  1. This will be the first huge test for our secondary, minus Byrd...this is where we find out exactly how good the "Savages" really are.

Especially Gilmore and McKelvin...if they can shutdown these WR's, they can shutdown any WR's.

On a sidenote...I think the Bears are a darn good team, with a really good HC, a damn good QB, arguably the best WR duo in the league, an elite RB, and a talented defense...it'll be a good test for the Bills.

  2. Roger Goodell is a joke and he is turning the NFL into a joke...

A year after the fact, you suspend the guy who is trying to replace the Bills' best player on defense?

Getting caught with some weed is half as bad as beating the living sh*t out of your wife?

    Unbelievable.

*They need to make a rule that you have to be suspended, for any offense you are convicted of, during the year the infraction took place...this is bullsh*t.

  3. I am blown away to read that so many "wouldn't fault ex-Bills" if they followed the team to Toronto.

Money be damned, have a little pride and integrity...stand up for the people who have made you a millionaire.

Any ex-Bills player that follows the team to Toronto IF it moves, would be immediately erased from my memory of Buffalo Bills football...they would be dead to me, as would the team.

Kind of funny how many people are spending hard-earned money to go support this guy this weekend...meanwhile he is admitting he would sell-out and spit in the faces of those same people.

Talk about biting the hand that feeds you.

(Hopefully Terry Pegula can prevent this mess, that will undoubtedly happen, if the unforgiving scenario comes to fruition.)

Not really that bothered about the comment. Let's put it this way, is there something you dislike, like say a resturant, that you wouldn't ever step foot in it? What about if they paid you?

I take his comment as that... He wouldn't go out of his way to support a team in Toronto unless they paid him.

ANY MAN (or woman) WITH ANY SENSE OF PRIDE AND INTEGRITY...DOES NOT SELL-OUT!

That's like saying someone could pay you enough to stop rooting for the Bills, and start rooting for the Patriots...if so, what kind of fan are you? (Not you personally, just fans in general.)

*EDIT: Sorry if this is a little strong...but growing up and becoming a man, I was always reminded to keep my beliefs/morals within view...Andre Reed has failed to do that, in my opinion.

  4.

    This again?

How can a journalist not get to the bottom of this? It can't be that hard.

It is not football-related, therefore HIPAA laws come into play...making Cordy Glenn the ONLY person in this world who can openly talk about whatever the problem is.

So, unless Cordy Glenn tells them, no journalist is going to get you the answer you are looking for.

  5. Lots of interesting stuff out there on this topic...I personally think it has to do with continuity and getting fair value, especially at skill-positions.

What holds back NFL trades? (this article probably has the legit answers you are looking for...scheme, skepticism, financial plan, etc.)

    http://espn.go.com/n...back-nfl-trades

Player trades? Rare in the NFL, except for Eagles... (quote from this article)

    http://www.nytimes.c...wanted=all&_r=0

With 53 players in an N.F.L. locker room and the value placed on player development, teams are less willing to sacrifice a player or take on another for short-term gain. That is why a deal is more likely to be made for a draft pick than for another player.
  6. San Francisco just lost LaMicheal James and another RB. They are a SuperBowl contender and surefire playoff team meaning their first round pick will be very low. Trade Spiller and a conditional 5th or 6th for their first round pick.

I decided to vote "no trade," because I do not think trading Spiller helps us this year.

But, if I had to trade him because we knew we were losing him at season's end...I ship him to San Fran as well, but for Marcus Lattimore and a 2nd or 3rd round pick. I just cannot see another team trading a 1st round pick for a RB after Trent Richardson failed so badly...so we get Lattimore for the future, to sit and learn behind Fred for a year, until he's fully healthy.

Marcus Lattimore would have been a top-20 pick if he did not get hurt in college...I also met him once while living in South Carolina, and I'll say he'd immediately be a fan-favorite in Buffalo.

(I'd then use one of our 2nd round picks to draft Todd Gurley...imagine Brown, Lattimore and Gurley as our backfield moving forward?)

