Good for you - massively stupid article

Home Run Throwback was greatest ever plunge from "insane happy excitement stoked joy pumped crazy wild freakout" to "confusion denial anger sadness depression empty darkness" I've ever felt...also the quickest.
Who would've thought that play was a harbinger of next 11 seasons?
Screw these "best of" lists. They're only good when you agree with them.
I was, literally, in a state of mourning after that game. I still can't stand to look at it.

I would urge people to listen to the WGR interview Howard Simon and Jeremy White did with the AP reporter John Wawrow this morning. Basically the biggest thing to come out of it is that odds are very good the Bills have a plan in place long term to keep the Bills in Buffalo. Signs are there that it is happening but nothing 100%. Good interview.
So the Bills are unlikely to go anywhere. The owner does not want that, we of course do not want that and the NFL does not want it.
That would be great, as I have resigning myself to that fate. I haven't lived in Buffalo for years, but my love for the team is completely due to my love for the City - if they left, I could no longer be a fan.
-
Been a fan since the '60s - this is pretty bad because we have been so bad for so long. At least in the early '70s our offense was fun to watch - we had two years of pretty good teams in 1980 and 1981 (if memory serves me correctly) - then it got reeeaaaaalllllly bad - back to back 2-14 seasons in the mid '80s. The problem is that it is bad being a fan of this team MOST OF THE TIME.

This exactly sums up why Trent Edwards needs to be cut from the team today. Not tomorrow, today.
You can't win this way, and to suggest that dumbing down things to his moronic level is what we should do is absurd.
The fact that anyone who calls themselves a Bills fan would be satisfied with a quarterback who needs to run such a simplistic offense because he is incapable of running a professional offense is sad.
Cut him today.
Look vigilantly for a quarterback who IS CAPABLE. Do not settle for one that isn't. Acquire, evaluate, eliminate. Chuck the attitude of having "the best chance of winning on Sunday". We've been hamstrung by that for a decade. Bring them in, try them out, and ship them out if they aren't capable.
It is worth losing badly in the short term when you can justify it with scouring the earth for an elite, franchise quarterback. Without one, all you can hope for is one lucky fluke year where the stars align. The good teams have the elite quarterbacks. The ones make them competitive and relevant for a decade or more.
Do not compromise. Cut Trent Edwards.
We don't need to cut anyone until we get a NFL-quality o-line...nobody can win behind this group

Cuomo? Yea we need another career politician running this state. I say screw every politician that never had a real job. We need people that have made their own way in life that have something to give back. Not more of the same Democrat/Republican BS. Carl has my vote just for that reason.
There really is nothing wrong with career politicans, what is wrong is politicians being beholden to lobbyists and other special interests. Some people will go to DC, shout loud, and get NOTHING done.

Not the way you're thinking. And, I presume you're thinking public money (welfare) to do something with the stadium. That ain't gonna fly with him. He campaigned on cutting spending by 20% and cutting taxes by 10%. Let the Bills build their own stadium if they want a new one. A super Walmart brings in more coin to the area than they do. Paladino probably won't even carry the vote in Buffalo in the govenor's race, If Buffalo's history holds true to form. In the past 60 years they've elected a democratic mayor all but 12 years. 1965 was the last time that Buffalo had a mayor other than a democrat... sort of coinciding with the Bills downturn. I ask the Buffalo community, how's theat worked out for you?
The best thing Paladino will do for New York... and Buffalo is take these bastards in Albany to task... stop spending, make NY business friendly... give businesses a reason to move here, and kick the crap out of public unions that suck the money out of the working class. That will bring jobs and prosperity back to NY. But, of course, Barnum said it best. "There's a sucker born every minute". Translation... NY will elect Andrew (Mario Jr.) "Status" Cuomo.
I partly agree with you, but you gotta walk that line very carefully - without unions, there would not have been a middle class worth counting. I know they get besides themselves sometimes, but 'free' markets don't create middle classes - they create a small aristocracy and large peasant classes. No worker power, no worker pay.

