Optimistic take:
We could have 3 first round picks playing their first games for us next season.
Shaq, Reggie (we wanted him in the 1st so I'll consider him one), TBD

@JaySkurski
Scott Berchtold says the #Bills don't want play by play or statistical information reported from practice.
I really don't mind this at all.
Mostly because of the people doing the reporting. They don't know what they're looking for---the purpose of the play---even if a pass was thrown in double coverage did Roman tell TT to do it anyway?
And then Rodak tweets "another awful pass thrown into Double Coverage---picked off."

It just seems to me it's tough finding OLs that make it after the 4th round. At least in recent years. Especially for us. I think of Wang immediately. Same goes for LB.
DBs WRs and even RBs. That's where I'm looking.

The more I thought about it, I think I understand trump better and how messed up our political system really is.I think trumps views would really lineup as a traditional blue collar democrat or at least 20 years ago would have been a democrat. But the democrat party has been so hijacked and pulled to the extreme left by the regressives there isnt even a resembelence to the traditional democrat party. I think Trump more or less has blue collar democrat policies with a strong sense of nationalism and pride. He appeals to a lot of people who would otherwise identify as being a part of other groups. I think conservatives are pulling for cruz, big government traditional and younger republicans for rubio, commies and hippies are in the bag for sanders, criminals are pulling for Hillary and trump is cleaning up with the rest.Ive had a few scotchs cut me some slack
No don't apologize...this might be the best analysis of what's happening that I've read anywhere.

Ahhh, the Monday morning Jerry Sullivan thread.
You know, it doesn't matter where you live. You don't have to read that stuff....ever, if you choose not to.Fair enough... I simply found this one to be over the top...
OP I completely agree with you. Thanks for the thread.
You folks in WNY don't get as mad as we Ex-Pats over the Buffalo News or WGR. You dont understand that for us those 2 mediums are a way (thanks Internet and streaming on phone) to stay close to our teams. We lose walking into every mall or Tops or Wegmans and seeing Bills stuff everywhere. Or Sabres for that matter.
Little things like wanting to tune into WGR or read the local write up following a Bills win might matter a tad bit more for us bc we are out of the area. Somehow, living here in Northern Virginia I've managed to get my 10 year old to be a huge Bills fan. I know he sees me listening to the WGR app....that's a tiny part of it. Despite all the suckage, he's a Bills fan. It's one of my proudest accomplishments as a Dad. Lol.
And I know I'm rambling here, but I just had to tune in to that douche bags show at 3 today and what's the premise of his opening monologue-----he's disappointed that we are picking 19th; that he's not sure there's any way this team gets better; and because of that, "what am I (its always about him) going to talk about for the next 5 months----drafting a Right Tackle? Awesome."
Yes Schopp. That's what we actual fans of the game (he's not) and team actually want to talk about. Not your candy drafts.
You know what they spent all last off season talking about here in DC? And by the way---how excited should Skins fans have been in August? On the radio here where they actually like their team, they talked about....wait for it....drafting an olineman!
We ex Pats (and Buffalonians) deserve better than the crap in the Buffalo News and on WGR from 3--7. It's embarrassing.

0-5 record against teams with 10+ wins
1-5 record against playoff teams.
Bills are very far from winning a playoff game let alone a championship. After 6 years of Whaley's input at a senior level its pretty clear he can't build an average playofff team.
The Jets played 14 games against teams with losing records at the time they played them or the record they finished with. Spare me.
-
Revis is still elite.
Sammy's year 3 jump started in the 2nd half of this season as the rapport/trust with Tyrod and the coaches developed. He should be seeing 10-15 targets a game in 2016.
-
Jets 42
Bills 10
We're just too banged up and I can see the right side of the line being a disaster.
I can see Marshall and Decker going off.
-
No.
We need 2 LBs, a 3-4 DE, a RT, and a FS. Too many other needs.
Thanks Rex.
It's not going to happen but he needs to be fired next Monday.
-
Whoever made the final call on Rex and didn't see this coming should be fired.
The fact our front office folks in charge of all personnel and football related ops thought this would work out should be shown the door.
-
And what olineman has Bill been scouting down in the college ranks?
-
Pettine ran the same scheme as Rex. We piled up sacks. Couldn't stop the run--Kiko at MLB was an issue whether we believe it or not. But we were a good defense.
Why is Rex's D so much worse and why are players complaining about a scheme they ran just 2 years ago with a lot of success? I think that's the better question.
-
I do agree tho that Whaley did not have final say on Rex. And it's possible he could quit.
If that happens it's all going to flip. No GM comes in and is told "here's your coach" and is happy about that.
-
LaConfora.
Ignore.
Not even opening. That troll tweeted some garbage during the Monday night game about us missing on OBJ will set us back or some crap for years.
He's a complete tool.
-
I have my issues with Rex....but to say because the Jets are better and we're worse is proof he's no defensive genius is dumb.
Did Rex have Revis and Cromartie last year? Did he have the offense they have now that can keep the chains moving? Is that all Bowels? Please.
Meanwhile we've lost Kyle, Aaron, Bradham, Aaron, and now Gilmore and Mario is basically checked out probably bc he knows he won't be back. We have a rookie at #2 corner.
But articles and national reaction like this to our success or lack thereof will come with the territory as long as Rex and all his bluster run the show. It's because of that, that when we struggle or play poorly--all eyes on the guy making guarantees. This one is over the top spiteful crap----"proof he's no genius?" Who wrote that? A 16 year old Pats fan?