But, again, I do advocate trading Spiller...because if the Bills are indeed "all-in," and by accounts they are...keeping Spiller helps more than trading him would.

  7. A big factor in EJ's success or lack thereof as a pro will be the circumstances around him, the ability of the coaching staff to fit their coaching style to him, and EJ's ability to overcome a couple of critical mental blocks he seems to have developed.

This is the most important thing, and what this year is all about...

    1. The circumstances around EJ have improved, which should lead to him improving.

    2. The coaching staff has improved with the addition of a QB-coach...hopefully Hackett's abilities can improve, which in turn, helps EJ improve.

    3. Can EJ get mentally stronger and quickly forget a fumble or INT? If the circumstances and coaching has improved, leading to EJ improving...then his mental toughness/confidence should improve.

This is what everything is all about...every move they made, everything they have said...this is what this season for EJ and the Bills will be all about.

Can he do it? Can he take that next step? Everything is in place for him to do it, it's all on his shoulders now.

EDIT: Because of all of this, taking EJ in the mid-first-round, trading up for Watkins,(etc)...this season is the most important season for this organization since 1999.

  8. I think there is a chance we keep 7... If we keep 7 it's because they want to keep all 3- Hogan, Easley, and Hogan

Ugh, I don't want to keep ONE "Hogan," let alone TWO of them! :nana:

And does Hogan really "catch everything?" I recall in 2013 he had two critical drops on 3rd down, one of which was in overtime. (Can't remember the opponent.)

He also had a critical drop last year, late in a game...and another time, if I recall correctly, he ran the wrong route in the end zone.

He couldn't breakthrough a WR group in Miami that was...Brian Hartline, Davone Bess, Anthony Armstrong, Legedu Naanee, Jabar Gaffney, Armon Binns, Rishard Matthews and Marlon Moore.

How in the world does he fit into our WR group?

He got a cool nickname from a training camp/preseason TV show, that's his claim to fame. He's the kid in gym class who gets extra credit for "trying hard."

Brett Swain (who?) beat him out in San Francisco in 2011...and then he couldn't beat out Ramses Barden with the Giants in 2011, either, and the Bills just cut him.

I just don't see what other people see in this kid that makes him so special that he needs to make our opening day roster?

  9. I made a prediction a year ago, and I am sticking to it! :flirt:

    TRH @BUFFAL0SOLDI3R · 6:20 PM - 24 Aug 2013

@MichaelThomas82 Chris hogan has reached his peak. he was turned down by a Miami team who desperately needed WRs for a rookie qb. Says a lot.

    TRH @BUFFAL0SOLDI3R · 6:20 PM - 24 Aug 2013

@MichaelThomas82 Kevin Elliott is my sleeper, he is 6-3, 210...and runs a 4.4 forty yard dash...I can see him making the team next year.

(Yes, I realized my forty-time for him is a little off, should be a 4.5 forty-yard dash.)

  10. I believe it is due to his turf toe, not the MRSA infection...

    Last year...

I will have to deal with it my whole life,” Nicks said, via JoeBucsFan.com. “Honestly, it is not 100 percent, yet. I plan on playing some this next preseason game and obviously, the third one. We will see how it goes.”

    http://profootballta...ent-toe-injury/

    This year...

Basically, whether Nicks can go or not, it comes down to a pain tolerance issue. When Nicks first had the nasty turf toe – Joe saw that toe two years ago just before Nicks was placed on injured reserve and it was freaking gross! – he told Joe and other Tampa area pen and mic club types that he would have to live with pain the rest of his life. It comes down to how much pain can Nicks stomach.

    http://www.joebucsfan.com/?p=116270

EDIT: Lots of Bucs fans are saying the same thing.

  11. I do not advocate getting rid of CJ Spiller, he is an elite talent when healthy...and the last time we ran a RB out of town, he won a Super Bowl.