Let's cut through the B.S. Trent is not a bonified NFL QB. His last game yesterday below vs. Miami shows how stats can be misleading. His game, 18 for 34 even looks better on paper than it was in actuality. In total, Trent has had 3 decent games (after Arizona). Win vs. San Diego, Win at KC, Win vs. Tampa Bay I highlighted his more putrid games below. Even average backups could put up better numbers than this. I looked up Matt Leinart's 2006 season and he had better numbers overall than Trent. Without a shadow of a doubt this will be TE's last season in Buffalo. They cannot continue with this level (lack of) productivity.
vs. Baltimore 11 for 21 153yds 0 td 1 int
vs. Cleveland 13 for 33 124yds 0 td 0 int ** played in a blizzard
vs. NY Giants 9 for 26 161 yds 2 td 3 int
vs. Phila 16 for 30 133 yds 0 td 0 int
Vs. New Eng 13 for 23 120 yds 1 td 2 int
vs. Cleveland 16 for 26 148 yds 1 td 3 int
vs. San Fran 10 for 21 112 yds 0 td 0 int
vs. New Eng 14 for 25 128 yds 0 td 0 int
vs. New Orl 20 for 35 156 yds 0 td 1 int
vs. Miami 14 for 26 192 yds 1 td 3 int
vs. Cleveland 16 for 31 152 yds 0 td 1 int
vs. Tennessee 18 for 28 185 yds 1 td 1 int
vs. Miami 18 for 34 139 yds 1 td 0 int
I am not a defender, but if would have been nice to see the guy get a little protection - the offensive line was pretty bad.

http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/index.php?...ason+prediction
I'm still standing by my 11-5 prediction. Here's what I predicted in April, but with added comments:
MIA @ BUF W
BUF @ GB L
BUF @ NE L
NYJ @ BUF W
JAC @ BUF W
BUF @ BAL L
BUF @ KC W
CHI @ BUF W
DET @ BUF W
BUF @ CIN W
PIT @ BUF W (could go either way, but I think the Bills will be fired up after the "They still have team up there" comment by an anonymous Pittsburgh player)
BUF @ MIN L (If Favre doesn't play, I'd say Bills win. Tavaris Jackson sucks and Sage Rosenfels is a decent backup, but nothing more).
CLE @ BUF W
BUF @ MIA W
NE @ BUF W
BUF @ NYJ L
I predict 11-5 for the year and a wild card berth. The Jets will win the AFC East.
I like your enthusiasm, but we haven't won all home games since Kelly was QB.

I remember at one point the Sunday Ticket was like $159, which averaged out to about $10/game. Inflation and greed. Greedy bastages...
I think it was about $120 when I first signed up in 1995 - I'm signed up for 2010.

Texas' unemployment rate is higher than all but about 10-15 states. Congrats to Texas in that they gained the most jobs over the past month of June (14,000) than any other state. Six Flags over Texas must have been hiring for the summer.
Schoebel wants his paycheck, but I'll be curious to see how much his heart is still into it.
Been to Texas many times - they can have it....
-
This has nothing to do with his status as a Bill last year. I think it's going to be a lot of fun to watch the Cinci offense in 2010. A lot more fun than watching Owens as a Bill, as a Cowboy, as an Eagle, whatever. The Bengals on O are going to be fun to watch. That's cool (and it doesn't really detract from the reBillding Bills, either.)
Agree - I think this is a great 'on-the-field' move for them.
-
I grew up in Buffalo - went to my first game at the Rockpile - I don't feel like I had any choice - I live in northern NJ and have had DirectTV since 1995 - Go Bills!
-
I thought Bill Cowher was a dirt bag were he refused to take the Buffalo Job this year. I really thought it was the perfect fit for him. Now maybe we know why? In any event my feeling for bill have changed, Maybe it not, Ralph, small market, the city, etc, etc. No matter what the case, my prayers to him and his family.
So sorry for them - so young - really sad

