They can even run the ball from traditional formations.

They have some very tough decisions to make the toughest being how to break the news to Josh that Kyle should be in the CFL.

Maybe he will be out of the game by the 3rd quarter.

Nothing against Dane, but I believe he played 5 snaps so that’s a small sample size to say up or down. If you want to say it’s up and basing it on for starting and making the gift interception

I didn't watch the game.  But, if Dane played only 5 snaps it would suggest he is CB2 AND there is a large gap between him and Elam.  Enough of a gap the Bills don't want to risk Dane getting hurt because there is a big drop off to Elam.

I am good with Dane if he is the better starter.  My concern is first round whiff (and a trade up) AND that McD has not been able to coach him up.

No.  Last year there was only a dozen or so.  There never is a whole lot.  That's what has made Beane a bit of a legend for pulling some off.

I don't expect one, but you never know.  A Quess or Settle trade would probably garner interest from a few teams.

    https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/transactions/2022/trade/

I am going to throw it out there.  I think Beane pulls of two trades before the season starts.  If I were to guess, I would say Boogie Basham and an O linemen.

    Do former players count?

For that matter, does arrested but not charged count ?

Ed Oliver was arrested for DWI and weapon charges but charges were dropped.

Marcell Dareus - couple arrests. Weed (synthetic) and drag racing right?

Zay Jones - jumping through windows naked while fighting his brother

Cyrus Koundijo (spelling) - didn't he have a breakdown and was wandering around near the 400? I f orget if that was an arrest or not

Was Shady ever arrested for anything ? His posse had that run in with an off duty cop in Philly. Can't remember if there was an arrest. There was also all that ugliness with his ex-GF

Agree with all these.  Former players I think would count otherwise I don't think the lists would be as long?  Could be wrong

This staff is always cautious, imo.  I'd be surprised if they let him play until they were 100% on it - I'd guess sometime in October at the earliest.

Well, they used to be more cautious.  Gabe playing last year with a high ankle sprain and JA17 playing through injuries are examples of not being cautious.  But, yes typically the Bills do a good job with that.

If Cook doesn't fumble on his first career carry, I think his 2022 season would've gone much differently. He didn't touch the ball again in the opening game, and had only 35 total touches in Weeks 2-9

As long as Cook doesn't fumble vs the Jets Week 1, I expect he'll be the RB1 for the season.

I agree.  McD should have let him play more.  I think one of Cook's next carries (or next 10) was a fumble too.  Bad timing that didn't allow him to play much last season.

I have little doubt that they wanted to keep Frazier as a coach, but strip him of play-calling duties.  Hence he left.

Interesting thought.  A couple more thoughts on that theory...

    - I don't think he will ever coach again, so...

    - His pride was more important than another year of pay?

    - His pride really would have suffered if he was stripped of play calling, stayed and we won the Super Bowl

I agree with some of the depth comments. You can argue our depth has improved. But the talent needed to win in the playoffs?

Last year who were the top 5 Bills players: Allen, Diggs, Edmunds, Miller, Milano? Honorable mentions for guys like White, Poyer, Hyde, Singletary, Oliver, Dawkins.

Who is it this year? Allen, Diggs, Miller, Milano, Hyde? Honorable mentions for guys like White, Poyer, Oliver, Dawkins, Cook. What free agent or draft pick would crack the list?

Meh comment.  Last years players had a bunch of injuries.  This is apples to oranges.  Also, Singletary was not a top player, he was a competing for a starting role and did well in that role and won the starting RB.  Based on your top players, it seems to be a combination of the beginning of the year and mid to end of season.  Not all of these players were top Bills at one time.  I think this is a flawed argument.  Including you don't have to cap top players at 5.  Some years you may have 3, some 5, some 10.

White was not a top player last year from OTA's on.

Your thought process is good, but, the comparison is flawed.

We have more good, impactful healthy players this year except Von Miller.

Who says we are worse at MLB?

Edmunds is extremely overrated and that's why we let him walk.

Anyone WITH SPEED can fit into his slot in that system and achieve similar results.

For starters, I think Edmunds was good, but, over rated.  We will miss him, but, hopefully not much.  I liked letting him go after we didn't sign him to a team friendly deal the previous off season.  However, this comment makes me think of...

It is only MLB that I think the team is definitely weaker on paper. The issue is I think that drop off is significant..... don't love any of our options there now that they have concluded it is too much for Williams as a rookie. I also think there remain questions about the secondary just because three older guys coming off injuries to differing extents is a legit concern. I hope they can play good football and stay healthy but it isn't a sure thing.

    Agree, but, optimistic

I think the fact that he played an entire season last year without a single penalty tells us something impressive about him “from the neck up”.

That, and he gave up ZERO sacks in 46 college games. I would be best to temper my expectations, but this is pretty exciting. A long way to go, but things look good so far!

    .

    Agreed and excited!