Now, I do think, given the team tried to trade up to draft Carlos Hyde, and had interest in Bryce Brown before the draft, they want to go in another direction.

I could see them trying to trade Spiller, or letting him walk at the end of the season...and using a 2nd round pick on Todd Gurley. (6-1, 232 - 4.4 forty.)

A platoon of Gurley, Brown, Dixon and Fred next year could be deadly...Gurley and Brown alone would be a dynamic duo at RB, major size/speed combo for both.

*But, I am an advocate for building through the draft and keeping your own homegrown talent...so we could use the 2nd round pick elsewhere.

  12. He would be a minority owner like J-Lo, Gloria Estefan, Fergie, and Serena Williams in Miami...or Jay-Z with the Nets...nothing more, nothing less.

And no, they cannot discuss building a new stadium in Toronto, or elsewhere outside NYS, until the lease is up...as pointed out, that is a breach of contract.

They can't even discuss moving the team, let alone building a new stadium in Toronto...the fact you even think they can, blows my mind.

  13. I have heard of Seattle trying to get an NHL and NBA team...but another NFL team? I have never heard of that one, ever.

Chicago is or was trying to get a second NFL team, I remember that much...and even found this absurd quote from an article about it.

“I really believe we could get a second football team,” the former mayor said. “I’ve always believed — the Chicago Cardinals, Bears — why is it that New York has two? Florida has three, San Francisco has two. Now you think of that, we could easily take — Chicago loves sports and we could get a second team in here."

    http://chicago.cbslo...eam-in-chicago/

He must not realize that "Florida" is a state, not a city. Lol. I guess he also doesn't realize the state of NY only has ONE NFL team! :flirt:

*As for the Bills...it doesn't matter what ANY of US do, it all comes down to money...and I am confident Terry Pegula will not be out-bid.

  14. The Sabres are in a similar boat. How nice would it be to have a stretch of two powerhouse squads in Buffalo?

Don't talk about the Sabres, it's football season! :nana: But, yeah...this is what I was trying to get at the other night, and nobody wanted to hear about it. Lol.

This is also why I am so sick of hearing, "same old Buffalo Bills, blah blah." Just compare rosters from 2-3 years ago to now, it's incredible.

(The Sabres AND the Bills have as much young talent as any other team in their respective leagues, in my opinion.)

  15. A couple things here...

    1. I wouldn't say he sits outside our top-3 defensive linemen, as there were 3 with double-digit sacks last year, and he was one of them.

    2. Is Whaley that much of a genius, or is Grigson not very good as a GM? He did get bent over by the Browns in the Richardson trade.

I like Whaley, and will defend him until I'm Buffalo-blue in the face...but for him to be recognized (and ultimately keep his job), this team needs to turn the corner this year...and Sammy Watkins needs to be a top-10 WR in the NFL, at the very least...given how much people are ripping apart that move.

IF Buffalo was to make a run at the playoffs, even grab a Wild Card spot...I could see Whaley getting GM of the year and Marrone Coach of the year.

  16. So, your plan is to have everyone act like a bunch of uneducated imbeciles, who have no class? Lol, good luck with that.

You might as well just go to NYC and burn down the league offices...and the Ralph, and Goodell's home, and Bon Jovi's home...hell, even the Rogers Centre!

If Bon Jovi's bid wins, you know what would hurt him the most? 7 years of a completely empty stadium. Even the players would hate him. That's your ticket, bend him over!

Plus, I highly doubt he has "well north of $300 million in cash," as his reported net-worth is $290 million...not close enough to own an NFL team as the majority-owner.

If Terry Pegula does not win the bid to own the team, something is wrong...he is by far the most wealthy of the known candidates...he does have $300 million+ in cash, easily.

  17.

So most of the preemptions are in off-season?

The pre-emptions are for regular season games...there are 16 NFL games for the Bills, and there are 82 NHL games for the Sabres.

    It's common sense. Lol.

So, yes...after January, when the Bills are no longer playing games and the Sabres are...it is in the NFL offseason.