Go Spartans. I was class of 83. When I was back in Buffalo this past spring, went by the old school and it still looks the same as it did 30 years ago! Ugly than and ugly still!!
Born in Detroit 1965
Moved to Buffalo 1976 (mother still lives there)
Univ of Michigan 87
Lived in Atl ever since. As a sports town can NOT compare to Buffalo. But with the Sunday Ticket I NEVER miss a Bills game. And I do get to see the Sabres twice every season.
As for Bills games, went to the Music City miracle and the playoff loss in Miami when Flutie was sacked on the 5 yrd line. Anyone else on here been to both of those games?
I agree - one could say that it ages well! I graduated in 1974.
-
I pretty sure this has been done before but we've got 14 days to kill so.......
Born Niagra Falls 68'
Short stint on Grand Island
Williamsville North High School
Left in 85' and live on the Eastern Shore of Maryland.
Born in the old Meyer Memoial Hospital (Erie County Medical Center) on July 22, 1956;
Lived on the lower east side, north side and Clarence - attended PS #53, #81, Bennett High and graduated from Williamsville HS North;
Went to Buff State for a year before transferring away to college; worked at Cavages records while in college (UB store, Main Place Mall and Eastern Hills Mall);
I have not lived in Buffalo for any meaningful length of time since 1975.
I have lived in Washington, DC, Jacksonville, FL, Ann Arbor, MI (for 2 years of Business School) and have been in Northern NJ since 1991. People all over the country know me as a Bills fan and those who have known me long enough know that I was a fan even when they were bad....really bad.
I have been coming to this board since around 1997/1998 - mostly reading.
I got married in 1992 and my only prenup was that I could continue going to the sports bar on Sundays to watch the Bills - she stuck to it and I got Sunday Ticket in 1995. I now take it with me to watch it, while I watch my oldest daughter play soccer on fall Sundays.
Sometimes I don't want to be a Bills fan, but I am and always will be, as long as they are in Buffalo.

I was so mad when i went online to my directv account. I clicked on nfl sunday ticket, and price is now $315. yikes!!!
I'm still getting it. Maybe that's why I was mad. lol
So who else is krazy like me? Meaning renewing or singing up for sunday ticket.
I have been signed up since 1995, the second year they offered it and I will sign up again. I get Super Fan and usually watch the games on my laptop while my 13 year-old plays soccer because her games are usually at the same time. I get disappointed in the level of play, but I think, in some ways, it represents more than a game to me. It is my last real link to Buffalo because all of my immediate family has left.

thats funny. fan does look like jp
That was funny - but I liked JP - sorry things didn't work out for him

I've been a Bills fan since my first live game at Rich Stadium, Nov. 20th 1983 against the Raiders (a loss, of course). I was nine, a brawl broke out a few rows away from where we seated and I, nine years old, got flattened by a couple of drunken fans in a tussle.
I suffered through the horrible 2-14 seasons of '84 and '85. I lived the roller coaster of the amazing 1988 team, the OT field goal against the Jets to get into the playoffs, the Bickering Bills of '89, the 4-year Super Bowl run, which went from equal parts anxiety and excitement to just complete anxiety.
I stayed on board during dwindling late nineties, the Motor City Miracle, Rob vs. Flutie, Drew vs. JP. I sat in my friends living room here in Columbus, Ohio and watched McGahee destroy his knee in the National Championship, and then watched in horror as the Bills drafted him four months later with Travis Henry on the roster.
Phillips, Williams, Mularky, Jauron, I've been on board for all it. I've watched the draft, got Sirius so I could listen to the games that aren't shown here, and then suffered the repeated Monday Night Football meltdowns year after year when they were on.
A pessimist is someone who stresses the negative. I'm not a pessimist. I see the upside in CJ Spiller, like I did in McKelvin, Lynch, Witner, McCargo, or the signings of Owens, Tripplet, etc. But I am pragmatic, a realist. I accept the fact that there are things going on that are working against the franchise - location, size of fanbase, ownership situation, budget restrictions, etc.
Could they strike lightning again like 90-93 - who knows. Is it likely? No. Will I still listen to every game. Yep. But don't expect me to believe, or Bill-ieve. I'm way to old for that, got to many last minute heartaches, can't miss busts and unmet expectations to get excited in May.
Tim, I'm with you man.

whats just dumb? they had an amazingly easy opponent in the super bowl that continued to defend the pass when they were getting killed by the run and if they played someone better (could have been the Saints) he may not even have that one super bowl win
the Bears were one of the worst super bowl teams of the past decade so i'll say it again, if it wasnt for the Bears he may not even have that one super bowl ring
why can't one disagree with Dungy's need to help troubled players without questioning his coaching skills - they are different issues and his coaching expertise has bee proven. Anytime you can take a perennial loser (Bucs) and make them a winning organization - you have done something special. Didn't they win the superbowl the year after he left against a raiders team that did not even change their signals when playing in the SB against their former coach? Dungy is a good coach - period. Whether you agree with his social agenda is a different story.

A similar deal would have him in the AFC east. Then grab the LT released by the cowboys. What is so difficult?
Other teams just move faster.
He didn't want to come here.
Don't look now, but guess who is atop the AFC East right now...