Browns coach Mike Pettine said Wednesday that he would not include Russell Wilson in the top tier of NFL quarterbacks.
"Would you put him there with the guys that can transcend their supporting cast?" Pettine asked rhetorically. "The Bradys, whether it's Aaron Rodgers, Brees, Roethlisberger, the ones that you would consider the two, three, four elite guys? No. But he's certainly played himself into that next tier." Pettine indicated he believes Wilson's success is a "function" of Wilson's supporting cast -- a supporting cast that this year has included one of the NFL's worst offensive lines, the loss of Jimmy Graham to a torn patellar tendon, an injury-decimated running game, and no prototype No. 1 receiver. "He plays at a high level, he's very productive and they win," Pettine continued. "Now a lot of that I think is a function, too, is he's the perfect quarterback for what they do. To me it goes both ways."
I immediately put Wilson in the Fan Duel lineup.
Wilson is one of my favorite players in the game.
I want Bevell here (and did back in January as choice #1) doing with Tyrod what he's done out there.
But I guess I'll live with the excuse machine.
-
Taylor
Watkins
Glenn
Dareus
Gilmore
Darby
Preston/Bradham--hope they fit the system
McCoy
Clay
Hughes
Karlos
Miller (hope for improvement)
That's the long term core. Everyone else can be replaced bc of performance, cash, or getting old.
Biggest needs in order:
Right Tackle
A legit number 2 WR
Safety (I can't count on Aaron Williams now--serious injury)
An OLB Probably 2
DEs that can play a 3-4
Center (Wood ain't getting younger)
These changes coming to the D is why the Rex hire was absolutely absurd. Too many questions about who fits. Guys complaining. Just a mess.
-
Rex's scheme isn't the problem.
The people who hired him either knowing he'd change it based on the talent he had are to blame. Unless he lied to them and told them he'd keep the system.
Either way.....I think it was all the Pegula's with an assist from Brandon. Bc we'd be in the national conversation again. 60,000 season tickets.
I'm done.
Hire Bevell like we should have last year.
-
I really havent seen much read option like you see with Russell Wilson. Sure he scrambles at times, but I would like to see the read option where there's no hesitation and hes taking off around end. Tyrod should be watching every Seattle game in the off season. Wilson keeps so many drives alive with no hesitation scrambles where Tyrod kind of makes up his mind late.
In my opinion it is how he is being coached.....they want him to throw from the pocket
This is why Bevell was my first choice. Of course at the time it was EJ I thought would be the QB running his system. Right now Wilson is running that O at another level.
Now I picture Tyrod running it. What an epic mistake this was. Maybe Bevell didn't even want the job (or any seeing as he's still in Seattle), but now with Tyrod maybe he's a little intrigued.
I'd fire Rex and hire Bevell yesterday if I could.
-
They don't trust him.
And based on what I've seen I understand. Everyone looks at the throws he makes---and overall he's been ok. The stats say so.
But all the 3 and outs. The need to extend drives with his feet first. It's throws or reads he's not making that not everyone can see. But if we stay off twitter long enough for the replay or look pre snap at the 1 on 1 coverage Woods has with that Rowe kid that everyone has been picking on, you'll see there are other plays to be made.
And it's not so much that as how much as do they trust him to change the plays---can he? Does he do that well?
-
Panthers--Patriots.
Odds Ron Rivera beats BB? Zero.
But Arians vs BB would be awesome.
-
I'd ask Doug Whaley 2 things:
"Did you hire Rex or did Pegula?"
And...
"Did anyone ask him if he intends to keep the same D..."
If the answer was no we need a full scale house cleaning----the players are pissed...and why should they even bother selling out in light of that---they got paid.
I think we're about ready for an on the fly "re tool." I won't say blow it up, rather a few significant changes while not affecting the core which I consider:
Dareus
Sammy
Glenn
Gilmore
Darby
Preston Brown
Clay
I guess Tyrod till the rookie we draft is ready.
That's it. They can get rid of everyone else for all I care.
Going to have to completely re do the D anyway to be a true 3-4.

He sees the blitz coming from his left. I've always thought you throw INTO the blitz. He immediately looks for the safety valve to the right (the RB) rather then hit one of the 2 WRS up top---preferably the one on the outside. It's Sammy and he's wide open.