  18. I will probably have extra tickets to give away for each night practice this summer...

I currently have July 20th, July 25th, July 26th and August 18th...I have 9 in total for each, probably have 5 extra for each.

I will let you know what I have extra when they come around...PM me if you want me to put your name down in case I do have extras.

(We might do giveaways through our new website if it is up and running in time...but I doubt that happens.)

  19. I live and die by both teams. I have for 25+ years. (I'm 31)

I listen to it all because I enjoy it. If you don't like it, don't listen...it is that simple.

Or, you can go to the on-demand section and pick and choose what you want to listen to.

I don't know how to explain this, but I'll try and I hope it makes sense...

If you don't like hockey, that's on you. If you are from Buffalo and do not support the Sabres, that is on you. But, when they get good, and they WILL get very good within the next 3-5 years...you are going to miss out on a hell of a ride. I can promise you that. I believe in that.

Tim Murray (Anaheim) and Craig Patrick (Pittsburgh) have both built Stanley Cup teams. They know what they are doing.

I follow the NHL draft like I follow the NFL draft, and that is an understatement because it is an obsession. I can tell you, (yes it is my opinion, but a well informed one), this team is going to be dominant like 1999 and 2006, in the very near future...especially if they land McDavid.

Now, I don't know if you know who McDavid is...but he is the next Sydney Crosby, the next Wayne Gretzky...he'd be the biggest athlete in Buffalo sports history.

That is something that should excite you...and it shouldn't matter where it comes from, you should want your city to get a championship.

The Sabres are well on their way to building towards that...I can't stress enough how much talent they truly have, and that's a fact, not opinion.

My frustration was not directed AT you, as it was directed generally at the fact that I couldn't explain this to you how I wish I could.

I played hockey. I coached hockey. I scouted hockey. I did all the same with football. I don't speak out unless I know what I'm talking about and have done my homework. I follow this stuff like it is my job, I wish it could be. I try to remain as unbiased as possible, as you can clearly see.

But, I am telling you, as my opinion AND an informed fact, this Buffalo Sabres squad is worth the airtime. What they are building is special. It is something that deserves attention, especially this year...because, like I said, it is all about Connor McDavid or Jack Eichel, who is just as talented. (But, everyone wants McDavid)

You do what you wish...I am not going to argue anymore...but I think you are making a mistake not getting on board with Tim Murray and company.

For all we know, we might not have the Bills for much longer...I sure as hell hope we do, but nothing is set in stone quite yet. We saw with the Clippers, if someone comes in and bids $2 billion, then the team could be moved elsewhere. I doubt it happens, but it's a possibility.

At least we know the Sabres will be here until Terry Pegula dies (I hope he buys the Bills)...being sports fans, from Buffalo...you should all really hop on the wagon.

The future of the Sabres (and the Bills to a lesser extent) is very bright and promising...it's going to be a lot of fun, I hope you join us!

(I'll add...the Bills have ALWAYS taken priority over the Sabres in my fandom...until my Father passed away in 2008, now it's all equal.)

  20. Training camp? Fact. There has never been 15,000 people at a single training camp session.

Sabres #1 talent pool in the NHL? Fact.

    http://www.hockeysfuture.com/team-rankings/

    http://www.si.com/nhl/2014/07/07/top-five-systems

EJ being an NFL QB? He is one. Just not a good one. And that is my opinion...as it is many others. He ranks maybe 27th out of 32 NFL QB's.

You know you have won an argument when the other person starts resorting to name calling (morons) and f-bombs. Well done Vegas, I think we proved our point.

You think you won an argument with opinions...not facts.

You also fail to recognize who started the name calling and "f-bombs" first.

Didn't realize this was a middle-school d*ck measuring contest here.

they just draft #2 overall and rookie camp is going on. Why wouldnt they talk hockey?

Because people who don't like the sport, can't understand the sport, or could never play the sport for whatever reason...say they shouldn't.
